Is the only way to get a ID4 2024 specs to order new at the moment?

In most VW garages I only see ID4 2023 specs sold as 2024 regs 🤔

(They can be spotted easily as they do not have the new gear gear selector stalk like below)

I heard that deliveries of the 2024 model are starting in April here, so there won't be any of the new model in the country yet

Could be even later given there's a production bottleneck on the new motor

Folks I have a silly question but it's not in the manual. What coolant type does the ID4 need?

    Question answered: G12 / G13

I have one on the way. It was in production / built in the factory about 2-3 weeks ago. So I’d say it’ll be here soon and probably amongst the first batch of the new model in the country. I’ll update this thread when I hear more on its whereabouts.

There are none of the new model in the country yet. Or indeed anywhere in Europe at all afaik. And it’s perfectly legitimate for a dealer to advertise the current/older model as a 2024 car. If it’s unregistered, it’s still technically a new car, even if it did come out of the factory X weeks/months ago.

I've also noticed now that the puddle lights on both sides are broken. They are both projecting images that look like they are through shattered glass instead of the diamond pattern.

Another thing that needs fixing under warranty...

Yeah I've got that issue too, it's water ingress into the light apparently. VW should cover that one under warranty

Its a common one across the range. I have my MK8 GTI going in this week to have both puddle lights replaced.

I’ve the car booked in for a service and they are doing the puddle lights under warranty, they had be booked in a week earlier but said the guy who can do the lights isn’t available that day. I wouldn’t imagine it was a specialised job

My ID4 has 40k kms and bought it new in July 2022. Absolutely zero issues but should it have been back at VW for a checkup or service by now? Will VW contact me when they want to see it?

My ID.4 1st is at the dealers at the moment.

Has anyone here had an issue with brake seals requiring replacement under warranty?

Service interval is every two years, unlimited mileage

Under the vehicle menu there's a Service option which tells you when the next inspection is due

The market is all over the place still, the odd unit popping up at a relatively reasonable price and a couple on the same day at a crazy price by dealers. A few ‘final price’ not further drop ads around too, which then drop again a month later after zero interest

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,599 ✭✭✭obi604

yeah, its all over the shop. whats a reasonable price for 2021 77kwh battery?

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,296 ✭✭✭Clo-Clo

Is a new model/refresh of the ID.4 out this year or next>?

  • Registered Users Posts: 159 ✭✭id.4 fan

What kind of mileage is up on yours.

Mine is back with the dealer because of very aggressive breaking when coming to a stop.

Interesting to hear about break seals issue tho!!!

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,387 ✭✭✭MrMusician18

    At the moment I'd say a 211 1st 77kwh fair price is around €27k.

The market is non functional though as you have people looking for smaller battery ID3s for similar money. We might have another year of this before price hierarchy is restored.

i don’t think the id4 forum of mostly id4 owners who understandably have a vested interest in the price being higher is the place to ask for reasonable price knowledge. Best bet it to ring around a few garages and see what they currently offer as trade in against a new one for a 2021 model. Then add 10% to 15%. They’ll say they don’t want it, or offer 20k or under, that gives you your benchmark. Which is about right off the current new prices. It’s not that hard to work out anyway at minimum deprecation of 15% a year or 20 year one, depending on how you look it

    2024 - 42k

    2023 - 36k

    2022 - 30k

    2021 - 24k

then you have the option of waiting for enough people having to sell for the price to reach that benchmark or consider the much better value in a 2024 brand new model for 42k or so. The ‘new’ depreciation won’t matter relative to the same depreciation if you spend anything like current garage prices on a 2021 old model with less power and efficiency. There is a case for knocking at least another 10% off for ‘old models’ but unlikely the Irish market will get there until about 6 months after new model is on the road.

I see, HUD. Area View Camera and Travel Assist are only available as an option on the GTX going forward

We’ve been in the market for a second hand id4 and I can say for absolute certainty that the only cars selling are the cheapest ones on the market.

we have ads saved for months in some cases and a cursory phone call to see if there’s any movement on the price is usually met with a 2021-esque conversation about how it’s an EV and the price is the price. One garage took our details in Jan and called back in Feb with a tiny price movement (€500 on a €38k car).

The market had a long way to go to reset itself. Buying anything that’s not priced to sell is just catching a falling knife in this current market

  • Subscribers Posts: 16,586 ✭✭✭✭copacetic

That’s it exactly. Garages not selling cars for 6 months and leaving them at same price hoping for a sucker, anything to not show the loss. Private sales listed by people that need to sell drop like a stone to roughly the prices above.

26k the cheapest I can see for sale today for a 3 year old. Take specs and models etc out of the equation and you're talking very close to 2/3 the price of a brand new one.

There's a handful of them there but quickly you're pushing up towards 30k if you don't like the exterior colour, mileage, wrong part of the country etc of the cheapest few which is getting close to 3/4 new price out of manufacturers warranty.

Probably slightly too high for what used buyers will deal at but still more realistic than what I see out there from the other big players, Tesla, Kia, Hyundai

Fascinating stand off going on in the market as a whole, too much uncertainty for a healthy functioning market to exist.

    60,000 km and 3yrs old.

Will let you know what happens with the brakes.

Is that for a 52kWh? I do reckon battery size will be a factor in the resale price, the 77kWh is arguably more versatile

But yeah, there seems to be a lot of dreamers out there with the asking prices

The typical selling point for buying a used ICE car from a dealership was they'd service the car and (supposedly) fix any issues

Not sure that same selling point exists with EVs, the battery is under warranty and the rest of the car doesn't need more than a visual inspection

I reckon a lot of the dealerships are hanging onto that idea, and they probably also got burned somewhat on the PCP offers. They probably had to give customers a good trade in value to get them into a new car but then they're stuck with a second hand car they can't make their money back on

In any case, I'll be keeping my car for a while. The newer ID.4 looks like a good improvement but I just can't justify the expense to switch

Can get a 77 now for 42k if I am not mistaken? So I am basing my figures on that

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,356 ✭✭✭✭the_amazing_raisin

I meant the used one, I think there's still value in keeping the battery size the same because bigger battery seems to hold its value better

If the used one is a 52kWh then I think the cheapest new 52kWh is just under €40k

So almost exactly 35% depreciation in 3 years, which seems pretty average for any car

The cheapest one, apart from the taxis, is a 77, 106k kms in 3 years which is pretty high to be fair. Then a few 52s, then you are pushing up towards 30k pretty quickly

Not abnormal I suppose. If people werent on PCP there wouldnt be an issue at all, just keep them until market finds its feet

VW will cover the rear quarter light seals, the rear tail light fixings and puddle lights they confirmed for me.

Interestingly there is a revised fix kit available for the original fix to the rear tail light. I guess the original fix wasn't good enough.

Purchased a 211 1st 77 kWh in December. The 'sticker' range was around 535km from memory.

I know you usually don't get anywhere near that range, and things like heating, speed etc impact it but I've been to Dublin a few times lately from Cork and I've had to stop in Junction 14 everytime. I don't think I even get 300km. Is that normal?

I have it booked in for a diagnostic test at the end of April because I'm really disappointed in that.
