A tire fall-off window of 80-90 laps or even 100 laps would have been great, rather than the 40-50 that most drivers could endure

Cota at 7.45 . something very different

Gotta love this no track limits. Cars so far wide beyond the kerbs. Remind me again, any caution for the stage breaks?

    Yes there are cautions

I see SVG is a little higher up the field as it's a road course. Should be interesting seeing him on the restarts and if he can capitalise.

Kyle Larson got a really bad break, the got spun and then had to wait for nearly everybody to go by him to get going again.

If I was the crew chief I'd have had him come in and change strategy to the off normal pit stops like Bell.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 5,795 Mod ✭✭✭✭Nowso

the cautions at the break have worked well here . we might get another one b4 the end

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 5,795 Mod ✭✭✭✭Nowso

Byron Bell and Gibbs . there going to be up there in most races this year

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,697 ✭✭✭Charlie-Bravo

Not really the most exciting race really. I prefer these cars on super speedways.

Decent race. A bit dull like the day itself. Byron is out-of-this-world good. Remember he had 20 top10's last year. Insane numbers that he'l likely replicate this year. Bell made it very interesting and his team's strategy almost paid off so I think they'll have learned a lot. Otherwise, some spins here, mid pack battles there, but Byron was always going to win. Hats off to Bubba Wallace. Going from dead last, hopelessly last, to turn his day around to get a top 15.

You need all different types of races, it makes it the Premier motor car championship in the world in my opinion. Unfortunately I don't think there's any dirt races this year but even without them, you got regularl oval races, Superspeedways, road courses and a street circuit.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,092 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

I can't believe this. Turned on the NASCAR and it was raining and I was depressed because you don't know if it'll go ahead or not. Then they interview Alex Bowman and he says he can't wait to go on the wet tyres as it should be really interesting on an oval.

Hopefully this is a thing they'll do on all tracks from now on and no waiting to see if a race will get going.

Anyway, Bowman had a serious car in qualifying and practice and he's my pick for tonight coming off a good performance last week.

Only in the door. So red flag to let everyone change onto slicks. Let's go racing....

Two men must be sick after that, Truex because there was a yellow with him about 100 yards from the white flag and losing first place on pit road and Logano losing the front row. I think if Logano had been on the front row he'd have won it.

a bit like a couple of races back and Hamlin wins again , Toyota look very strong

    martinsville at 8 .

Bubba has a good car. Then along comes Hamlin and goes to the front. Boring.

I'm sure Truex will make a move shortly. Oh wait Chase Elliott just passed Hamlin. I'm still hoping Bubba does it.

    gonna be a close one

Great strategy call from Byron's team won the day. Clean air was a huge factor.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 5,795 Mod ✭✭✭✭Nowso

He comes and wins when you least expect him to at times

  • Registered Users Posts: 30 CorribsideSteve

Really boring race. Bring the Bristol tyre to the next short track or else just remove short tracks, because they're broken when it comes to the Gen 7 car. Denny Hamlin said he COULDN'T catch and pass 3 laps down Austin Dillon. Logano dominating Stage 2 on two tyres. It was only interesting for me because I was rooting for Bubba who ran a great race.

  • Registered Users Posts: 30 CorribsideSteve

Props to him in fairness. The 24 team have perfected their set-up. Unless he has an unlikely accident, Byron's going to be a top 5 finisher most weeks the rest of the season.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 5,795 Mod ✭✭✭✭Nowso

there has been a lot less passing this year in general

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 5,795 Mod ✭✭✭✭Nowso

texas coming up / larsson on pole again . but toyota might be suited . ill go for Bell today

10 cautions and counting its a bit of a farce at this stage . loose wheels . larrsons wheel coming off

    Wrecksas Motor Speedway

  • Registered Users Posts: 30 CorribsideSteve

I thought it was a decent race at times but the problem of not being able to pass still remains. Unlucky for Denny at the end, and particularly Chastain. Good to see Elliott win. He drove like a demon all day.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,092 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Denny was very unlucky but he's won enough at this early stage of the season. Delighted for Chase to finally end that bad run, I can see him being regularly competitive again now.

Nascar have to do something to fix this passing issue. Larson was dominating and then couldn't get back near the top ten after his troubles and ended up finishing 21st.

Talladega tonight . looks like being a different race than what we had for a while

That was a genius strategy by the Toyotas but their own wreck really stuffed them. Unfortunate. Horrible hits into the wall.

it got Reddick and the other 2 that didnt wreck to the front . which led to them being in position in front of Bush etc to take the chance which they did so it did work in the end

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 5,795 Mod ✭✭✭✭Nowso

    dover coming up .

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 5,795 Mod ✭✭✭✭Nowso

Hamlin wins again - the toyota set up is getting him wins over the faster straight line cars .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,092 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Three wins for both Hamlin and Byron and we've only had 11 races.

I thought Larson was going to get him.

Don't know what happened to Truex, he looked like the winner but his car fell off a lot. He was trying to complete the double double. His brother won the Xfinity last year and he won this race. His brother won the Xfinity this year again. Dover is the closest track to where they come from so they really want wins there.

    were getting going very soon

boogity boogity boogity as my favourite Nascar commentator, Darrel Waltrip, used to say.

He was so funny, one time Bubba went between two cars on the race track and he immediately quipped 'I never thought I'd see a drive through on a NASCAR track' Bubba was sponsored by McDonalds.

Anyway this is a strange track, sometimes you get a bunch of yellows, other times you get none besides the stage ones.

Byron starting at the back but this is his type of race and the 45 car has some record in recent times on this track so Reddick is a live contender.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,092 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Surely Larson has to be dq'd? He purposely hit Buescher twice and it cost him the race. He clearly moved down on him both times.

that was worth the wait . the best race of the year so far , i agree with Larrson the 1.5 miles are better and there added to many shortcourses .

Buescher was very good especially in a ford

at the finish i thought that Larrson had won and he had . got a bit of a shock when buescher stsrted to celebrate

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 5,795 Mod ✭✭✭✭Nowso

it was comings together going for a last lap finish with 4 cars in a short area.there not going to dq people for that . rfk not taking it well

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,092 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

He clearly moved down to hit him twice. You don't get disqualified as far as I'm aware unless it can be deemed that it was purposely done to gain an advantage. In this instance it's very clear that it was purposely done to gain an advantage, I'm talking about the second time he moved down.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 5,795 Mod ✭✭✭✭Nowso

last year Larrson got closed off by dinny after that Larsson said he will have to race the close finshes different as in go on the attack

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,092 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

The difference there was the two cars were running close together so it's not clear that the incident was purposeful, even though you, I and everybody else knew it was.. This one was clearly intentional he moved down the track twice, he could get away with the first one but the second was so egregious there was no doubt.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,092 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

I don't think the next gen car makes a difference this week. This track is brutal.

I'd love to see Buescher do it after last week and I kinda fancy him, he's great at minding his tyres and he's got a fast racecar.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 5,795 Mod ✭✭✭✭Nowso

looks a tactical race - whoever gets it right at the end . ive gone for Hamlin . not done much yet but . should go close

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,092 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Chris Buescher is cursed at the minute.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 5,795 Mod ✭✭✭✭Nowso

unkucky - the lack of the ability to pass on a lot off tracks is something that needs to improve
