I'm pretty sure my brother in law has a prgr that he bought a couple of years ago and rarely used. If you're interested in a second hand one, I'd imagine he'd sell it at a reasonable price.

The pro shop in Newlands golf club are also selling them for 399 I think with free delivery

Just got mine this week so journey begins.

Did baseline and speed was accurate to mine. I changed temp to Irish levels, sea level and carry only so numbers are accurate to what I'd expect to see on course.

Did 1st Foundation session yesterday. Still feeling my way in but looking forward to seeing how I get on.

If this translates to course it'll be great. If…….

interesting, debating giving this system a go over the winter period.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,770 ✭✭✭coillcam

If you have time and don't mind the cost it's a no-brainer I think. Pair that speed work with a short game session each week, should see the index drop.

Time is relatively low. 20 odd minutes every 3 days or so

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,770 ✭✭✭coillcam

Really, that low of a time investment? Nice one so. That's a nice CHS increase, best of luck with the program and looks to be well worth it.

I was told by a mate you need to do it 4-5 times a week and balance it gym sessions so you're not too tired (for optimal progress). Granted he did NOT own one or ever use it - likely spoofing about reading about a pro online.

That put me off but I'd now strongly consider it for this winter.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,887 ✭✭✭alxmorgan

I have been doing some gym work (separate to this) but to start its defo not 4-5 times a week

Its once every 3 days and 20-25 mins plus warmup

I am only 4 sessions in so will report back as I progress (or not :-) )

If you do decide to go ahead let me know. I have a referral code which saves you money and gives me credit (no idea what for but anyway)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,782 ✭✭✭✭keane2097

If there isn't an expiry date on the referral code please share it with me as I'm sure to purchase some time in the next couple of months.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,887 ✭✭✭alxmorgan

Added referral code to my sig there.

One question actually - do you access to the putting app as well?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,887 ✭✭✭alxmorgan

I do but I don't use it (yet)
FAQs says 2 years free from it

  • Subscribers Posts: 16,603 ✭✭✭✭copacetic

will be interesting to see how you get on, I’ve not used it at all in first year, didn’t play or practise over last winter and has taken me this far into the year to be back playing decent enough golf and back to normal speed, planning to start it up this month for the winter.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 428 ✭✭REFLINE1

Is the App only available with apple devices?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,887 ✭✭✭alxmorgan

Currently yes which is a pain but Android planned - who knows how long though

So out on the course this morning and I can say I see progress.

Numerous drives over 250 and a couple over 260. And thats definitely more than I have been seeing no doubt.

Could I get the same please?

Sasho McKenzie, the founder has an interview with the No Laying Up lads this week too.

Progress being made all the time in numbers

14 out of 18 session in foundation phase done

Clubs likely going away until April ish soon so will be interesting to see what on course numbers look like when I come back after training through the winter.

I do think the CHS shown here is max swinging out of your shoes speed so cruising will be lower. But if I can raise ceiling then the hope is cruising speed follows suit.

I’m having terrible trouble with my Prgr, it’s never given the correct speed. I see some people online saying they have same issue without a ball but there appears to be no option to upgrade firmware etc. it’s still usable but measures everything 10-15 mph lower than expected. Eg I get 90mph driver swings with it when that’s what my 7 irons speed is on trackman and quad. Very frustrating.

have tried various of the websites listing them but haven’t found a way to contact support directly as yet.

I think there are other people on here who had issues with the measurements on the PRGR.

To be fair, I don't think that they were really originally built for dealing with swing speed, without a ball were they (later versions may be set up for it)

And realistically, can you be expecting a tool that costs around 200 to be matching up with a 20k Trackman device?

it’s more that for 90% of people it seems to work really well and stack even have a rebranded on that they sell direct now. I’ve bought a little tripod, leveled it out, trie, 3.5ft, 4ft, 4.5 et. Etc lots of different things. It’s like it’s calibrated incorrectly as it is absolutely consistently 10-15mph low. I’ve even debated taking it to my next lesson and working out the difference exactly across 10 swings with quad and just adding that in to the measurements when putting them into stack. If it was 2-3 mph out and varied up and down that would be fine.

It appears it doesn’t really matter what your absolute speed is though as the programmes are mostly the same at different speeds, but all the distance potentials etc and driver e speeds are way out for me. Eg today it gave me a 83mph stack speed, a driver espeed of 92mph. Which is almost exactly 15mph out.

