    Portugal routes populated,

Things to watch still : UK routes, Edinburgh looks to have a low schedule

Warsaw has one flight in March , will it be kept for next Summer

    Will Newcastle be dropped officially

What new route(s) will be announced

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,844 ✭✭✭lisasimpson

I can see Newcastle getting dropped. Had better passenger number in Cork.

Hopefully in the next wk we might get the destinations as some people like to buy flights as pressents

Shannon Airport records impressive 29% growth in ‘23 (Shannon Airport) 😀

Shannon Airport had a strong growth surge in 2023 with 1.958 million passengers welcomed to the airport, a 29 per cent increase on 2022 activity. This strong performance saw the airport achieve its highest passenger numbers since 200914 years ago, with growth in air services across all markets.

    Passenger numbers to and from

    Continental Europe rose by 41 per cent to over 748k;

UK traffic increased by 31 per cent recording 838k,

while transatlantic passenger numbers increased by 24 per cent to 296k.

Thoughts with the passengers on the late night Shannon to Edinburgh flight last night who somehow find themselves waking up this morning in Cologne!

The Edinburgh -> Shannon flight landed fine just earlier, small bit of turbulence. A very tricky & bumpy take off though. Fair play to the pilots there.

Myself and some relatives from Dublin flew from Shannon to Tenerife last Monday. They had never flown from Shannon before and have now vowed to fly from Shannon from now on, whenever possible. They were really impressed with the ease and comfort and lack of mad queues.

Any sign of any new route or anything from Shannon?

EI have bought back routes earlier to Shannon for the winter. New York JFK resumes 10 Feb. Last year it was 01 March. Boston is scheduled to operate daily between Jan & March also for this period. Usually they drop it to 5-6 weekly. Heathrow has stayed almost 2-3 daily every day for these couple of weeks except for two weeks. Usually they reduce it for longer. Small increases albeit still good for Shannon.

Surprised there has been no usual Ryanair press release/announcement. I guess issues with max deliveries has made announcements for much of Europe later than usual: they has been quite a few announcements elsewhere this week.

Time is ticking on so if anything new for summer it is bound to be announced shortly.

  • Registered Users Posts: 151 ✭✭LimaRomeo990

Surprised as well. Theres been no new route announcement since Dec 2022.

I didnt get there announcement in Oct 2023. Faro has been operating every summer for years and Liverpool operated last summer. So it was the usual hype from Ryanair saying there new but they wernt. They are existing routes.

New to the Winter Schedule. Thats what they said

United advertised for a full time Operations Manager in Shannon recently. Extending service to year round?.

EWR currently finishes at the end of Oct for the season but it could change.

Ryanair have a second MAX based now instead of 738. There had been a lot rotated in and out of Shannon for maintenance but from today its permanently 2 MAX and 1 738 based

I'll be surprised if AA don't restart PHL when get their batch of A321LRs delivered.

  • Registered Users Posts: 151 ✭✭LimaRomeo990

I think they are waiting for them before restarting Shannon/ Edinburgh. Shannon was mentioned in their route announcement video last year. So hopefully Shannon - Philadelphia is in their radar.

Shannon are promoting JJ Ruddles and food in the airport more lately.

pity they had no new routes to promote. Still no route news except DL for summer 2024.

Up up and away next Monday ex SNN. Can't wait.

Delta have already upgraded SNN JFK to a 763 for the summer instead of 752

Ryanair summer schedule still seems to be unfinished with a gap on a Tuesday evening and Monday evening. Surprised no schedule announcement has been done by now. Hopefully Shannon sees new routes soon
