Kilkenny were poor yesterday and although a pre pre season management will be a bit dissapointed. Wexford tactically bamboozled Kilkenny at times with their set up and Kilkenny very naively let jacko sit off Corcoran unmarked and he picked up 6 or 7 points which ultimately won them the match.

Conditions were woeful and alot of lads only starting off but some of the clearances from kk was awful.it would of being robbery if kk won and they very easily could of. Zach and andy hickey both tried hard when they came on.

Theres loads of lads to come back but yesterday was some players biggest match of the year and they will be dissapointed how they went. For wexford they knew what what they were doing and jason ryan and david franks have being working hard. This time last year they beat kk in Wexford park under lights and only won 3 more matches all year so they have to back it up now. Kk wont panic but lads around the fringes wont keep getting chances, lads have to take their chances.

Best of luck to loughlins today. A dirty day for everyone but they've being great ambassadors for the county and hopefully they can finish the job today.

Wexford have certainly got our number the last couple of years.

When you say the young lads from Tullogher haven't shown anything what are you referring to?

  • Registered Users Posts: 139 ✭✭cw girl

Is there extra time today if the match ends level?

  • Registered Users Posts: 117 ✭✭jamesbond2022

How about you ‘’change” the record were a month into the year and your still spouting the same guff as last year

I believe so, the football has gone to extra time in recent years when level

Wexford played very very like Ballygunnar yesterday, stick pass accuracy to the hand and running off the shoulder at speed hand passes.

Jason Ryan constantly communicating from the line too, but like said before Wexford need to do when it counts in May/June not in January.

They have some very good young hurlers too it must be said.

OLG will be very sore about that 'goal' that wasn't awarded there if they dont win this, looked way over the line

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,452 ✭✭✭Comerman

At least a foot over the line

  • Registered Users Posts: 529 ✭✭✭Conversations 3

Definitely be a red card before this match is over.

OLG are getting under the Galway lads skin

Definitely over the line. Could be more up at half time but they have the winning of this. Ball into corners working well. They just need to concentrate on their hurling. A goal will be a big score either way.

I've only started watching since the start of the second half, but OLG aren't playing that well, even with the extra man

  • Registered Users Posts: 539 ✭✭✭usualstripes

Desperately disappointing to lose it. Going a man up for the whole 2nd half and not taking their chances. Conditions cruel. Very hard to control the ball but ab unreal point to win it for Thomas's. Hard luck loughlins. Some very peculiar decisions on the day from the referee but that's hurling for you.

  • Registered Users Posts: 529 ✭✭✭Conversations 3

Loughlins didn't turn up in the second half, that sending off ruined them.

    Referee and umpires were shocking

  • Registered Users Posts: 525 ✭✭✭corner back 2

Officiating all round was very poor for an All Ireland final. Stack was out of his depth, both linesmen got decisions wrong and don't need to comment on umpires. Appreciate the difficulty of the conditions but decisions were very poor at times. Almost forgot to add the completely one sided commentary from TG4 got more and more grating as match went on.

Disappointing for O'Loughlins because of the not given goal but they were very poor for a lot of that second half. Officials were unbelievably bad, everyone makes mistakes and it's not an easy role but they made some gigantic errors today.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,898 ✭✭✭Charlie69

O’Loughlins very poor in the second half and the sending off ( looked harsh) seemed to hurt them more than St Thomas’s….

Thomas’s went very deep and O’Loughlins kept running the short puck out into traffic and losing possession. They were playing through the lines nicely in the first half.

Sean Stack is a very poor referee and the officials had a nightmare today but ultimately Loughlins lack of firepower up front caught up with them today.

  • Registered Users Posts: 953 ✭✭✭conor05

They were poor after the sending off but my god that umpire looking right at the ball a foot over the line must be either blind as a bat or was afraid of his life to make a big call so early in an All Ireland club final.

Say what you want but at this level that level of umpiring is not acceptable.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,898 ✭✭✭Charlie69

Yeah it’s unacceptable really that they couldn’t come to the right decision given all the technology available to them in Croke Park. A certain goal so very hard for Loughlins to take.

Because if they weren’t good enough last year there not good enough this year

if you can’t see what’s going on

each selector has one from home club on team

Guifoyle very poor for village last year taking off in most games not started in others he is in kilkenny team

Doyle has showed he not ready he is in team

The Clara player showed last year not good enough

Ryan still in there he showed he not good enough

mossy showed he not good enough

    and all on team yesterday

    where s the progress there

everyone talked about Brennan puck out

better than Murphy did not seem that way yesterday

every comment I make I put facts to them

    so contradict facts

now people saying O’Loughlin’s were robbed

no mention of 2 O’Loughlin’s players should have being sent off heary and molley

the sad thing is O’Loughlin’s could win the county final with them forwards if they had Jonny Walsh they be all Ireland champs

any one at O’Loughlin’s and mullinavat last year would have seeing Walsh way above any O’Loughlin’s forward 3 O’Loughlin’s brought in what a joke

    Did it though?

It was their firepower up front that scored a perfectly legitimate goal that was ignored by all in Croker that would of won them the game by 2pts.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,898 ✭✭✭Charlie69

Shocking decision alright and as I said hard to take but they managed the game very poorly with an extra man and to be fair to the forwards they were getting terrible ball in to them in the second half.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,318 ✭✭✭Village87

Sickening for OLG as they will find it hard to get back there. The big players were poor in the 2nd half, Bergin, Deegan and Butler had a tough day at the office

  • Registered Users Posts: 117 ✭✭jamesbond2022

Who from c shock has micheal rice called into the panel if each member of the management has a player from there own club ?

Guilfoyle although poor for his club was one our better players yesterday as was mossy and billy Ryan got a goal

So I don’t know what your looking at

Give me a break j Walsh has got numerous chances in a kk senior jersey and don’t cut the mustard time to move on from that one

Didn't Windgap have 2 or 3 involved with the minors and U20 that won the All Ireland a few years back. Sean Purcell and Jack Doyle. Would they be worth a run along with some of the other U20s

  • Registered Users Posts: 288 ✭✭jimmythesulk

Hard luck o loughlins. On the goal, these sort of things shouldn't be happening in this day and age with all the technology available. We got the luck for it a few years ago with the under 20s versus Limerick and Paddy Langton scoring a point that never went over the bar. Will be plenty of more instances in the future unless the gaa acts now.

  • Registered Users Posts: 616 ✭✭✭BoroMan32

Jordan Molloy should have got the line for the head movement into an opponent; and the Thomas's red card was a joke decision. (One of many from a referee who was hopeless).

The goal will obviously be a sore point, but felt the better team won. The winning score from Eanna Burke (and his other score (Thomas's 16th point)) were things of beauty.

O'Loughlins lost their shape with the extra man, Bergin (awful effort for the free at the end), Wall, Heary, etc etc all went missing.

If memory serves me right, the Thomas's number 14 was on a yellow card and fouled twice more after it but ref bottled it. It was him who scored that fantastic point in the end.

O'Loughlins will always struggle as they just don't have the forwards. Their backs get shown up at times as they're pressing up too far to get the scores, thus leaving gaps in the backs. Paddy Deegan gets forward far too often for my liking and Derek Lying needs to sort him out for Kilkenny. Mikey Butlers firm is of concern too.
