I don't think that's practical for Irish interests.

As for the moral aspect, I think many of these lesser countries aren't as blameless as you think. Often there are local massacres, sometimes ethnically motivated. Even if Europeans never existed genocides, stolen land, racism and other trouble could be just as bad. Nobody wants to hear that, or they think it "doesn't count".

I heard an African academic say that Islamic religious solidarity was behind the relative whitewashing of the Indian Ocean slave trade. Since the descendants of slaves and slave-traders are both Muslim, they would rather people think white Western Europeans are mainly to blame for slavery.

It's not so much that I'm feeding into it, as that I don't believe other people would have the stomach for the kind of sacrifices it would entail.

Unofficially and informally, we are leaning on US/UK for military protection. So we would need to be armed to the teeth to be independent - military spending, universal conscription, Switzerland-style access to firearms etc.

To expand trade, multilingualism.

This is what it would take to be truly 'non-aligned' imo.

Yet we have gone in the complete opposite direction since the 1960s. Native tendencies (including Catholicism and Irish nationalism) have been replaced with cultural subordination to Anglo-American assumptions and beliefs. That has been partly by propaganda, but also partly by choice.

EU integration has also helped this indirectly. Post-1945, 'Europe' is an America-friendly Europe despite surface disagreements. Germany will not seriously defy America and I would have said that even before the Ukraine war but now it is obvious to everyone.

So where does that leave us really? If we want to join the Non-Aligned Movement with India, Egypt and Pakistan we've a long ways to go.

Question:

Will the elites "solve' global warming by starting a nuclear war?

They are certainly spending enough trying to set up a colony on Mars and nuclear bunkers and stuff.

So it just seems to me the west want to start a nuclear war with Russia. This , to their way of thinking will set off and nuclear winter and sort out overpopulation.

Am I wrong?
