Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

We'll Jota himself was sent off against Spurs for not even making contact with a player so who knows. The keeper clipped him and there's been plenty given for similar over the years for the barest of touches.

The ball from macallister to jota for the pen was out of this world

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,974 ✭✭✭✭Osmosis Jones

He's not as good defensively as Endo but he makes us a much stronger threat in those transition situations.

    Mo always going to shoot

    Should have squared it

Commentator does my head in more than Neville with his stupid raised voice full name stuff everytime there is a chance.

If we can get him into his best position he'll be a serious operator for us. Has been very good playing out of position but he has so much more to give.

Mo is still the best player in the World

Brilliant game,if not heart attack stuff at times,I thoroughly enjoyed that

It's great to be 3 points clear on top

    Happy new year to all

Top of the league. Great goal difference. LIVERPOOL

    (Joelinton should’ve been sent off)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,659 ✭✭✭The Rooster

    And…..relax

Definitely our best performance of the season in the league. Bang at it from minute 1, no tippy tappy crap, high tempo, created loads of chances. Very unlucky not to score twice in the first half with the very marginal offside and missed peno. And 4 in the second. Well done men

    Klopp

    Hahahhahahahaha

Almost in trouble with the missus

Imagine we had the charisma-void of Ten Hag in charge

    Klopps dropped his wedding ring

The Jota pen is not a pen for me

Another case of VAR finding an excuse to let the onfield decision stand.

He must have lost his bearings cos that was a tap on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,656 ✭✭✭theoneeyedman

He was excellent. A word too for Joe Gomez, probably the most consistent performer over the Xmas period, all while playing out of position. He gives us a solidity there, and allows for Jones and Trent to attack more gwe may have tripped onto our best formation by accident.

He's back to moving the ball nice and quick again and that's when he's at his best.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,111 ✭✭✭Akabusi

Jones was brilliant, Endo not far behind.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,521 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

    Liverpool top

    Salah top

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,518 ✭✭✭✭noodler

    Joe and Jones very good.

I won't go on about Nunez again.

Gravenberch had one nice ball to Salah but his cameos have generally infuriated me. He just saunters around making bad passes and not getting stuck in.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,613 ✭✭✭eigrod

    Diaz so improved tonight too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,521 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

City away to Newcastle next, a Newcastle side due a result, I think odds are on them not losing...........again

Arsenal away in the FA Cup next weekend. I think we’ll have a very changed team out for that one with the Fulham semi-final next midweek. Salah and Endo gone now. Szobo went off holding his hammy so doubt he’ll be risked.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,407 ✭✭✭✭TitianGerm

The face on Mo when they asked him if he had any doubts about taking the second penalty 😂

    If you believe in xG....

    Liverpool 7.27 Newcastle 0.59.!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,407 ✭✭✭✭TitianGerm

Gravenbach, Mac Allister and Elliot for Arsenal. Jones instead of Gravenbach if he's 100% after putting in a serious shift tonight.

Then Jones, Gravenbach and Mac Allister for Fulham with Elliot RW.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,521 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

    Yep

Plus it's a Saturday 5.30 TV game under the lights. Not an easy place to go under those conditions

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,521 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

Winning the league will be 80% what we do , 10% what Arsenal fail to do and 10% what City fail to do

We need a bit of luck

Eddie Howe thinks Longstaff should have had a clear peno. Madness. What was he looking at?

No love lost between EH and Klopp, love it.

Thought Diaz and Nunez were better today than they've been in a while.

The back 4 plus were solid, Gomez gpomg great. Jones flying it and Endo better each game, understands and executes the press perfectly, clever player, sets the tone.

Mo 2nd half was unplayable, maybe helped by a tiring Magpies team plus some exquisite balls into him.

Class subs from Klopp, completely changed what Newcastle needed to do to thwart us, required even more energy with us dropping deeper, and they couldn't handle it.

Endo is gonna be a big loss for the next 8 games. He has really be the main man in that midfield in the last month or so. He's so combative, gives everything and now that he is settled, he knows when to press high and when to drop. Knows when to take a smart foul/card too. Luckily MacAlister is back but after an injury there is worry about sharpness, fitness etc.

Don't need to talk about how much of a loss Salah is.

Jones was great tonight. He slowed it down at the right time but also played it quickly at the right time too. Tonight, he did that Gini arse turn on the ball brilliantly IMO. Pressing was very good also. He's sometimes the main main in the press.

Hopefully Gomez can stay fit now as he is playing very well, certainly in a defensive POV. Diaz returning to his old form is helping to provide threat down that wing which masks Gomez not providing the width. Which is fine for Gomez as tbf he's a right footed CB playing LB.

Overall great attacking performance. You don't rack up 7.53 xg for nothing! Starting the year off nicely - Liverpool, top of the league.

Interesting what Klopp said there about starting Nunez as he would keep Botman & Schar together and give more space to the wide areas for Diaz/Salah.

If we were to finish this season with our only loss being that game against Spurs...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,407 ✭✭✭✭TitianGerm

It definitely worked. Diaz had more space when receiving the ball and had his best game in months. It was great to see.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,518 ✭✭✭✭noodler

Visits to Old Trafford and Emirates still to come tbf!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,302 ✭✭✭✭rob316

Don't think the chances nunez had were misses, more good saves. Some of his touches were brutal though, falling over the ball. He's still contributing though, klopp will give him every chance to improve his finishing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,974 ✭✭✭✭Osmosis Jones

Yeah don't think we'll finish on 1 loss, though it'll probably be at home to Palace or some other annoying result.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 783 ✭✭✭patsy sally

Crazy game should of had at least another 4 maybe 5 goals on top of what was scored, was szoboszlai rubbing his hamstring when going off was in pub watching it but couldn't hear the commentary with some noisy clowns, another 3 on the board and on to the fa cup this weekend

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,049 ✭✭✭Ikozma

If Jones doesn't dilly dally on the ball he generally plays well which he did tonight, and as others have said gomez didn't put a foot wrong either and has been top class the last few mths

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,049 ✭✭✭Ikozma

I wonder will we see thiago soon what with the boys heading off and some cup games coming up
