agents may only have limited dates for a band in europe and ireland can easily be left out as more travel involved.

agents may want artist to concentrate on certain cities and markets and doesn’t offer a promoter any dates.

some acts/agents are exclusive with a promoter and promoter here could just not be bothered to book the artist. Agents may only work with one promoter here and they won’t offer the act to another.

venue availability is a factor to a small degree than the above.

Underperformance is, you must remember that promoters only make money when a show is 90/95% sold out.

small shows make promoters barely if any money. Only so many hours in a day so promoters need to devote time to booking acts that can sell 1,000 plus tickets.

for Medium sized acts the fee they require sometimes just doesn’t make sense in ireland outside of a festival content and if touring schedule doesn’t exactly tie in to festivals here then it’s out of luck. For example the fee m83 was looking for on recent European just didn’t make sense for any promoter to risk

Insurance is a killer for costs here; but the main one is Ireland was almost always an addendum to a UK tour, but now has completely different rules; so we'd be tacked to a EU tour for non-UK based acts.

If you've a lot of staging and glued Ireland in between two UK shows, that option is gone.

In Dublin you can play to 1000 people or 14000 nothing in between

Yeah, there isn’t demand enough for 5000 cap venue. Simply not enough bands that’s would sell out 150-200 nights a year at that level to make it feasible.

we don’t miss out on many acts that that can sell 5,000 tickets here. They either do a iveagh, trinity, fairview or summer festival

If we'd been left a heritage venue like, say, the Theatre Royal which would probably be 5k if the floor had been levelled like in Brixton; it'd probably be able to keep going - but the tens or maybe hundreds of millions it would cost to build one new is prohibitive.

Probably 50 concerts in those venues every year at least

A lot of those acts just do multiple vicar or Olympia. They still end up playing here.

most international bands might have rough idea of touring plans for next year but agents/managers are ultimately the ones who decide which offers to take and which countries to play.

onky in a very few limited situations is the artist personally involved like garth brooks and croke park.

simmonscourt was used for snoop dogg recently. It’s not used that often as no point when you have an underused 3 arena.

silo Dublin does not use rds simmonscourt, it’s uses Hall 2 in the main building as it’s location for occasional club nights.

the club might not going to go 2:30/3am is by design. Following same model used in printworks/warehouse project. Day parties are more lucrative proposition as means people on site earlier, spending more money on site etc.
