Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Szbo not at the races yet

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,080 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Szob not quite settling into it yet... Lots of almost good things, just slightly over hit. Hopefully things click for him as the game settles down.

Final ball poor enough, think we have had a few opportunities around the edge of the box where we should have taken a shot, those ones have been going in recently.

Plus Onana could easily fluff a shot from distance too.

    Hopefully crowd pick it up

    Trent is playing well.

    Szoboszlai is not

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,059 ✭✭✭SuperTortoise

Sobo and Salah's passing is awful so far.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,398 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

Be great if lads could just pass the ball to a red shirt.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,367 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

Nunez and Salah would want to get their acts together.

Endo has been excellent so far.

    I'd hook Nunez at half-time.

Don't trust him being on a yellow and Gakpo's guile might be the better fit for this.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,698 ✭✭✭✭machiavellianme

It'd be better if they could pass it to the back of Onana's net

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,406 ✭✭✭✭Vicxas

    Occasion is getting to us

    So many sideways passes.

Our attack is so slow that when we win the ball back United have time to get everyone back behind the ball.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,591 ✭✭✭cmac2009

Surprised Utd aren't targeting him, he's so easy to wind up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,080 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Both Utd CMs booked now - that's huge. Need to see Diaz, Mo, Szob, Grav, and Nunez all running right through them. Can't make little cynical tackles at all anymore there to stop runs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,398 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

The right side of the team (Trent, Szobo and Mo) have been so sloppy in possession.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,406 ✭✭✭✭Vicxas

    Passing has been awful

Can someone please take a shot on Onana.

He looks ready to make a howler.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,541 ✭✭✭✭retalivity

3 clearances in a row straight out of play, need to put more pressure on him

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,698 ✭✭✭✭machiavellianme

Is "Futuremakers" the new "seeing is believing" or something else?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 704 ✭✭✭Mr Disco

This is why Liverpool won’t mount a serious title challenge

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,125 ✭✭✭happyoutscan

It's one half of one game.

At least wait until the 90 are up and then we can all give out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,367 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

Nunez still not learned the offside rule so.

Only 2 mins for all the time wasting from United lol

    ******

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,398 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

Endo’s foot wasn’t even that high there. He more or less pulled out as Amrabat ducked down.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,524 ✭✭✭Pepp1989

Playing like a team of strangers.

Gakpo for nunez. Give szbo 10 min warning unless he drastically improves

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,080 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Amrabat really bought that, terrible yellow. Goes down grabbing his face when the contact was down around his waist.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,125 ✭✭✭happyoutscan

Oliver easily fooled by the useless Amrabat.

Liverpool obviously much the better side but both teams abysmal in different ways.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,367 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

That half is as bad as any football you'll see anywhere.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,594 ✭✭✭kingshankly

in Fairness it’s a performance we have seen a lot of lately from Liverpool

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,698 ✭✭✭✭machiavellianme

Harsh on Endo, his foot can't have been that high, it just seems that way because Amrabat was stooping.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,811 ✭✭✭Ottoman_1000

This has just been a continuation of the last few weeks. Poor ponderous play, no edge up front...UTd are absolutely sh**e, but we're not much better lately.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,891 ✭✭✭✭klose

Disjointed isn't the word for it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,349 ✭✭✭Zak Flaps

Plus loads of other games where we were pïss poor.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,698 ✭✭✭✭machiavellianme

    When is Jota back?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 678 ✭✭✭FernandoTorres

Tsimikas made a number of great runs in behind and was ignored every time to go with the selfish option. Awful display so far but at least United don't look up up much.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,398 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

The quality of the play has killed the crowd and all.

Passing is all over the shop and they are not clicking properly.

    Meh.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,653 ✭✭✭theoneeyedman

This follows a pattern this season really, subdued first half and hopefully a better second.

Elliot and Cody will be in soon I'd imagine.

Missing Jota and especially Joel, Ibra is better than Jo in defence but Joe is possibly better carrying the ball forward, United aren't even tackling Ibra when he has it.

    No need to worry lads.

  • Registered Users Posts: 264 ✭✭505_

The only way they don’t win comfortably is if nunez gets sent off. Being honest if he got a second yellow immediately for the sarcastic applause you couldn’t have complained. Get him off now hopefully.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,059 ✭✭✭SuperTortoise

    Gakpo for Nunez please.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,843 ✭✭✭dmigsy

Szoboszlai has been poor. Elliott will be on for him soon enough I'd say. Gakpo for Nunez too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,799 ✭✭✭Ken Tucky

    Agree with all the above

We haven't been a good watch for a while but dear me United have brought this game down to a level of sh*te that I didn't think was possible

And it might work for them if we don't wake up

Expecting a big half time from Klopp and an even bigger second half from us

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,080 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

This is I think what a lot of us were wary of. These games can be very emotional and angsty rather than true reflections of ability. The obvious anxiety of the crowd doesn't help either.

I don't even mind Nunez intentions with that little shoulder before the ball came in, but he was just too obvious in his shïthousing, needed to be more subtle.

Hopefully a good team talk from Klopp now to calm the heads and get everyone refocused.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,612 ✭✭✭eigrod

Tsimikas and Endo playing well. Never ever a yellow for Endo there. Konate needs to improve his heading in their box. Needs a moment of magic from someone.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,204 ✭✭✭McFly85

Really flat performance, need to up the tempo massively. If they’re the same in the second half we’ll see Elliott and Gakpo on sooner rather than later.

You can only play as well as the other team allows you to, to some degree. If the other team time wastes and puts 10 players behind the ball you have to work hard. That is maybe why the atmosphere has been bad, United is not here to play for the moment. They are doing what most teams do at Anfield, keep it tight and hope for something on the break in the last 20 minutes.

They have offered nothing on attack, because they have not been looking to attack. They are keeping it tight at the back and playing deep. Not the best match maybe for Nunez as there is little space to run into. Add in we are so much better than them as well and you can see it, but that does not guarantee a win. Will need to be patient, maybe some changes at half-time to bring on Gakpo, even though I really like Nunez. But this may not be the match for him.

Endo has looked good, team seem to trust him more to give him possession in tight positions as well. That yellow was scandalous, was not a high boot and did not make a lot of contact, but that is how it goes.
