Week 0 game between Georgia Tech and Florida State will be August 24th in Dublin.

    Can't wait.

A proper conference matchup like we had in 2022 with Northwestern v Nebraska.

None of this ND v Navy rubbish which is more a like a challenge match in the GAA than a college football game.

It was listed on ticketmaster earlier today as starting on Thursday but they have removed the text.

I would expect emails to be sent to purchasers of previous years tickets.

Oh okay it looks to me as it is sold out when I look at it on ticketmaster.

    Afternoon everyone.

I’ve purchased tickets in previous years but never get the presale emails (and had signed up on the AL College Classic site previously). Have stumbled across this thread having spotted the Thu 0900 presale message on the Ticketmaster site - hopefully this is something that doesn’t require a code. But if anyone is aware of one, I’d gratefully receive one in my inbox ;) Fingers crossed something positive anyhow.

    Johnny.

The coded presale is for American Football Ireland clubs/players/coaches/refs etc. No email gone out to previous purchasers yet.

Tickets will go on general sale on March 14 as per email sent by them today.

Game announced for 2027 Pitt Panthers v Wisconsin Badgers.

Does this mean no game in 2025 or 2026?

    I'd be very surprised.

I know The Steelers were in town a few months back talking about it, but there are plenty of more places that the NFL could be picking for an international game with bigger markets.

Amsterdam, Paris, Madrid, Barcelona, Milan, Rome spring to mind straight away, and that's just Europe.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 670 ✭✭✭csirl

I dont think NFL games have any impact on the scheduling of the college games. Different stadium, different market (college = US visitors, NFL = domestic/european), different time (Aug/Nov), different organisers etc etc.

There's also no.coordination between the two organisers - they're actually rivals.

NFL will schedule their games when it best suits them - even if there is a college game the same year. 25 is a little optimistiic, I think it will be 26 or 27.

On the upside, you may get to see both NFL and college played in the same years!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,789 ✭✭✭theoneeyedman

While they are not going to work together, the truth of it is we're a small market, will we really sell Croke Park plus Lansdowne for 2 games? Maybe, but it'll be a gamble.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 670 ✭✭✭csirl

The domestic market isnt important for the college games - the financial model is based on bringing in 20-30k visiting US fans. They work financially even with no Irish fans.

NFL will be 100% domestic/European focused. Their aim is to expand the European fanbase, so US fans will be discouraged.

Both are viable as there isnt much overlap.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 670 ✭✭✭csirl

I think the gap in the college games is more to do with management/rights ownership changes - re-evaluating the organisation, tweeking the behind the scences financial model etc.

Presale email went out this evening. Past purchasers get access to tickets on 12/03 @ 12:00. General release 14/03.

Any word on prices, compared to last year for instance?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,734 ✭✭✭✭Fr Tod Umptious

I wonder would they be cheaper because it's not ND.

Two years ago the Northwestern v Nebraska tickets were very reasonable I thought, something like €60 I think I paid for upper tier, which seems a lot cheaper than the ND tickets in 2023

I had 513, Upper Tier behind the endzone, for ND Navy at €80 a pop last year. In the Irish league presale for this year I got section 515 and they were still €80 a go. Can't think what the other sections on offer were, but Upper Endzone are the same price.

I see the pre-sale open later today. Anyone got links? Anyone see any info on the pricing on it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,734 ✭✭✭✭Fr Tod Umptious

    Got mine just now.

They are as low as 50 for back row of upper levels.

I got near front of upper levels for 80.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,522 ✭✭✭✭paulie21

Got 2 of the €60 ones. Just need to keep searching because they try push the €80 ones on you

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 405 ✭✭Innish_Rebel

I ended up taking some €80 tickets as well.

Funnily I did my first search with best available checked by accident!!! holy shi*t I would not be spending €250-325 per ticket...

Went a little higher price at €100 and got block 114 row D - Nice and close to pitch side for the action

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,073 ✭✭✭✭cena

How good are the views for the 80 upper tickets?

Just picked up a 60 euro ticket

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 172 ✭✭Risoc

    €50 restricted views on sale.

Assuming those blocks won't come near selling out, you can just move down to a better view within the block on the day, presumably.

Kansas State v Iowa State next year

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,734 ✭✭✭✭Fr Tod Umptious

Not exactly a headline grabber for people who don't know much about America Football but it's a Big 12 conference game and will be their 105th meeting, so depending on the numbers they bring it should have a good buzz.

    I'm going.

So they announced 2026 or 2027 before 2025. Strange.

There were rumours of a Steelers preseason game in Dublin in 25, maybe they don't want two American Football games

Kick off time confirmed for 5pm local (12 noon ET).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 670 ✭✭✭csirl

If the Steelers play it will be a regular season game. NFL is doing a week 1 International Series game in Brazil this year. So week 1 cant be ruled out for a future Dublin game.

There isnt a lot of crossover between the college and NFL games. College games are focused on American visitors whereas NFL is focused on domestic/european fans. So two together could work. But the NFL games would take the spotlight away from the Aviva games.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,469 ✭✭✭Shedite27

Don't know about there being not much crossover, I'd say everyone on this thread and everyone I went to a college game with previously would also go to an NFL game.

If both were on the same year, most would go to the NFL game

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 670 ✭✭✭csirl

Its true that there's crossover in the local market. The few thousand Irish people who attend the Aviva game willl be among those who'd attend the NFL game. But the 30-40k US CF fans on packages wont be attending the NFL game, nor will the NFL.want them to. NFL wants local fans.l

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,734 ✭✭✭✭Fr Tod Umptious

    NFL wants local fans.l

And that's why I think a regular season game in Dublin is pie in the sky.

The NFL only recently expanded to international games in Germany

Brazil and Spain are on the cards for 2024 and 2025 respectively.

There is still France, Italy, Netherlands to go to.

All have much bigger markets to tap into than little old Ireland.

    cheapest seats showing as 195!!!

    Surely that’s wrong?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,734 ✭✭✭✭Fr Tod Umptious

For a few months now all that seems to be available is €700+ hospitality tickets on Ticketmaster.

I'm very surprised that this is sold out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 172 ✭✭Risoc

Hmm, it’s pretty hard to believe alright. Probably some ticketing strategy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,571 ✭✭✭✭Frisbee

Yeah no way it's sold out. Each of the past three times it's been on I've been turning down free tickets in the week leading up to it as I either already had tickets or couldn't go anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 405 ✭✭Innish_Rebel

Actually looks like ticket sales are pretty good - currently on ticketmaster seat availability suggests only a few < 100 tickets still available - I could be missing something…

If you zoom in to the sections in Blue on ticketmaster it is only a few seats in each section.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,789 ✭✭✭theoneeyedman

Just checked it earlier in the week, and those behind the goal tickets weren't visible to me anyway. Are there tickets coming back online to TM I wonder?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,734 ✭✭✭✭Fr Tod Umptious

I just checked now and there are more tickets than a few months ago available.

For a long time it was just €700+ hospitality tickets available, now there are €80 tickets in the upper corners and €100 tickets behind the goals available.

Not many mind you, just spatterings here and there.

Which makes more sense than it being sold out months ago.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,789 ✭✭✭theoneeyedman

See that now, they weren't there early in the week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 405 ✭✭Innish_Rebel

It is strange - see my screen grab - the cheapest ticket was €225; an hour later - you're seeing €80…

Either way it looks like it is a 99% full house so should be great.

Maybe I'm just lucky, but I won tickets to this through work. I've actually won tickets to several of these college football games, and haven't actually paid to go to one since Notre Dame Navy around 10 years ago. Always seems to be lots of competitions giving them away.
