'Kingspan' Box

I have 2" Kingspan type sheets here. Only, these are wafered between layers of thin, steel cladding. Made at a local factory. No idea what for. But, they look like they could insulate a small shipping container. Getting the picture?

I just want to make a box structure out of them. Only, I want to be able to dismantle, then reassemble it. Gaffer tape comes immediately to mind, doesn't it? Not That strong though. And would Look a bit redneck.

Any form of Bolting / Screwing / Bracketing I'm not thinking of, please, lads?

    Thanks 🙂

A few flashings or 25x25 gypsum angle should do the trick. I'd put the sides in first and then slot the ceiling panel on top of it so all the angles are doing very little work. A box of 13mm wafer head screws and that'd be it.

First they came for the socialists...

" Flashings "! So, That's what it's called? Excellent. I've seen that sort of stuff. I'll have a closer look, and an ask, today 👍️

25mm Angle wouldn't be big enough. That's c. 1"? 2" sheets? Need to be 3" x 3", surely, to over lap? What ever. I'll look for Flashing. See where that leads me.

Got this, '5.5cm' U Channelling. Sort of came with it. (Sorry to have to flit between metric and normal. Not that clever at reading the small print, on tapes) That covers the edges beautifully. White. Wonder if I can get anything in white? Blend in better?

Those screws too! Perfect, Thanks! Didn't know they existed. Like 'Tek' screws, without all that head sticking out so? Perfect! 😊

Flashings are the word of the day. It's these things:

You should aim for PVC coasted steel.

    Example from a builder's supplier:

Trim back enough insulation to stick some 2x4s on each side like a picture frame.

Use them to bolt/screw the sides together.

Note that you dont need a framework on each piece, just 1 per joint.

I would probably do 1 picture frame for the top and one for the bottom and then bolt the 4 sides to that.

Just got home, lads. Builders yard was, as ever, ****. At least they had some of Feisars screws. Happily, my lift back was the lad who got me the panels in the first place. He has access to what they use to box with them. Sounds like they use a smaller angle, on the inside, bigger one out?

Sorry to be so vague. Had my hearing aids in. Not sure if it was engine noise, or my simple lack of comprehension? Perhaps a bit of one causing the other?

@GreeBo ... That's All I needed to hear! 😂 Knew some bugger would come up with it! Done that, already. Figured it as somewhere to stick the hinges.

2 x 3 sunk in there. I'll pop a few screws down the outer, blind side to hold that in place.

Yea. Great idea! Only, for the love of god, could someone not have invented a 'Brace and Bit' style 'Hand Router'? I'd Really be happy enough never to have to do that again. Not the only way I have available to me. Wasn't hard to do. Looks great, actually. Just an aggravating job.

Yeah. I'll buy what They use. They're the pro's. Should have thought They'd have sussed out the best way, by now 😬

Guy I'll need is away for a week or two. It'll have to sit there, for now. I'm good at that 🙂

    Thanks, lads.
