I can literally see 3 Christmas trees from my front door as well. Love it.

Yeah the commercialism of Christmas drives me up the wall!!

    Exactly Poof…Gone I hate it

I think not going near a shop from Christmas Eve morning till the New Year did me the world of good this year, thankfully I didn’t need to, so the sadness didn’t come

The little elf just tested +ve for COVID. Had his birthday party yesterday and on the way I found that one child who wasn't coming cos he was sick, had COVID, and the other I found out when I got there, also has it. They're all in the same class in school. Anyway last night he claims to be coughing (not enough for me to notice to be fair) so we tested him earlier and immediate positive. Now we have to buy more tests so we can all test. Before the oldest elf gets a train to Limerick to sit in a two hour class and then school on monday, and before myself and the other one head back to school on monday.

Although if I couldn't go to work I'd have to work on my college assignments instead.... silver linings and all that 🫤

Came into work during the week and coworker had randomly bought me more Christmas decorations in a sale. Aunt also put by another nutcracker ornament for me. I'm telling you I just need the house to put around the decorations now :-P

Booked a few days away in June with a couple of pals a few minutes ago so that's something to look forward to on these dreary winter days.

This week is really going to look and feel like Christmas should. I still see a few house with wreaths and outside lights but haven't seen any surviving trees.

Ah, what a lovely dark icy morning. I'm glad terms such as 'Blue Monday' and 'January blues' don't have any psychological effect on me.

    *sobs uncontrollably*

WFH today but just dropped the kids to school about half an hour ago, absolutely baltic, car was like an ice cube & took a few minutes of defrosting & scraping of ice off windows before we could drive safely. The whole area is white with a blanket of frost. Loks pretty, feels slightly less so!

Cold one out there but the roads were grand TG. I absolutely hate ice & snow as I have to drive the kids to school on small country lanes that are very hilly & not on any gritting route.

No blue Monday here - the sun is shining in spite of the cold & we had a lovely chilled out weekend. Went for dinner in my parents yesterday evening & saw a neighbours house still lit up so that made my day.

    I know your pain.

The main road from the M8 Watergrasshill exit to the northside of Cork is a winding, narrow, and hilly country road. Never gritted

It's stunning out today!I'm in town and walking to the bus stop at half 6 wasn't the nicest but I can't wait to go for a walk around town on my lunch perfect fresh weather for a wander.

I'm not feeling the blue Monday blues either. I've been paid twice since Christmas so I'm just my normal level of broke and I was out all weekend doing fun things.

Absolutely beautiful winter morning out there this morning, the bins, cars and some surface area were frozen over, thankfully the roads and footpaths were not!

I couldn't shake the song "A Winter's Tale" by David ESSEX this morning while out on the walk, so I had to play it which i think is allowable as it contains no mention of Christmas.... which gives me an idea.

We took down our tree and decorations on Saturday though I spotted a small Merry Christmas sign on the kitchen door yesterday that I totally missed! There's always something. I was a bit sad to see them taking down the lights in the village on Saturday morning too but they hadn't been on for a few nights (same as my tree). I feel like they were up for longer last year but I could be wrong.

Went for a lovely walk this morning, very cold but stunning blue skies. It’s a beautiful day here.

It was pitch black when I was heading to work today, so didn't get to see any of this lovely morning! I can see a definite stretch in the evenings over the last couple of weeks, but can't wait to see a little bit of light in the am too! ☀️

I left work a little early on Friday (just after 4pm) & was delighted to see it was still daylight when i was nearly home, in saying that the traffic was unusually light so I got home in about half the time I normally would. Was still nice to be going home in daylight though.

There was a hint of brightness when I was leaving work this evening just after 5, and a gorgeous little crescent moon. 🌙

Today the sunset was at 4.38pm, and the Tuesday after the bank holiday it will be 5.17pm. That'll be some difference!

And the following Tuesday will be Pancake Day. 😁 🥞

I took the dogs across some fields for a walk at 15:30, still not even dusk getting home. Beautiful and crisp early evening for a walk

Set to get to -4 on Thursday. Bring it on haha.

Just back from a nice walk, bitter cold but clear and crisp so the cold doesn't eat in at you like the damp does. Love this kind of weather.

I got out today for two walks today lovely bright skies this morning and in the dark this evening it was so peaceful like a Christmas Eve walk, I love this weather

What I wouldn't give to have this weather for Christmas week.

  • Registered Users Posts: 898 ✭✭✭BK5

Yes, was out tonight and it didn't feel that cold even though there was frost on the cars. It was dry and very little wind, it's no wonder with our damp climate that minus 10 in other countries feels more tolerable than minus 1 here.

So cold. So very cold. Have the stove lit, and Whiskey neat. Screw dry January.