    Seems a bit mad alright.

Have you taken it to the range and hit balls with it for comparison.

Or have you gotten someone else to try and see if the outputs differ.

Would be great if you could find someone else with a prgr and compare the two

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,934 ✭✭✭Russman

Not sure if it means anything, but you say you have it on a tripod ? I thought the PRGR was meant to be laid on the ground about 4ft back from the ball ? Could this be the issue maybe ?

I have one and it generally seems to be there or thereabouts with what I know to be my driver speed from trackman. I get the odd spurious reading thats way off but its fairly rare, like maybe one in 50 swings or something.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,782 ✭✭✭✭keane2097

Swing speed looks to be reasonably ok on my one but carry/total distance if I hit a ball into the net at home is miles off

  • Subscribers Posts: 16,603 ✭✭✭✭copacetic

It’s got the tripod slot for lifting it a few inches off the ground on a mini tripod, this was an attempt to get it working better when on the ground wasn’t. I get same measurements on the ground at 3 feet away to on the tripod 6 feet away, and anywhere in between. just my unit I think, I saw one online comment where someone’s sensor was offline so by setting it up at various angles he finally found the one that the sensor was actually facing to and used it at that angle, I may try to test that also.

I get those spurious ones a bit more often with stack when on the mini tripod, but with driver it seems to be very consistent. (Consistently wrong in my case!)

I have the same issue with the PRGR but it doesn't impact the stack training IMO. Mine works fine when i take it to the range and hit a ball but when its just swing speed its poor at getting it right. I used it with the incorrect swing speeds prior to the golf season starting this year and was still able to track it ok. Stack just adjusts based on what you are inputting. When it went to compare where I was and i did some swings with a ball i was up around 2-3mph, went from 105/6 to 108-110mph club speed. Ball speed i don't find the PRGR great anyway, nor is the carry great. The Garmin R10 i had was better at those things but you couldn't use it to measure speed without a ball.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,887 ✭✭✭alxmorgan

I guess it doesn't matter if its accurate as long as its consistent. If you are getting 100mph readings but its actually 105 for example ….as long as its consistent and you are making gains then it should still work

  • Subscribers Posts: 16,603 ✭✭✭✭copacetic

I’m going to bring it to my next lesson, although GCquad doesn’t do direct swing speed on practise swings I think. I got on to stack themselves and they said the most likely things is that my body won’t let me swing at the same pace when it knows there is no ball to hit. I.e hitting a ball takes 25% off the speed after try hit so body doesn’t have to slow that down. You unconsciously know this and hold back by up to 25% to not have to try to slow down that much yourself. They reckon it’ll get more realistic over time. I’m unconvinced but sticking with it for now anyway, I inched up a couple of mph with each weight today so who knows, maybe after 18 sessions I’ll get a better match.

I am finding it hard 15 out of 18 sessions in to move needle much on espeed
But i did at the start
Hoping that by Spring I'll see a jump
Also be interesting to see next suggested program based on how this one has gone

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,887 ✭✭✭alxmorgan

Just listened to Sacho on a podcast and figured out you could see percentiles. See below

Seems I am better at lighter weights relatively speaking - although some of the numbers are quite old now.

80th percentile for 195 in set terms.....91st in single swing terms (although looking at date I do 195 at end of every session and it musn't be counting that)

  • Registered Users Posts: 675 ✭✭✭plumber77

That's interesting. I use the speed sticks and find I can swing the medium one almost as fast as the light one. Could never understand why

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,887 ✭✭✭alxmorgan

Podcast is here. Very interesting for those that way inclined 🙂

Even if only 50% of that transfers it'll be a huge gain. I use speedsticks last year. Loved the training. They are releasing an app now as well which is a lot easier. Stack well ahead in that regard.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,887 ✭✭✭alxmorgan

    I would certainly take 50%
Yes the app is great. No thinking - just follow

And the gamification is great. Real punch the air feelings when you beat your records

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,887 ✭✭✭alxmorgan

Did Baseline update there this evening

Driver speed up 3 mph which means 9 yards

Not bad and if this was the progress for each program then I'd be delighted

    Next program = Neural Drive

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,757 ✭✭✭redzerdrog

I'd love to try this but the apple only app is a killer because I am not forking out for an apple device on top of the price of the stack
