Are people living in Sheds/boiler houses?

Maybe the gentleman is storing stuff in the shed or using the shed for his hobbies.

Id say its a garden room.

He is probably hiding there from the wife when she asks him to do the dishes.

Well there are cases discussed here of people who rent out glorified sheds to desperate foreigners. There was an infamous example near where my mother lives of a slum king who rented one house out to about 20 Roma gypsies. There was a group of them in a shed in the garden that was heated by an oven with no door. Nice and toasty, I imagine.

This is a fairly tongue and cheek thread, but there are people sleeping in tents on the street, people sharing bedrooms with four other people and people in their 40s living with their parents. It's a safe assumption that yes, there are people who are living in sheds and boilers.

And vans.

Saw a news story some unfortunate guy in west cork who was living in his van had it seized and impounded by the guards. Talk about the system punching down.

I'll bet there are adult children living in converted garages and sheds up and down the country undeclared.

Probably rented already so the ad is gone. Sherry Fits were the agent.

+1 on this. The wholesale removal of bedsit style accommodation, rather than better standards and enforcement of them, has played a huge role in the explosion of our housing crisis.

Cohorts of people who would previously have availed of bedsits? Are now competing with couples and families at the low end of the rental market. House-sharing doesn't suit many and as supply of low end of housing constricts? More and more people are competing for fewer and ever more expensive rentals.

...or maybe we just need to build a hell of a lot more modern one and two bed apartments.......

...no need to be going back to hovels folks, just build whats actually required, we ll always have these available to us then, for when people move on with their lives, and require standard 3/4 bed houses.....

People don't live in the Boilerhouse.

Read it again, regulated bedsits. Surely there is a mid way between "hovel" and plush "studio apartment".

But even "hovel" is better than a tent, no?
