How do you not take the points there? The scrum has been minced, the maul stopped dead in its tracks and the tackling driving players back consistently.

Scotland must be wondering how they're scoreless.

Some things starting to come together for Ireland though once they keep the ball moving.

Still a bit off yet , but Georgia and Italy are going to mince this Irish pack in WC.

They’re really missing Andrew Sparrow in the front row tonight, getting hammered in there.

Ireland need to kick more. O'Connor and McLoughlin have found a lot of space in the back field at times and Scotland also look pretty dodgy ball in hand. A knock on never seems to far from occuring.

I'd be less worried about that than the fact there was no-one else running in support of Edogbo and the player he popped the pass to. As soon as the ball went to Edogbo it looked like they were going to be isolated and turned over. It was either the wrong distribution option, or the rest of the team need to wake up and keep up with the play. Shooting themselves in the foot.

People say this is a well coached Irish team, is it? I admittedly didnt get to see the France game live but Ive watched the other 4 and while the England game was good the other 3 (including the first half of this game) have been very disappointing in terms of cohesion...it's genuinely a miracle we are going for the 6N tonight based on how we've played over the course of this tournament.

101 Scotland tackles compared to 68 from Ireland. Not as many as I thought they'd made, but if Ireland keep a high level of possession in the second half I can't see Scotland holding on.

McLaughlin best of the Irish, Scottish no 7 is great , only 18

    Scotland bossed the Wales pack!

We are having a kick at goal....this is what it's come to...

    Score please?

Side to side, side to side, turn over and repeat... we are lucky Scotland don't have much to speak of in attack.

    10-0 to Ireland so far.

That was a terrible turnover. O’Connor took it up and nobody bothered to follow him. Easy turnover for the Scots.

Absolutely static receiving the ball. Can never understand that

    Try Ireland!

15-0 nil now 60 mins gone

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,643 ✭✭✭Shehal

Ireland over at last, hopefully that's the turning point. 20 minutes to score 2 tries which is doable if we switch on.

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,368 ✭✭✭✭dastardly00

That might give Ireland a bit of momentum and heads of the Scottish players might drop too

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,096 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Good try. Nice set piece strike move off the lineout to get into the 22 and some good, fast breakdowns and carrying to get over the line.

Looks like Scotland are beginning to tire. They aren't making the same gain line stopping tackles like they were earlier.

Really like the look of McLoughlin. Good runner, excellent kicking game and decent under the high ball.

Jack Murphy should never play rugby again.

    Thanks for update

McLoughlin was looking for that yellow and absolutely baited the Scottish player into it. Very clever.

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,368 ✭✭✭✭dastardly00

Brain fart by the Scottish player to get the yellow there

And let's not forget, throughout this tournament consistent knocking the ball on...probably not a good thing when you have no scrum.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,167 ✭✭✭munsterlegend

The Scots have defended very well. Even down a man they are making us look very ordinary in attack. Definitely not tiring anyway and showing great heart.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,514 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Another try for Ireland! Just under 10 mins left

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,643 ✭✭✭Shehal

If only they showed that in the other matches, they might have actually won a game...
