Leinsters half backs really struggling today.

Such a frustrating game. Leinster completely dominating the game but just can't score. It's set up for Munster to snatch it.

Even if Munster win it’s a completely unsustainable result with how they’ve been playing.

    Absolutely useless.

    Mcgrath has been very poor

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,316 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Coombes cleared out and the referee let's him take a second bite.

Another farce of a call, lying all over bodies again

Munster player blocking the clear out there

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 942 ✭✭✭mun1

Considering the lineups and injuries mid game, munster aren’t lying down here

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,907 ✭✭✭yosser hughes

Luke McGrath has been poor. Shirks responsibility too often and seems unsure of himself, which is a fatal flaw for a scrum half.

    Harry Byrne the same.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,316 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Baird has been very good since coming on.

Three lineout steals in the last few minutes.

What responsibility has he been shirking exactly? I don't think he's played well but I'm not seeing lack of effort or anything like it.

McGrath never shirks responsibility. If anything, he tries to take on too much himself.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,458 ✭✭✭kuang1

Line out alone means munster deserve to lose this. F**king heartbreaking it is now.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,790 ✭✭✭✭Burkie1203

    That's an odd call.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,316 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

What's Brace actually doing there? Whistle to his mouth then decides just not to award a penalty.

Baird has been absolutely excellent since coming on.

    Nonsense call by the ref

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,120 ✭✭✭Sheep breeder

Agree totally Lenihan never shuts up and all Leinster talk and so predictable about everything he says over and over again, RTE need a total change and new blood who can commentary about the game.

Penalty was coming, I think. Leinster were grinding away at the gain line and edging forwards all the time.

The yellow was just silly from Loughman. No need to stick an arm out to block the pass.

It didn't look that clear to me I have to say, but the ref called onside twice and Munster didn't pay any heed to it, so you sort of get what you deserve in that case.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,711 ✭✭✭clsmooth

I would have gone for another scrum there. Force a penalty try, deny Munster the LBP.

McCarthy excellent again. Baird has a great cameo, superb in the lineout. Wishing Edogbo a speedy recovery.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,316 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

That was a game very low on skill and execution. Conditions were appalling so the match was never going to be that sort of running game.

Very pleased with our dominance in defence and up front. Munster never got the go forward to do any damage.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,230 ✭✭✭A-Train

Leinster the better team tonight in all areas of the game. Big Joe deserved motm

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,428 ✭✭✭✭Larbre34

Justifiable MOTM for McCarthy. And Baird excellent cameo.

Just a couple more reasons to back up the hypothesis that Snyman is a waste of money.

  • Registered Users Posts: 341 ✭✭bingobango12

Awful conditions made it impossible to play rugby. Leinster far more physical which won them the game.

Referee made some bizarre calls. Not really in favour of either team more than the other but some dreadful decisions.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,154 ✭✭✭✭Neil3030

Not sure which is more frustrating, watching a scrappy game in those conditions, or leafing through page after page of people whinging about the ref.

McCarthy had a very good performance tonight, clear MOTM.

Crowley with a mixed bag, arguably his best spell was the 10 minutes at 9. He'll rue screwing up that clock count and missing the kick that cost us the draw.

That said, LBP in a tight scrap, given the teams and injuries, something I wouldn't have been too devastated with before the game.

How bloody poorly do Leinster rate Ben Murphy for McGrath to finish out that match?!

Horrendous conditions that killed any chance of good rugby. Leinster I feel were clearly the better team but munster contributed to making it a dogs dinner of a match.

Was very pleased with leinster's defensive form. Sod all else to take from that though.

Conditions were a great leveller there but thought Leinster were the better team by a distance. Completely dominated up front and in defence, pleased with the win and doing the double over Munster. They were probably a bit thrown off by a ref who actually penalised them TBF.

Hope Edogbo is ok, you really hate to see that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,316 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Joe McCarthy was excellent again. His work at the counter maul is so effective. He comes through the middle and disrupts so often.

