New Business openings and closures around you?

DL store has lost its food hall this month but they are keeping the space i believe to reconvert to homeware.

They are opening a small food store and cafe in Monkstown.

Stillorgan store looks to have gone due to their other stores performance, especially now Dundrum is opened.

Does anyone know how they havent been hit with vacant property tax for the empty store on Grafton St?

Maybe they dont own it?

The old tesco, dunnes and the sports shop that never got a permanent tenant are all big units. Surely the shopping centre would be better off taking a hit on some rent and having tenants and more footfall. Kilkenny always seems half empty or have constant sales on

Could do with a homeware type store, a big fashion brand, a sostrene grene or tiger etc

Theres some elderly, as they die family’s are moving into their houses . The populations is absolutely booming.

Agree tbf they just need a validator system - 2 hours parking for free and get your ticket validated with a purchase over 10 euro etc like LIDL do

I don't think I'll ever quite get the obsession for people who are happy to go out and spend on food, drink, shopping, entertainment but expect society at large to subsidise their need for storage space.

Parking charges apply to the Lidl car park. Stillorgan is 'free' for up to 3 hrs ... not sure what happens after that? is it actually monitored? they are proposing to bring in hourly charge.

Anymore what? I don't ever remember the cannibalism of carpenters ever being very popular in Ireland.

Dunnes in stillorgan is closing down. Surprised it's lasted so long tbh never seemed to be very busy.

The Kiosk in DLSC is to close down this Saturday been there years end of an era

There was a leak in the ceiling over the kitchen that caused some damage - they were working on it the last time I was in.

Wouldn't agree with you about Blackrock. Some great restaurants recently opened, there's a nice atmosphere around the place I love what they've done with the main street it's so much better than before

Agreed, first time in Blackrock in quite a while recently and it was great. So much so we went back again the following weekend to try another cafe for lunch! Some fantastic food and drink choices along the main street and no traffic clogging the street. Council has done a great job there. How anyone would be opposed to this is beyond me.

i have to say the blackrock changes are a success imo, plenty of people eating outside the various cafes etc you couldnt say it hasnt been a good thing.

They need to do something similar in dalkey, the main street isnt suitable as a two way road any longer.

They need to make the path between the DART station and Blackrock wider.

Thindi in Dundrum ( in shadow of Luas bridge in old school book outlet) is looking close to opening. A pallet of large cardboard boxes delivered today... looks like food items!

The old post office isn’t a coffee shop and hasn’t been for about 5 years

AIB moved over to Frascati SC in the last few years. It is definitely still in Blackrock although to some posts in this thread it is not manned with limited or no staff.
