Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I had to come up to Ballyboden this morning, and it’s still snowing though getting a bit thinner. Serious disruption to buses, several going past out of service. One driver stopped and said “your bus is coming, I couldn’t get up the hill!” Still waiting, though.

    6cm still pelting

I was wrong, the first photo is actually a different section of outbuildings. The section of roof that collapsed was fully slated so that's thousands of euro of slates smashed!

Can see the snow fall off the branches in the garden. I really hate it when it’s snow to rain, would much rather snow to sun.

Next weekend we could see snow again 👀

Light snow in west Galway. Lovely to see.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,858 ✭✭✭✭average_runner

Very heavy in Lucan here, close to 2-3 inches

Pelting here in Blessington with fresh accumulations

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,015 ✭✭✭John.Icy

And we've gone to rain here in D9, odd flake still about.

Brilliant little event. Best since 2018 in my part of Dublin. Maybe 5cm or so put down.

Gonna get absolutely awful out there as this melts quickly in the rain I imagine.

Could be an issue for some places for sure. Precipitation continuing all day.

In D1 the falling snow is losing its composition now but still accumulating to an extent.

Slush taking over the walked on tracks.

To be fair it’s almost impossible to predict snow in Ireland, as I said earlier I had sticking snow at 1.8c, temp drops almost a full degree to 0.9c and it rains!

    Very light throughout

Rain in D13. Drove up the road and by the time I got to Raheny it was snow and slush galore. Was heading towards DCU and the roads were just crazy, path and verges all white, people sliding around the place, and snow falling heavy. Decided to bail and turned up Malahide Road; the Tonlegee Road didn't have a spec of white anywhere. Mad how localised it was.

Arbour Hill Cemetery and Memorial Gardens.

Eerily quiet, reminiscent of something from a Dickens novel.

One of Dublin’s best kept secrets.

Absolutely. I hadn't even looked on this forum once before now as met Eireann yesterday said "perhaps some snow on mountains". Lovely surprise waking up to it! Very pre Internet feel to it where you weren't bombarded with false hopes and nowt to show as usually the case here!

thaw slowed down as rain as stopped, still sticking on branches, 0.9c

  • Registered Users Posts: 205 ✭✭CirrusBusiness

Rain turning to sleet/wet snow north co. Carlow. Temp has dropped in the last 30 minutes. Come on snow!

Still snowing heavy enough near Roundwood. Late to the party this time - down for the day or is it due to turn to rain on the east coast?

Is this going to stop in wicklow town anytime soon? So many hills. Don't know whether to take kids out of school early. Proper big flakes here now. Hasn't stopped in hours.

People complaining that met eireann didn't forecast this.

FFS, not even the effin rag Daily Muck forecasted this and they've been forecasting snow almost every week since Oct.

Quite enjoying that the sensationalist media had no inkling of today's snow.

ME in fairness did say there would be wintery showers.

Lovely big dump in Dun Laoghaire this morning. Just started turning to rain though. Ah well. Just wish I'd kept the kids home from school to enjoy it.

Turned back to rain, fun while it lasted, got lots of pics to sustain me over the next 5 years or so of snow drought here!

This is certainly true for urban Dublin at sea level, but not so much for the remainder of Leinster given the charts over the past 4-5 days.

Plenty of snow here in Dublin City Centre, not gonna be fun getting the train home

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,492 ✭✭✭✭AndrewJRenko

Still a steady snowfall here in south Dublin. When I look out at my driveway, there's no sign that a car reversed out of the driveway less than three hours ago. No sign of my footsteps in cleaning off the car - just smooth snow.

Turning to sleet here in D8. I don’t think you need to worry unless you’re getting the train in the next hour or so?

Slushy mess in Greystones town but hills behind pure white. Might be it for snow (here in the town) as temp on the rise quite rapidly. Was 0.9c now up to 2.2c quite quickly.

True, we were calling this on the 27th IIRC in the up to T120 thread. That said i wasn't expecting anything laying by the coast here like this morning. Extremely marginal but the potential was there for the last few days.
