Hey all, be great to get some advice on this...

I was getting an engine alert on my 2013 2.2 Mazda 6 estate with 290k km's. The mechanic stripped it down to the second turbo, said there's a lot of play in it and scoring on the housing.

A reconditioned turbo is €800 and fitting would be €300. I owe him €220 already for work done plus there are two existing dash lights that he can't remove, says a Mazda garage will need to look at them - an airbag sensor and a tyre pressure alert.

All in all its going to cost €2000 approx. I wondered is it worth getting this work done or should I cut my losses?

    Thanks all!

Get the work done and sell it? Probably still 1500 quid in it after repairing it.

I can’t see anyone paying much more than €3k for it all fixed up. And who knows how much Mazda will charge to get rid of the other errors? Those cars are a ticking time bomb and this one has nearly 300k on the clock.

I think the €2,000 would be much better spent being put towards a more reliable car, as well as the money you’d get for selling the car as is. I’d imagine someone would pay €1,000 for it?
