Starting a 6 week challenge with the OH today. Calorie counting and no takeaways for 6 weeks be interesting how it goes, first WI done and dusted, hopefully next Monday will show a good result.

Week 9(?) weigh in: 1.5 lb loss, total loss of 12lb

Only 0.5lb off this target and hitting the round stone number . buzzing about it today.

Heading off abroad on a hens for all of next weekend so won't be weighing in at group because I'll be on a plane. I think I'll hit the goal by next Thursday though.💪🏻

Great work, you can be very proud of yourself. 12lbs is a fantastic achievement.

    Well done!

Anyone doing this chair yoga stuff?

am struggling loosing weight on my chest ..

    any tips?

I don't do chair yoga but I do weekly gentle yoga classes and I use the down dog app a few times during the week. I usually do vinyasa (which is what you think of when you imagine yoga) but they have loads of options on it including gentle, strength flow and chair yoga.

I know Yoga with Adrienne (who is supposed to be great) has chair yoga videos on her youtube page.

Starting week 3 of my 6 week challenge.

    Week 1 = -2lbs

    Week 2 = -2.5lbs

Just calorie counting and no takeaways for 6 weeks and it's working. I haven't gotten time to get out for any walks other than the usual walks with kids and dogs, so I was worried the loss would be affected.

What's really interesting is my resting heart rate went from 69 to 60 after week 1, I always thought it was the exercise that brought that down, I never realised the impact diet had on resting heart rate.

Week 12 weigh in: +1lb total loss 11lb.

After two weeks of drinking, takeaways, chocolate and eating whatever and whenever I want I managed to get off incredibly lightly. I know it might come back to bite me next week as a delayed increase but such is life.

I'm a bridesmaid in 4 weeks and bringing the dress in to be taken in next week so I'm focused on staying mainly on plan till the big weekend.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,451 ✭✭✭Aisling(",)

    Week 13 weigh in:+ 0.5lb total loss 10.5lb

I was all over the place this last week. Having good food in the house doesn't help when there's impromptu plan changes. Not surprised at the gain and I'm not upset because I enjoyed myself. I've a quieter week ahead so we'll see how it goes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,859 ✭✭✭Jude13

10.5lbs is not to be sniffed at well done.

Week 14 weigh in:- 3.5lb total loss 14lb

I've lost a stone 🥳 I was aiming for 1.5 this week so I've smashed it. My first goal was 12.5lb so I've reassessed and I've set it to the next half stone which is 5lb to go.

I feel great. I've a wedding I'm going to in 2 weeks but if I can stay as I am till then I'm more than delighted. After that I'll get working again.

I am starting on the road again. Day 1.

I am dealing with a hip/knee issue so sadly its food/diet based mainly. Pray for mojo

  • Moderators, Business & Finance Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 25,163 Mod ✭✭✭✭Loughc

So after 6 weeks I lost 9lbs. I’ll take it.

All diet driven. No time for exercise between work and the kids but hopefully that will even out soon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,859 ✭✭✭Jude13

Great stuff! It gives me hope as I will be following a similar model.

Injury and time restrict walks and runs. I will get to the gym sporadically so not much in that. Its all down to will power and diet. I have one query though, no takeaways? We usually have takeaway Friday nights. I dont think I can go without it.

When I lost 18kg almost three years ago (crying inside) I still had my takeaway, two lettuce wrapped burgers but I had them accounted for in my tracker. I am not sure I am willing to be that disciplined this time.

  • Moderators, Business & Finance Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 25,163 Mod ✭✭✭✭Loughc

I had a takeaway 3 times in the 6 week. We alternated between a takeaway and a fakeaway on a Saturday night

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,499 ✭✭✭CheerLouth

What fakeaways were you doing? I need some recipe inspo!

Today is my last day with my existing gym & I'm so sad, I don't want to leave but they've put the price up to €200 a month & as much as I love it, I can't justify giving them that amount of money. Need to sign up to a new place over the weekend as I'm in the habit of going now and I don't want to lose it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,947 ✭✭✭Cork Lass

Wow, that’s very expensive. Didn’t realise gyms had become that dear.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,499 ✭✭✭CheerLouth

It's one of those places that do personal training in small groups so you always have the instructor close by telling you what to do & making sure that you don't bust yourself. But yes, definitely gone too dear - think they are aiming it at 20-somethings who do nothing but work out.

Ive been to those gyms and would love to feel comfortable in one but dont. I have undertaken 1 to 1 in a gym and found it amazing (OH bought it as a present, not financially viable normally).

I had a weekend of pints and food. Weigh tomorrow will not be fun.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,859 ✭✭✭Jude13

So I am up +0.6kg from my weigh in last Tuesday but it included a binge the the before so effected the weigh in.

Doing a 48 hour fast since Monday 6pm so was low today.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,451 ✭✭✭Aisling(",)

Week 15 weigh in: +0.5lb total loss 13.5lb

The fact I only put on half a pound is a win. Ate about half a dozen Krispy Kreme donuts, bunsen, thunder road etc. now not all on the one day but still.

I'm at a 3 day wedding this weekend so I'm hoping for a maintain week but if it's a gain I'll have well enjoyed it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,451 ✭✭✭Aisling(",)

I'm stopping numbering my weekly weighins because I'm hoping that this is a long journey and not just a few week thing.

