Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

You are better off not seeing it. Wide, wide gaps all over the place. Non existent defending and we can't pass out of the back line at all. Twice Kelleher has given Konate suicide passes. Konate facing his goal and covered by 2 players and Kelleher passes into him. Reminded me of DeGea and Maguire incident but nobody pounced on the mistake against us.

Look at what Atalanta are doing though, they let Konate or VVD have the ball, they then go man for man on Endo, Jones and Mac Allister and get their spare man onto our other CB forcing us to play it longer to Gomez or Tsimksas on the half way line or a riskier pass into one of our CMs. Once the ball goes into the CMs they push hard and try turn the ball over which they've done successfully quite a few times.

It's not helping either that Tsimksas has been caught out of position a few times and Jones has lost the ball overplaying it as well.

my god those changes haven’t work one bit need to change it up start of second half . Was Danns not even in the squad ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,324 ✭✭✭ratracer

    Trent > Gomez

    Robbo > Timmy

    Szobo > Jones

    Salah > Nunez

    Jota > Gakpo

    Big guns needed!

There’s were warning signs of these performances even in Brighton and Sheffield united game before United. Conceding goals, opposition missing sitters.

Lost count the amount of times Kellerher is standing there with ball at his feet passing to static defenders who are getting closed down and have to rush a poor passes into midfield .

Is the season catching up on us? Trying to go deep in every competition and with the injuries we have had are we running out of steam?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,188 ✭✭✭mosstin

Salah, Robbo, Dom on at H/T.

    Could have made 5 changes.

    Reading this thread be like...

Calm down lads, poor show in that first half but let's see how the next three halves go.

Team has been slow, and have struggled badly against a well organized side. I thought we'd have been better prepared for their mano mano style, but we seem surprised by it. Kostas in particular has been terrible, badly at fault for the goal and so open down that left side.

I'd expect probably 2 changes at eh break, woth probably Joe Go to LB.

Feels like Klopp thought he could get away with a weakened team tonight but the changes have not worked at all. Jones has been bad and Tsimikas has been abysmal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,431 ✭✭✭✭TitianGerm

Jones off is the right decision here, just not up to speed yet after his injury. Tsimksas as well but in fairness to him he's had feck all game time recently.

'Liverpool need to score at least two goals without conceding to bring something to Italy to protect in the second leg'

Brian Kerr Ladies and Gentleman, such insight

True, but he was 20 yards away from where he should have been on several occasions, leaving his man do whatever he wanted, that's not fitness in fairness.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,431 ✭✭✭✭TitianGerm

I don't think that was it at all but rather that fresh legs of Tsimksas, Jones and Gakpo would add more energy to the team. Unfortunately the first two didn't work out tonight.

Trying to confuse them with our crap CKs and crosses

    Interesting tactics

I'll celebrate like its 1999 the day we get rid of nunez

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,664 ✭✭✭theoneeyedman

Unfortunately, CK looked like our most creative player in that first half.

    VVD goes close

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,431 ✭✭✭✭TitianGerm

Not fitness no but more game awareness where it's like he's not fully up to speed with what's going on.

    C'mon Diaz

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,431 ✭✭✭✭TitianGerm

Gakpo into the middle now and Diaz LW. Then Jota on in 10-15 minutes time.

    Awful defence

Kelleher has been poor. Putting us under pressure from bad slow passing

    Thaaat's atrocious defending.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,901 ✭✭✭✭klose

    This is bitterly disappointing

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,431 ✭✭✭✭TitianGerm

Robbo shouldn't be turning over the ball there but Konate needs to be more aware of the danger.

    Defence going walk about

    ******

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,829 ✭✭✭✭McDermotX

    Just on that finish

How would you think our lads would waste that ?

Doubt any of them would hit the target.

Nunez would hit the bar, Salah would snatch at it.........Jota would be having a fit on the touchline

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,139 ✭✭✭happyoutscan

We haven't a hope of scoring here, but Atalanta look like they'll get another considering how braindead we are.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,369 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

Never mind this competition ... If we're honest, the defence has been too leaky to win the PL.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,955 ✭✭✭dogbert27

We don't go through a European journey without at least one comeback game

Exactly why Diaz and Nunez cannot be carried, going forward. Their wastefulness hurts us.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,411 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

Last few weeks Gomez has reverted to the mean. Giving the ball away for fun in recent games.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,829 ✭✭✭✭McDermotX

    Should be 3

    Dreadful from Konate

  • Registered Users Posts: 178 ✭✭tomglsn

Looks like a tired team lads. To be fair, Nunez puts away the early chance, different game. He's nowehere near clinical enough.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,313 ✭✭✭✭citytillidie

    Get Gomez off

    ******

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,821 ✭✭✭BionicRasher

We could be 5 down here

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,129 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Would've left Elliott on I think, instead of bringing on Szobo so early.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,508 ✭✭✭Dick phelan

Shocking tonight. They look like they'll score a few more.
