While a lot of people don't really care or like City winning, they are quite happy that Liverpool are the biggest victims of City's success. These people will look back in 5 or 10 years time and say Liverpool only won one ( hopefully 2🤞) titles under Klopp, they are no better than Leicester or Blackburn, that'll be the narrative and will become the general consensus. Liverpool fans will know the truth as will most genuine football fans, but, outside of Liverpool fans most won't admit it, only too happy to belittle Liverpool's achievements under Klopp.

Athletic reporting that the Edwards/Hughes combo are close to joining Liverpool. Hughes as sporting director. Edwards above him.

  • Registered Users Posts: 391 ✭✭bdmc16

Whatever about hysteria you are referring to, there’s a lot to flip side too of diminishing the critical importance of the game as well.

Konate is a critical piece needed to get a win on Saturday . There’s genuine argument that Gomez could be better deployed on wingback positions than now forced to partner VVD. Robbo form is a concern and Bradley/Quansh is not partnership id want for the seasons most important game. I reckon it will Bradley/Gomez/VVd/Robbo and hope foden doesn’t have a field day on the wings given the really poor defensive display last night.

A loss would be much more than deflating and just my opinion we have to win if we going to win the league. A loss puts drops us to 3rd with arsenal with having the bonus point of GD , sounds crazy but drawing in the past with city in this fixture how cost us the league.

That would be a huge shot in the arm for the club.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,900 ✭✭✭✭klose

Edwards seemed to have a faultless time at the club when he was here, a return would be a massive boost in a more senior role. Exciting times if it gets done.

That's fantastic news and reassuring to know that FSG know a world class structure is needed again to give the next manager every chance of succeeding. While you had Klopp you didn't need that as much.

  • Registered Users Posts: 391 ✭✭bdmc16

Opposite fans know the truth as well though when they make those statements . we’ve done it the right way winning everything and it’s be envy of the league especially given the way United/Cheslea/arsenal fell away for far for years from the Fergie/wenger/Jose years .

they know we bought a player for 8m from inter , make him the sought after player in Europe selling for 140m to fund VVD/Allsion but they still say we paid world record fees as spend as much as city as it’s doesn’t suit their narrative. The whole Nunez costs more than Haaland is another example.

Regardless how well we finish this season, rival fans will be delighted Klopp is leaving cause but the success he’s delivered to us fans has been a bitter pill for so many fans . We can only hope there’s more silverware to come this season

Lads might seem like a stupid question but how do I register for tickets for the final in Dublin please

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,808 ✭✭✭mightyreds

From UEFA they will open registration around the semi final stage, mid April maybe so just have to keep an eye on the site

With Klopp leaving Edwards coming back is the best possible news we could hope for as he is proven at the club. Brilliant news, I'm buzzing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,073 ✭✭✭SuperTortoise

Edwards coming back would be a big coup, huge boost if true.

On rival fans hating, knowing our manager is the soundest guy in football must make it even harder.

Most managers are tits, but even rival fans have to dig deep and perform mental gymnastics to hate him.

Did'nt think Robbo was bad in the last couple of games, only got to see about 25 mins last night granted, but when he plays, the attacking outlet and threat down the left wing is super, his drive, energy, aggression is a joy to watch.

Michael Edwards is close to agreeing a senior role with Fenway Sports Group, which would include the former Liverpool executive taking oversight of the club’s football operations.

Liverpool are in the midst of a huge transition following manager Jurgen Klopp’s decision to step aside this summer, with his closest staff also scheduled to leave and sporting director Jorg Schmadtke already having departed.

If Edwards accepts FSG’s offer, the sporting director position is expected to be filled by Richard Hughes, whose exit as Bournemouth technical director was confirmed on Wednesday.

FSG targeted Edwards to spearhead the restructure — floating the idea of him occupying a top job at Liverpool or inside the ownership group — but he initially turned down the opportunity.

However, the US group continued its pursuit and Edwards is now on course to join in a far broader capacity that encompasses Liverpool, rather than specifically returning to Anfield.

While a deal is not yet done, discussions are progressing and it is anticipated a definitive resolution will be reached early next week.

Weather seems to indicated heavy rain for the match on Sunday

Yrent is right in what he is saying but for christ sake lad keep your trap shut, especially when your not even playing yourself your only poking the beast

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,749 ✭✭✭giveitholly

He was dead right.that is the problem, nobody in football, whether that is opposition players, managers or media in general will talk about the elephant in the room. I wish more players would speak up because there must be resentment amongst players that City can cheat their way to titles and it's barely even mentioned

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,955 ✭✭✭dogbert27

What's funny is the reaction of the City players to what Trent said.

    The truth clearly hurts.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,823 ✭✭✭Ottoman_1000

Exactly what I was thinking. Why get up the backs of Haaland and the likes the week of the biggest game of the season, especially when you're not even fit enough to tog out!

Deep down, I actually think Klopp is really pissed about that interview.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,188 ✭✭✭mosstin

Idiotic. No question about it. He can believe it - we all believe it - but now, to add fuel to the fire? Problem is, given the fact that he's not playing, if we do lose - his comments won't be the reason of course - but he'll be a lightning rod for some of the frustration. Totally unnecessary.

I'm looking at it as more of a rallying cry to his teammates and the fans.

That's something that can make an impact.

Couldn't care less if it hurt City's feelings.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,457 ✭✭✭jamesd

Won 2 tickets for Thursdays match , both in the brodies hospitality lounge, sounds nice.