Weigh in: +0.5 lb Total loss 13lb

I ate drank and was merry so it's not unexpected. Hoping to see a change on the scales next week even if its just half a pound so I get the kick I need.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,947 ✭✭✭Cork Lass

I’m totally disillusioned after a visit to my gp yesterday. He weighed me and said I need to lose between 2 and 3 stone which is devastating. I lost a pile of weight a few years ago but a fair bit has crept back on so now I have to start all over again. How is it that weight is so hard to lose and yet so easy to gain? I started logging my food on My Fitness Pal again today and I’m dying for some chocolate but will resist 🥲.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,594 ✭✭✭tscul32

I lost 3 st last year but have already found one of them again. Busy times at the moment but summer break starts in a couple of weeks so can focus properly then, try to lose a bit before my hols.

Glad to see it going in the right direction again!

Weigh in: -1 lb Total loss 15.5lb

Thats 7kg down.I know that BMI isn't an accurate reading of a person's health but if I manage to shift 5 more pounds I'll be officially "normal".

Weigh in: +1.5 lb Total loss 14lb

Ooops. I know why this gain happened but I don't really have an excuse.I wasn't out and about I just went off plan and ate whatever took my fancy. Not even that mad about it but I'll get my act back together.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,947 ✭✭✭Cork Lass

Don’t beat yourself up about it @Aisling(",), sometimes you just need to go with your body. I’ve decided to only weigh myself every 4 weeks as I’m at a stage in life where weight loss slows down and I can’t walk very far at the moment as I’ve aggravated my knee and am having physio. I know my losses will be small but I have to think of the bigger picture.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,451 ✭✭✭Aisling(",)

Weigh in: maintain Total loss 14lb

Stomach was in rag order the last week so I had little to no motivation to cook or even prepare fruit/veg as snacks. Not surprised considering I was just grabbing convenience foods.

4 week weigh in today and down 3 lbs which isn’t great but as I’ve bot been able to walk at all I have to accept this will be slow 😢.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,451 ✭✭✭Aisling(",)

Weigh in: -2.5lb Total loss 16.5lb

    Happy mother fudging Thursday 😎😎

3 lb off my next target. I'm away the end of June/start of July so I'm not worrying about it then and hopefully I'll hit it by the end of July. I know my progress is slow but I'm trying to be realistic and sustainable

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,451 ✭✭✭Aisling(",)

Weigh in: Maintain Total loss 16.5lb

Had three meals out so not surprising. I'm away twice in the next two weeks so just aiming to only have a small gain. There deffo will be a gain but I'm hoping maybe only 4lb or something.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,947 ✭✭✭Cork Lass

Honestly, sometimes life is much more important than a number on the scales. Enjoy your time away.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,451 ✭✭✭Aisling(",)

Put on 6.5lbs. Honestly should care more than I do.

I'm guessing a pound or two would have been gone if I hadn't stuffed my face with a hotel breakfast on the day of the weigh in and drank enough water to hydrate an elephant.

Sure we'll see what next week brings.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,947 ✭✭✭Cork Lass

Down 2kg this month. It’s not a lot for a month but I’m happy enough. Had some steroid injections in my knee so should be able to walk a bit this month and will hopefully have a better result next weigh in.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,723 ✭✭✭✭DvB

weighd myself for the first time in ages this morning… up a full 4kg (well, 8.5lbs) since before my holidays in early June.

Time to cut down on the junk food, snacking & eating out methinks. I'm at my heaviest in 8 years now and at an age where shifting it is a longer, slower process too!

Down 3 lb of my big gain last week.

Total loss of 13.5. hopefully by next week I'll have lost the stone. The same stone I've already lost this year 🙈

She's gaining a stone, she's losing it twice, she's going to find out who's naughty or nice...

I’m the same over the course of a month,( with a week’s holiday thrown in, no holds barred cocktails, pizza and gelato) I’ve gained a full 9lb, that’s on top of other weight gain. So I’m literally right back at my starting point 😫

I’ve started again back to basics last Monday.

3litres of water a day (the hardest part!)

    10000 steps

    100g minimum protein

I’m after buying a supplement online after seeing it on the wonderfully scientific world of instagram 😂 But I did a bit of research and it seems to have lots of benefits including weight loss. It’s called Berberine, so I’m going to give it a go along with a sensible diet to see what happens 🤞

    Serious loss, fair play.

I had a 3 week holiday where I planned to doing loads of jogging, did a few shorter runs in the first few days, then went out for a 10k. 5k into that I felt a ping in my Achilles, I have had it re-attached twice but it hasn't given me any issue in 10+ years. I had to call the OH to collect me as I could barely walk. Physio says a minimum of 10 weeks rest.

So its all diet for me. I am in the gym three days a week since last week. Calorie counting via my fitness pal however I have three nights out this week for BD with boozers and its one to one so difficult to hide.

I am weighing myself everyday, if I dont go up this week I will see it as a win.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,859 ✭✭✭Jude13

    Week 1: -0.4kg/0.88lbs

Not being uber strict, lifting but not killing myself week one so far 4 out of 7 days which is more than enough. Some walks but my Achilles and calf scream if I push it. A few week nights out this week with work make it tough. Also back on creatine so my weight may actually increase due to water retention even in a deficit.

    Basic menu I work around:

Breakfast: black coffee, then post workout - two scoops of zero carb whey, creatine, 50gms of berries.

Lunch & Dinner: chicken breast (or fish), 70gm greens, little bit of olive oil.

    Add to that work pints

Getting back in action. Got weighed yesterday evening. I've been off work for two weeks and holiday mode kicked in with a gain of 5.5 lb. Honestly I'd say a pound of it was because I'd eaten my three meals of the day before hand.

I'm working towards a Christmas goal now and it feels doable. Going to up my exercise aswell.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,451 ✭✭✭Aisling(",)

Down 3 lb of my big gain last week.

Total loss of 10.5lb from the start of the year. I've not got much on that I can use as an excuse to go wild so in that way I'm glad the summer is over and routines are coming back.
