Good question, as a lot of older farmers are used of ordering a bit of 18.6.12, and 24,2.5.10 for silage, if they don't have soil tests does that mean they don't have a p allowance this year. Or is that only for derogation?

If they do order PS in their fertilizer will they get a fine or what

I would have thought that a fair dose of stuff this time of year and very little growth yet. Think they recommend 1/2 bag an acre this time of year.

Got a quote of 500e for 18.6.12 today..think it's steep?

I was quoted 505e Monday for it. It was 485e with +S

TerraCAN. A different way than spraying seaweed to get micronutrients on.

This is from your Phosphorus allowance for the year and now related to stocking rate.

I was at an informal meeting recently of some high up in farming representatives. I mentioned how everything is going online in farming in Ireland and how some of the traditional base of farming were not entirely comfortable with everything online. A response was it's a decision by officialdom to create more farm advisor jobs. The trouble with these comfortable farm advisor office jobs is they rely on income coming from the the farmer. With more rules. It makes a farmer look for an advisor. But it also makes a farmer consider giving up farming altogether. Me thinks, some are getting too smart for themselves and are cutting the plank they've made for themselves and thought they would be comfortable on.

Lowly stocked or highly stocked shouldn't matter really. The goal should be for all farmers to get their P and Ks up to at least index 3 and the pH right too. If there's lots of animals on farm, that has to be taken into account of course for what you can bring in. But limiting lowly stocked farms to one bag even if the indices are 1 is total horseshit. Meanwhile, at the soil conference this week they were worrying about the fall in N sales leading to less P&K being spread and this leading to poorer soil fertility. Which road do they want to go down - get the fertility and indices right or restrict what yer allowed spread regardless of the data?

The cynically minded might think there's a plan there to cut down on the amount of silage sold from lower stocked farmers.

Will the same reductions apply to feed barley growers lowly stocked or zero stocked? Especially since the ground prepared would leach N ten times as much.

Same Q's would be asked of grassland destined for AD plants with low or zero stock on farm.

The plots have been truly lost by those after livestock and pro tillage in Ireland.
