Hello there,

I'll keep it brief...ye guys are busy...I don't wanna take up too much of your time...

I want to register a domain name for a small record label......with a view to world wide exposure but a niche genre of house music...

Who should I go with?

And remember if your using a hosted platform service like square space you don’t need any hosting from the domain seller. You simply connect the domain to the platform.

As you want to take a domain on the niche, kindly go for exact match domain or partial match domain, by which the domain name indicates the niche of you're website and it will help the users to build the trust on you're domain.

It's better to get .com/.net/.org TLDs , which are top level domain TLDs world wide.

The weare.ie list above is a good start. At a minimum go for a .COM and a .IE registration. The .COM should be OK for a global market but if you are selling to an Irish market, a .IE is the main TLD in this market. The .COM would be OK on its own if you don't want to go for a .IE.

Make a list of your target market and, if the finance is there, safeguard your brand in those markets by registering it as a domain name in the local country code TLD (like .IE, .UK etc). The new gTLDs are not exactly a first choice TLD for a global market and many of them don't have the brand recognition of the .COM.

Registering your brand in .MUSIC (one of the new gTLDs) might also be useful.

I'm just trialing names and layouts on Squarespace free trial. It's pretty good and informative tbh. As I'm generally clueless, just learning as I go on.

Personally I would register a .com. The real question is how do you want your website to be found. If its worldwide and through the internet, then a .com would help you be found easier.

If you are looking for a solid Irish company, then Blacknight are quiet helpful and have a team which can provide answers to any questions you have before purchasing, it might be worthwhile giving them a call.
