It can be changed from miles to km and vice versa in the iDrive infotainment system.

And unless it's being sold by a BMW dealer (who gives a 2 year used car warranty) then the original 3 year unlimited mileage manufacturer's warranty has already expired on a 4 year old model. The hybrid battery should still have the balance of the 8 year/160k km warranty.

If a 2020 330e is gen 4 then yes it's 6 years 100k km. If it's gen 5 then 8 years 160k km.

The hybrid system isn’t in addition to that warranty. If you buy one over the manufacturer’s limit and it goes wrong you’re on your own even if it the rest of the car is under the UK one year or two year Irish warranty.

Wasn’t there a poster here who had a €7k repair bill for one of these recently? I’d avoid without a comprehensive warranty.

If that was me, BMW quoted me well over €3k(close to €4k IIRC) for one of 5 modules to be replaced. The actual battery itself is only around €700 which I had zero issue with. The real issue was that they would not commit to that being the final bill before beginning their work.

Each module needs to be balanced with the others, and so if after installing the new module, and a full test is run, they find that it is not compatible, you are then on the hook for potentially another €2800 for four more new modules, plus additional labour.

The final repair bill was not €1k, or even close tbh. I was the first customer to have it done here as far as I know, so I did get a discount on the €3200 now advertised, but the key difference with Vitronix, is that the repair is a set price while it could be at least double at BMW.

If it were me, I'd put the €3200 into a car with a warranty from the get go, as there a quite a few other expensive parts in a €330e which can fail.

As my 330e approaches 201kms (it’s been faultless in 3 years I’ve owned it from 130kms), this thread makes me nervous 😬

And you obviously have evidence in writing that the hybrid system is excluded from the Approved AUC warranty.

Not sure to be honest. At a guess it's probably 4th generation as the current 3 Series has been around since 2019, with 5th generation being the likes of the new 5 or 7 Series hybrids.

If you give a BMW dealer the car's reg or VIN they will tell you the duration of the original warranty on the battery. 4th gen is 6 years or 100k km. 5th gen is 8 years or 160k km from the article I posted.
