Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

This is where I didn't want this game to be at this point.

    Blow it up ref

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,367 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

I maintain that we've tried to 'manage' this game and our energy levels.

    Extremely dangerous game.

Sheffield United clearly out for revenge after paying over 20mill for Rian Brewster. It's personal for them.

Stop with the little back heels please.

Yea I'd say your right there. We seem to be ramping it up every 10 minutes or so and then taking the foot off the pedal and allowing SU to have the ball.

Since Mac Allister went off it seems that we've lost a little control and composure in midfield as well.

I don't think I've ever seen as poor a performance on the ball as Joe Gomez tonight.

    He's been shocking.

  • Administrators Posts: 54,128 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

    Emphatic finish. Thank goodness!

Thought he was getting sent off there but puts in a super ball instead.

No panic lads done and dusted on too the next game

Nunez finally assists someone other than Salah

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,398 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

Szobo was really good the last 20 minutes there I thought. Seemed to find some of the energy he had the first 6 weeks of the season.

Darwin gets an assist at the second time of asking.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,512 ✭✭✭tinpib

great tenacity from Darwin there, think most players were expecting a foul to be given.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,512 ✭✭✭✭noodler

Just as I'm screaming at Nunez for losing the ball when Sobo was free, he tackles, wins it back, crosses and Sobo shows the test of them how to finish

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,414 ✭✭✭facehugger99

    Nunez you sexy beast!

Sheff Utd have been getting away with tackles like that all game

    A big 3 points!

    Nunez contributes once more.

He's a bit of an enigma.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,878 ✭✭✭hynesie08

Beat Palace, then do not start a single first team player in the Europa, give them 8 days before we eviscerate United.

    Get in! Big win

Thought Endo was good, big energy and running from Szoboszlai and VVD was standout.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,398 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

Not a great performance but this time of year when you are playing every weekend and midweek you just have to dig out wins somehow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,512 ✭✭✭✭noodler

    Endo impressed for sure

Always wants the ball and isn't afraid to play it forward. Too many of Elliott's passes are backwards by comparison.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,125 ✭✭✭happyoutscan

    3 points.

Endo with a fine game. He's a starter for me against teams like this. A proper DM.

    Clean sheet for Kelleher

    Not pretty but effective.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,367 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

    Van Dijk.

    Best in the world again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,811 ✭✭✭Ottoman_1000

It's a bit of a mad one, Nunez obviously has his own issues currently, but we look completely crap up top anytime he's not playing! We dont look anyway threatening without him....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,746 ✭✭✭giveitholly

It was all about getting the 3 points tonight. Hopefully MacAllister's injury isn't too bad

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,612 ✭✭✭eigrod

Delighted with that. Van Dijk back on his perch as best centre back in the World. Our front players are a bit meh at the moment but that will change.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,594 ✭✭✭kingshankly

just seen somewhere there was a CRACKing ASSist from Trent 😂

A slog of a watch but another good win. Instantly improved when Nunez came on and szobs started getting on the ball. Van dijk individually is back to his best.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,133 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

That's the thing. We looked totally devoid of attacking play for the first 60 mins. When he came on, his running in behind actually helped create opportunities.

Game state helped too tbf as Sheffield United had to push on.

I guess Klopp knew that and rotated accordingly to get the best 'finishing' forward on the pitch for the last 20 mins like they do in rugby now. Take advantage of that game state

    Is the match on anywhere?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,746 ✭✭✭giveitholly

It was only about a week ago some people were wondering why we signed him and how poor he is,has proved invaluable since then. Everyone should know he isn't the answer to our problems in the no. 6 area, but will be crucial going forward

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,133 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

    Tsimikas got his rest.

    Salah some rest

    Nunez some rest

Trent held back second half tonight too. Saving himself some bit.

    Gravenberch / Jones as subs.

Lots of injuries but there are a small number of rotation options for Saturday morning.

Fulham taking their frustrations from last Sunday out on Forrest tonight

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,792 ✭✭✭✭Charlie19

I thought it was total league ban, I noticed Gomez just using is jersey. Iirc Delap use to try and hide the towel under his jersey;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,059 ✭✭✭SuperTortoise

    Not pretty but job done.

VVD the stand out, Endo done well, we're going to have to rest TAA at some stage.

Villa going 3rd at the moment by looks of things

    Villa one up against city

Palace got beat 2-0 at home to Bournemouth too, hopefully that's a sign of their performances to come this weekend!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,792 ✭✭✭✭Charlie19

    Villa💪

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,891 ✭✭✭✭klose

Was always gonna be a tough slog of a game after wilder came back for em, so a 2-0 result away from home is a good result, some pretty meh performances around the pitch not least salah and diaz, gomez and konate had some ropey moments too.

Thought endo was quietly impressive, always available for the ball and moved the ball nicely. We move!!

Villa full value for their lead. Bossing City like I've not seen anyone do in a long time, they are an excellent team under Emery.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,792 ✭✭✭✭Charlie19

    The post saves city😱

  • Registered Users Posts: 976 ✭✭✭AdrianG08

Rodri is the difference maker at City, when he's out they struggle

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,133 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

Fears confirmed as Klopp has said it's an ACL for Matip. That's him gone from us so and won't see him again.
