Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

At least that was a good hit from Diaz, our best strike thus far

Yep, hit in hope from distance when there were better passes on. Liverpool profligate so far

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,532 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

Gakpo hanging on the shoulder, waiting for someone to get a ball into him or over him, but it never comes

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,097 ✭✭✭hawaii501

How many shots have we had from outside but all rubbish.

Any other game and they never try to shoot from outside. On today's evidence I can see why!

Diaz is doing well to keep showing up - but Christ, nothing is working for him. That first touch should really be forcing him in front of the defender

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,369 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

unfortunately, the pressure is on Diaz to deliver. he's the one who can drive and stretch the defence. I think he knows it too. lots of panic in his decisions and execution. needs to calm the f*ck down.

Infuriating… the midfield doing pretty well, giving plenty of good quick ball into the forwards - who just can’t get anything going.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,137 ✭✭✭happyoutscan

    This is annoying as hell.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,982 ✭✭✭✭Osmosis Jones

Genuinely what is this tactic for Kelleher to keep lumping it up to a target man that doesn't exist?

Diaz needs to switch sides already,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,108 ✭✭✭mada999

brain dead up front... no composure....no pace either... Luton marking man for man in patches.. needs to be more movement up front.... I dont like Grav and Gakpo in the same team... just not dynamic enough

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,102 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

He’s found Diaz chest a few times alright, so there’s some merit to it, but needs to change it up too

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,410 ✭✭✭✭TitianGerm

Maybe Robertson at half time for Gomez and just have him bomb into the box in the second half? Other than that maybe Adrian out on the RW because there's not much left.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,342 ✭✭✭Ardent

Three points lost here unless there's a drastic change of some sort.

Gravenberch, Gakpo and Elliott out of form and it shows. Elliott in particular having an absolute stinker.

Tough half, but made plenty of inroads, can still get a positive here

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,410 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

Looking like a team missing its 3 best forwards.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,584 ✭✭✭mormank

Well that was a very disappointing first half. Everyone has actually been pretty good to be fair apart from the front 3 who have been abysmal. We could/should easily have 3 or 4 goals but they have been so poor we have 0. Long way back in the second half. We can do it of course but it's looking very very tough now with what we have available on the bench.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,982 ✭✭✭✭Osmosis Jones

We won the ball in the final third 4 or 5 times that half, I think every single turnover resulted in a Liverpool player snatching at a half chance and booting it nowhere near goal from outside the box.

I'd agree with Robbo on, more width and he's struggling a bit against Ogbene anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,108 ✭✭✭mada999

Luton man marking us and no one up front showing for it half the time..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,073 ✭✭✭SuperTortoise

    Grav playing well.

Gakpo's tendancy to shoot from outside the box every time he gets the ball appears to be infecting the rest of the lads, he does it every game and he's not exactly prolific from there.

My kingdom for Salah/Jota/Nunez right now.

Was always going to be tough night with the options available but twice as tough now, have to be doing better when the chances come need an early goal as longer it stays 1.0 more frustrated everybody will become,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,420 ✭✭✭facehugger99

Luton not sitting back which is good.

If the front 3 can calm down and show some composure, we can still get a win.

All of the midfielders are playing grand, doing their jobs - they keep winning the ball back quickly, and slipping it through but christ all of the front 3 are really struggling. Gakpo started well, but has drifted out of the game since. Diaz is at least showing for things (unlike his poor patch earlier in the season) but he can't get anything right. Elliott is doing alright around the fringes, but keeps being too slow (in both speed and thought) in the decisive moments.

It feels like we're gonna need one of the midfielders to overlap and do the forwards job for them.

Need to get a draw at a minimum, uphill battle to get that and hard to see us winning unless things change drastically in the second half 🙏

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,710 ✭✭✭✭machiavellianme

12 shots to 5 but nothing to show for it. Stick Mac up front and put Robbo on the left

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,982 ✭✭✭✭Osmosis Jones

Diaz is playing for those fouls but he's not gonna get the majority of them, wish he'd just keep on his feet and fight for it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,102 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Ha, the yellows being shared around the backroom staff? Klopp; "John, tell the ref he's a wanker".

    Stop shooting on sight

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,982 ✭✭✭✭Osmosis Jones

Doesn't look like words were had at half time, Elliott with the same shots still

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,102 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Elliott really needs to resist shooting unless he's in the box. Almost never makes good contact.

Jesus Diaz - how many chances like?!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,410 ✭✭✭✭TitianGerm

By my account we've only three of our first choice 11 out there tonight assuming Nunez, Jota and Mo are the starting front three (and have been the form attackers), four if you count Diaz. Tough ask in fairness.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 680 ✭✭✭FernandoTorres

Elliott and Diaz making me want to smash the tv

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,982 ✭✭✭✭Osmosis Jones

Bradley the most mature out there, actually makes the next pass. Diaz should score

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,532 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

Has to be a penalty, to throw hand behind your back to block ball

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,710 ✭✭✭✭machiavellianme

    Never a pen

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,623 ✭✭✭Damien360

I hope I'm wrong but have we anyone at all on the bench so we can take off Diaz.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,102 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Yeah, like it's too early for crazy panicky stuff. If we just stop doing daft wasteful things we'll get better chances like the one Bradley made.

This might sound crazy but I would swap Elliot into midfield and get macca into the front 3. At least we know he has composure in front of goal and id rather a chance drop to him than any of the front 3 right now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,167 ✭✭✭Augme

Diaz and Elliot look like frightened children every time they ball the ball in front of goal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,102 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Or even take him off, move Gomez right, Robertson left, and have Bradley in the front 3.

As I say that, peach of a ball from Elliott.

    Bradley playing in the 8??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,584 ✭✭✭mormank

Yeah. Just skip moving Bradley into midfield and get him into the front 3 altogether!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,102 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

He's ridiculously good. Popping up all over the park, taking on responsibility.

    FUCKING YESSSS!!

    Big captains moment from Virg!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,410 ✭✭✭✭TitianGerm

Playing everywhere by the looks of it.

    Super header from Big Virg.

Gakpo won that corner with a great turn and strike, has to get a bit of credit from the numpty gang
