Is the protected urea worth the extra €70? Never used it.

Hiw nany gallons/acre did you spread, dribble bar or spout. I presume it for sucklers.

With the rain forecast I be slow spreading. When you do ordinary urea and sulphur or will depend on what slurry you spread and whether it rained within 48 hours

If it was anyway dry for the 48 hours after spreading, I would not spread anything on it until May. Urea&Sulphur will be grand probably ordinary urea, maybe protected if it runs later in May.

It should be grand until then if it was any way dry after the urea went out. The wateryslurry would have put 15-20 units of N out in it

Don't believe that about the dribble bar being too heavy. Only thing is if he only has a 7.5 metre he'd do more runs in the field. 3500 gals with splash plate would choke waterlogged land even more you'd imagine

As someone that mows a lot of silage for different lads all I can say is they’re a p***k of a yoke if ever there was one.

I do take pictures of the mess they’ve made of silage and have to bring out the farmers to explain it to them as well. Trails of slurry up and down the field everywhere that turned to a crust on the top of the ground. Between mowing tedding and raking it’s all in the rows of grass then and contaminating it. Not what you want in your winter feed.

From what I’ve seen the only way a dribble bar can be used effectively is to have the slurry as watery as pig slurry and spread it in wet weather.

Trailing shoe would be a better job but the slurry still has to be very watery, especially if dry weather is forecast.

Not too many tanks this year with room to add water.

with April rolling on and no meadows shock and it will at least next weekend before we would be fit to travel the ground at least if now the following week. There is very little grass cover on my meadows and no slurry out on them I was going to go 4 bags of cut sward but wondering is it better to go with less 3bags and cut it early and do a second cut ?? Any lads in the same boat? Or better to go heavy and leave it until mid June? Instead of start of June to cut?

4 bags sounds like a lot with no slurry out. Would ya be better with a compound seeing as it's silage ground. Unless your P&Ks are up, a compound would be better I think. Rule of thumb is 2 units N/day is used. Use that in your figures based on the date you hope to cut