Bringing over my 9yr old so both our first time to Anfield, have flights and have booked the travel loudge for 2 nights so well sorted.

Does the lounge open early for us to go and get the atmosphere?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,806 ✭✭✭Enzokk

Don't poke the defending champions that is on course to win the treble again with the best manager ever and the best striker that ever was...please don't poke them or they may play well against us?

The reality is City could score 7 tomorrow against us, they are that good. Whether Trent said anything or not, they will be up for it as they do not like us as we are the only team to beat them since they started winning the title and the only team, until last year, to challenge them to just walking to the title. They are out to try and break all records as well, they did not need a quote from Trent to be up for the match.

I agree with the notion that it needs to be said more though, its the silence from almost everyone that allows them to pretend like nothing has happened. Let us not forget they were found guilty and punished by UEFA already and that was before they got away with the last batch of charges and even then they were accused of not cooperating with UEFA. Everyone knows they are guilty, its just about whether there is the political will to find them as such and whether the Premier League will have the guts to punish them substantially as well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,546 ✭✭✭✭Electric Nitwit

Be fair Enzokk, they were found not guilty on appeal. And that was because they were innocent, not at all because their team of the ten best lawyers they could find were up against UEFA's intern and found a technicality, definitely not that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 287 ✭✭realrebel

Was in the broadies lounge only 2 weeks ago it was fab I think it opens about 2 or 3 hours before kick off

We didn't get in there till about a hour before kick off as kids wanted to see the team bus arrive, the lounge is very busy they also have a band singing liverpool songs and u will get to meet a ex liverpool player, we met stevie staunton on the night

You will get free food there like burgers etc and a pint free too

It's brilliant the kid and yourself will love every minute of it the atmosphere is unreal

Just be careful not to have your phone on low battery as u can't transfer the ticket to another phone

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,420 ✭✭✭✭TitianGerm

They weren't found not guilty though, the appeals court said that the evidence was time barred and couldn't be used.

The Trent interview would likely have been done weeks ago, fourfourtwo is a monthly magazine

We will meet and defeat these Cheating Champions

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,457 ✭✭✭jamesd

Thank you, looking forward to it now and looks a nice place for a kids first game too. Is the seating area outside good, says padded seats ?

  • Registered Users Posts: 155 ✭✭Steviemak7

They only got off as Uefa took the case too late and the opportunity to prosecute had timed out. They were 100% guilty and proven as such.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,306 ✭✭✭McBain11

Did Man City not get fined 10 million or something along those lines by UEFA? So, they were found guilty iirc of certain charges and got off on other more serious charges based on farcical time barred rules from UEFAs own laws and constitution. Otherwise their outright ban from competing in the CL (was it for 2 seasons originally) would have stood.

Ya they are all fab seats no matter where u sit ,seats are very comfortable and spacious

We were in block AM2 which is straight out of one of the tunnels

The away fans were in the lower part of the stand and we were above them

Arrive early so you can show him around outside the ground and club shop

I say organise a taxi for coming back as its chaos afterwards especially if raining

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,663 ✭✭✭theoneeyedman

A fine is not a punishment, it's just a charge or a cost, or indeed an legal bribe.

For these current 115 charges, wait for a negotiated settlement, and a whopping 'fine' which just adds a little extra cost to the City Sportswashing project, but a cost the UAE government can cover with a cent or two extra on the price of oil.

The punishment for overspending will be to make them spend a little more, but this time to line the right pockets. We all know that's going to be the end game here, maybe after an appeal, but that's how it ends.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,535 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

Arsenal on a roll, 8 in a row, go top. In saying that if they can go away to Man City, Brighton, Wolves, Spurs, Man U, in their remaining away games and still win the league, then even I'll applaud them.

Liverpool have all their rough away games played, our run in on paper is kindest, we just need to beat the cheats tomorrow.

  • Registered Users Posts: 477 ✭✭boosabum

Klopp hasn't a great winning record at goodison or old Trafford. Still ends up playing the occasion as opposed to the opposition at times.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,595 ✭✭✭kingshankly

Our aways are tougher I’d say Utd villa and Everton

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,535 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

Everton only won 3 at home all season, conceding 18, Man U lost 5, conceding 20 at home, Villa is toughest, but winning tomorrow gives us room to falter

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,457 ✭✭✭jamesd

@realrebel For having a taxi ordered, how do you do this ?

Salah has 5 years left at the very top, he's a Ronaldo 2.0 . Needs a new two year deal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 287 ✭✭realrebel

Look up taxi one bus service on twitter and you can organise one with him I think it's 2 pound per person

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,823 ✭✭✭Ottoman_1000

Any word on Konate, is he definitely out?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,546 ✭✭✭✭Electric Nitwit

Not sure who's reliable or not on twitter, but the noise seems to be that he's out, Quansah starts.

I think Gomez starting at LB is a good choice. He's in better form than Robbo and can concentrate on their danger man Foden rather than having to attack and defend like Robbo would be.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,749 ✭✭✭giveitholly

Definitely but that leaves a very young and inexperienced right hand side of our defence with Quansah and Bradley starting

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,097 ✭✭✭hawaii501

Both Quansah and Bradley have been excellent so no problem with either starting really.

Agree that Gomez should start as Robertson still not 100% and Gomez is better to deal with Foden today as stated above.

Anfield will be rocking and hopefully it gets to the City players.
