Sweet Jesus, it seems that you can't understand basic English or geography. I was quoting a doctor in the West Bank who denied that Hamas had raped anyone during the October attack and who described such claims as Israeli black propaganda.

Not, again, how is asserting that doctors as a cohort are no more or less ethical than plumbers an insult to doctors?

I notice even Daily Mail readers are disgusted by the images of Palestinian men being stripped to their underwear by the IDF and are sceptical that any of them are Hamas members. A PR own goal by the regime.

Do you come up with scenarios that have no basis in reality in order to deflect from holding Israel to account? Russia is no threat to Israel. Bibi has spoken about his admiration in the past for Putin. Bibi has not helped Ukraine either . You might give a board exclusive and condemn Bibi for this. Although since you can't condemn the Israeli government for anything you'll conveniently ignore this.

Let this sink in,Israel has one of the most powerful armies in the world backed up by the world's most formidable army, no state is an existential threat to them in light of this. It is merely a convenient for you to keep pedalling this canard to deflect and avoid criticism of the Israeli Government's actions

They simply don't care at this stage.

Their antisemite/nazi spiel is running thin at this stage(their government). People are no longer afraid to ask proper questions.

It's about suppressing and erasing truth.

Writers and academics can verbalise an oppressed people's pain in a way that packs a punch to people in the rest of the world. If you're carrying out a genocide, that's bad PR you.

Israel also murders Palestinian journalists and bans western journalists from Gaza because it wants to suppress truth.

Maybe I'm just getting old but I like to avoid hyperbole and assigning pejorative generalisations. I think inaccurate characterisation leads to inaccurate conversations. It reminds me of what Donald Trump does when he attacks the person rather than the point. I'm seeing a lot of that from Palestinian and Israeli sources and I'm seeing a lot of it here.

To criticise Hamas does not mean one supports Israel.

To criticise Israel does not mean one supports Hamas.

To question the accuracy or veracity of a source does not mean one is denying the event being discussed actually happened.

To question whether the actions of Israel in Gaza constitutes genocide does not mean one condones or agrees with the actions of Israel.

To question the word of a single Poster on social media does not mean that one doesn't believe anything posted on social media.

To question the word of a single doctor does not mean that one doesn't believe any doctor.

These are all basic logical assumptions that must be accepted by everyone in a discussion in order for that discussion to be anything more than a playground shouting match.

Bibi accusing the ICC of antisemitism now. You couldn't make it up could you.

It seems to be the 'get out of jail' card for all Zionists now. If you're heavily criticising Israeli military action, it's proof that you are anti-Semitic and secretly love Hamas.

The Russians who acted like Nazis called the people they wanted to genocide Nazis too.

I would describe him as one of the fundamentalist lunatics and as bad as any Hamas member. He's been very critical of LGBT people and Christians. He's as bad as it gets and it's a sad reflection on Israeli society that someone like him gets elected to any public office.

What makes you think that all Zionists agree with or support the actions of Israel in Gaza?

You are using Zionist as a pejorative term when in fact it simply means someone who is supports Israel's right to exists and is concerned with its political and economic development. When you characterise all people who support Israel's right to exist as supportive of and in agreement with the current IDF campaign in Gaza you are alienating a very large number of people and polarising an already emotive topic.

This discussion has descended to the level of a parody of a playground shouting match, hence I have reduced significantly my engagement with it. Logic and rational thought have been thrown out of the window, with the exception of a few like yourself.

I will leave you with a Shaw quotation:

Israel is run by people like this. This is what Israel is. It's a country lost to fascism.

New settlements approved on Wednesday on occupied territory.

The propaganda gets ever more grotesque.

Here's Isaac Herzog, President of Israel:

“This war is a war that is not only between Israel and Hamas. It’s a war that is intended, really, truly, to save Western civilization, to save the values of Western civilization,” Herzog told MSNBC’s Ana Cabrera in an interview.

Israel is literally destroying western civilisation before our eyes. The idea of the west will never be associated with freedom, democracy or decency ever again, it will be associated with genocide, tyranny, hypocrisy and lies.

This was always a trap and Israel has jumped right into it and pulled the entire fabric of western liberal democracy in with it.

Because the other professions were just a red herring used by you to disguise your attack on all doctors. It doesn't matter what other profession you mention from Norwegian fish-smokers to Latvian sheep herders. You deliberately attacked doctors and imo it was an underhand attack on the most important profession left in Gaza. The people who stood by their people and who reported on atrocities. A very poorly disguised attempt let it be said.

You can attack one doctor who is wrong on something, one baker, one builder etc etc but you attacked the entire profession.

I'll be completely honest with you. This post reads like a hell of a lot of revisionism given what you've posted on this thread over the last couple of months.

I know that determination is subjective, and I'm not saying you can't do that, I'm just saying what comes to mind reading this post. Comes to mind hard.

Nail on the head and some here trying to do the same.

I specifically and carefully talked about a single doctor. A doctor that wasn't in Gaza. You couldn't be more wrong if you tried.

  • Registered Users Posts: 51,916 ✭✭✭✭tayto lover

And then you said that you wouldn't trust ''any'' doctor.

  • Registered Users Posts: 354 ✭✭Ulixes

I'm certainly not above being guilty of getting into the playground-esque discussions but it's not my intent. Having said that I haven't described all Israeli's or all Gazan's in negative terms and I haven't ascribed motive or drawn conclusions about the intent of either side. I've been very critical of the government of Israel and of Hamas and I've questioned the historically inaccurate way in which some posters have framed the broader issues and root causes of this conflict.

None of that means that I've condoned the actions of either side.

  • Registered Users Posts: 354 ✭✭Ulixes

Show me where I said that?

I said that I wouldn't necessarily trust any doctor more than I'd trust any plumber or baker. That's all.

Would you trust a doctor more than a plumber only because they are a doctor, only because of the job they choose to do?

  • Registered Users Posts: 18,657 ✭✭✭✭Strazdas

Well, I note that some Israeli Jewish people in the international media who are now heavily criticising Israel's actions are describing themselves as 'former' Zionists, so they themselves seem to think is a problem with Zionist ideology.

Russia killed two million in Afghanistan and 160,000 in Chechnya

They make Israelis look like amateurs

When you say that Israel is run by people like this are you saying that every politician, every judge, every LDF officer, every senior Public Servant etc shares the views expressed by the deputy mayor?

  • Registered Users Posts: 354 ✭✭Ulixes

Sure, but does that mean that you believe that everyone who describes themselves as a Zionist is necessarily supportive of what's happening in Gaza now?

  • Registered Users Posts: 51,916 ✭✭✭✭tayto lover

You know what you were attempting to do. Are there many plumbers in Gaza treating their patients while their lives are in danger and facing down the attacks on hospitals and children in incubators? You knew exactly what you were doing and why you were doing it.

That, in my view, is indicative of a policy of slow ethnic cleansing by Israel.

On a side note, if as part of an broader agreement the settlements in the West Bank are stopped is there any chance we can get those lads over here to build for us because you've got to hand it to them they can lash up the houses. 😀
