The Bonnars can consider themselves very lucky after cocking up so badly in the first event, and yer man flaking out so early on the balance beam!

But they made short work of the eliminator in fairness, so all credit to them. Colm Bonnar sprinted up that ramp like a 25-year old, fair dues to him!

Does Donncha have 3 teams in this round? I thought it was only 2, which would make it a bit bizarre that they had both in the one episode. But if he has 3, that would make a bit more sense.

Stratfords are with Donncha, I know them, they're very fit and have been into fitness all their lives, hope they win

Carrying bags of spuds and filling baskets with spuds. You can't get much more Irish than that 😅

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,459 ✭✭✭✭Green&Red

Donnacha didn't spare Cillian, he obviously wanted the glory of "winning" the first task. I think Donnacha said something about his ego. Ridiculous move to have the girl trying to pull that tyre and the biggest man of show standing waiting. They were excellent in the eliminator in fairness

Murphy's and Peter's came across as two very nice families

    👍️.

I'm kinda partial to Maris Piper as well

  • Registered Users Posts: 448 ✭✭eastie17

Yeah, madness. I know some of these events you cant really practice for, but everyone knows how heavy a tractor tyre is and it was just plain daft to think she could pull it on her own in any sort of decent time, Colm should have done that, the son carry the tyre which was probably even harder, then one girl on the balance beam and one running.

It sounded like they didnt listen to Donnacha on the spuds trial either, so didnt learn any lessons from the first debacle, as Donnacha made some comment that he didn't think the son was the right man to be up on the balance beam

Awe that's a cruel blow for this family down to three but they will not be last anyway after your one on the last family failing after 24seconds. Big mistake putting her up there.

    Doing OK over 100kg now.

Did Davy just smack someone on the ass?

Davy is incredibly 😨 scary. If looks could kill, they'd be dead.

Oh I enjoyed that look on his face. A face like a smacked arse when his last team got knocked out. 😅

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,478 ✭✭✭chalkitdown1

As soon as she walked out on the beam she looked like she could crumble. Her feet looked way to narrow for balancing. She also looked to be standing way too close to the edge of the beam, but that's besides the point. Just a disaster all 'round.

Love seeing Davey humbled, though, even if I'm gonna miss his hilarious screaming at the poor families.

I agree. Even Sonia o Sullivan said it afterwords that she should have picked one of the others but did not have the heart to say it but they done brilliant in the Eliminator and at least they know for the rest of the show.

    Yes me too.

It's that time of the week again. Come on team yellow the mahors.

Not easy or nice this course.

    Helmet falling of not good.

Not going good this. They are struggling and going so slow.

I think these will either be in the Eliminator or go out.

    6.09 is there time.

I didn't think that first Mammy was going to make it through the bog - she was like a dead body being doing around the place for a lot of it!

What is the deal with getting helmets that will actually stay on??? Or possibly just making contestants actually fasten them properly?

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,309 ✭✭✭evolvingtipperary101

The Cavan family should be favourites.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,836 ✭✭✭Trampas

The daughter had all the hallmarks of I don’t want to do this. Arm injury last week to practically walking the eliminator. I was wondering how she will even get up the ramp if close. She jump started and still last after a few seconds

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,258 ✭✭✭✭wrangler

I favoured them (stratfords) from the start, they're all fit and hungry for victory

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,459 ✭✭✭✭Green&Red

I'd say the Bonners should be favourites but they're not a team, your man cillian storming ahead, the other families have better teamwork. He's by far the strongest left in the comp but even at the cargo nets he just plowed on, left the weaker ones behind

Oh my god, the Maher's mother being thrown around like a ragdoll in the mud by her 2 sons had the wife and I HOWLING with laughter. It was like a war movie or something where they're pulling an injured soldier around to safety.

And all that for nothing. She cost them the win in the Eliminator at the end. They would have won without her.

Yes and in the end it was her fault that they did not win the Eliminator. She was there weakest link. They would have got to the final without her.

Very harsh on the mam there, she did not look like an athlete and came within a whisker of getting up the ramp, she got round the eliminator quicker than a few of the opposing team

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,164 ✭✭✭✭Mantis Toboggan

surely if they have to wear helmets they should have stopped when mothers helmet came off, pause the clock, put helmet back on.

if she had hit her head after that could have been some repercussions for the production company.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,627 ✭✭✭✭HeidiHeidi

I said it on the night, they either need to give them helmets that will stay on, or make them secure then properly (I don't know what the problem is, but an amazing amount of them are not on the contestants heads a lot of the time!)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,836 ✭✭✭Trampas

Need to fit the go pros better also. How many get caught in a net or something

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,710 ✭✭✭Eibhir

I don't think the Bonnars were in any way impressive in Sundays eliminator. The Mahers had a 3 to 0 lead at the wall.

The Mahers mam, harsh judgement I know, is probably the weakest contestant since the African lady a few years back. The Maher boys were half way down the wall and she couldn't generate enough power to make any headway on the ramp. In the mud race she couldn't move on her own either.

It's not a nice sight seeing a weak, un athletic mam being thrown around like a rag doll. It brings into question that aspect of the show. Surely a basic fitness is needed, a mam who runs, does pilates or kettle bells, maybe farms a little etc. It's not right 3 sons dragging poor mam on the show for their glory.

The Bonnars are headless. Putting the daughter on the tyres was up there with the most stupid tactics ever. You need enough explosive power for the first flip and momentum. Colm Bonnar has managed SETU Carlow, Tipp hurlers etc. His background is fitness. That raises a lot of questions! As others have said the elder son is show boating. It should be all about the team. Maybe they'll act as a team tomorrow. But when pressure comes on people resort to old habits usually.

Looking forward to the final. Xmas party tonight so the couch tomorrow with some tv is just the ticket. Love to shout at them to run when I'm lying on the couch with chocolate

Really looking forward to the final tomorrow. I shouldn't but I really did laugh at the Mahers doing a muddy impression of Weekend at Bernie's last week
