Remove shelf on Oak TV cabinet

    Heya, Can anyone advise the best way to remove highlighted shelf?

    Not sure if glued, nailed, screwed in? Second photo show underside of shelf..

    When you open the doors, you might see screws holding the shelf in place.

    Probably dowels and glue so inserted at time of manufacture, likely to be difficult to remove cleanly without damaging the shelf. Nice looking solid cabinet so would be reluctant to go messing with it especially as it looks like a good fit for the subwoofer.

    Presume there's no screws or plugs covering the screw heads visible anywhere to enable disassembly?

    I am no DIY'er but as you are going to sacrifice the shelf anyhow - could you cut out a section of the shelf in the centre and allow you then to pull it away from the side connection whether glue or dowel, should give you some leverage.

    Whatever you do though is surely going to leave a 'scar' on the sides where that shelf connected.

    Looks like a properly put together bit of furniture though...

    Thanks yeah, I dont mind damaging the shelf. I have an amp on a separate table to the right of the tv stand, and its quite messy with alot of cables running to it (very visible). Plan to put the amp sitting on top or underneath the centre speaker in the space.. make it look alot tidier..

    Before I had TV on the wall so the amp sat on top of the TV cabinet as their was space, had pyrite so all that got taken down, after pyrite I tried to re-hang the TV, but wouldnt stay, thank god I caught the TV

    Good idea.. might give it a go, it is a pretty hefty piece of furniture

    If it comes out OK, dont mind the scars on the side as you wont see them with the amp / speaker that will fill the space.