Thought Baird and Sheehan made a huge impact off the bench as well. Both were so physical and helped take the game away from Munster. The formers defensive jumping at the lineout was excellent.

Will Joe McCarthy start a few games in the 6 nations

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,316 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Fair play to Jenkins as well. That performance was more akin to his pre-injury form last season. Some very heavy carries into heavy traffic and across the gain line.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 942 ✭✭✭mun1

Well done to leinster, but for all their “dominance”, if munster had been able to avoid the injuries in the frost half, and had a bit of luck they could have taken the win, no matter how unjustified.

    mccarthy had a good game

munster , without their big men , are there to be bullied up front.

well done to the team who turned out, good shift from ahearn, Jäger & Clarke . Casey, JOD were notable in having poor enough games.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,946 ✭✭✭KH25

Conditions really impacted the game, but it was a decent watch. Joe Mc is some player. Hopefully Edogbo is ok, looked quite unhappy coming off.

Brace made some absolutely bizarre calls. Really couldn’t understand his logic for a lot of it.

Terrible conditions. Both sets of backs virtually anonymous. A great battle up front.

Probably the worst refereeing I've seen all season. Some bizarre calls. It was like he just forgot the laws at times. Began reffing it like it was the 1980's.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,453 ✭✭✭Wegians89

Think so yeah, think himself and Ryan will start a few together with Beirne either at 6 or on the bench.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,437 ✭✭✭KaneToad

Jackman has been at the Christmas sherry with those Zebo comments

  • Registered Users Posts: 341 ✭✭bingobango12

Switched over at the final whistle. What did Jackman say?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,437 ✭✭✭KaneToad

"Is there a chance that Zebo might come into the reckoning for the green shirt."

One for the purists, as they say. Shocking conditions just didn't suit how this Muster team want to play.

Crowley with a mixed bag; the rip and improvised break and grubber down the blindside examples of some good play, the missed touch an example of poor, but more good than bad.

Often typical of a game at this time of year tho, given the conditions I don't think either team will take much from the game other than the result, and move on.

If people don’t want to read page after page of people complaining about referring, then the referees would really want to get better. I admit I’m biased, but those looked like red cards to me, some of the supposed mitigations were baffling.

How many times did Brace put his whistle to his lips to blow a penalty but then not bother.

Strip all that away, and strip away the weather. Munster yet again flattering to deceive, Munster are a lot like Man Utd post Ferguson. They’ll always be mentioned but realistically there is much better teams in this league and several in Europe. Yes they are struggling with injuries and you’ll delude yourselves thinking they’ll make a huge difference but really will they. Would they beat a La Rochelle in top form ? Absolutely not and you are kidding yourself if you think they would even come close.

If people don’t want to read page after page of people complaining about referring...

People on the internet always complain about the referee, regardless of the sport.

Are we entering the All You Can Eat worlds next year?

  • Registered Users Posts: 22 Leeinnnnnnster

lol yeah, ok. Ye got absolutely manshamed with the ref playing 16.

The righteous order of Irish rugby has been restored. Big Joe will train up RG nicely, next year.

Munster seem to pick up endless injuries.

Ironically they played the one team in ireland who could sustain that level of attrition.

I feel like i didn’t learn much from that. Munster had better goal line defense than i expected. McCarthy and Conan looked great i thought. I thought Crowley looked great behind the worse pack again.

Munster need to get healthy. Same story as last year. Clarke played well at hooker but he was on the jersey reds before this. They cannot have multiple injuries at hooker and second row and feasibly compete in either competition.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,914 ✭✭✭Rigor Mortis

In attacking terms Munster offered nothing tonight. They were gritty in defence at times, but even taking the conditions into account, the only weapon that Munster used was a cross field kick.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,980 ✭✭✭randomname2005

They do, and sometimes it is because they are looking to find excuses for a loss, other times trying to understand the interpretation of the laws. Many times, for both teams, I was confused. Case in point is what happened to Hugo Keenan. Ball hits his chest, nowhere near his arms and it is called as a knock on, after a couple of instances in the world cup where it was explained that only arms are involved in a knock on.
