Ionity charging network

I doubt that's the reason. It's likely just a technical glitch.

I'm not sure which route you are going or which Ionity you are planning on using, but give some thought to your plan b alternate location in case you are travelling at peak times. For example, Ionity Athlone can be a no go area on the Friday / Monday afternoon of a bank holiday weekend unless you want to queue for a while.

I was trying this as well at the start of February and never got it resolved - this was the generic rubbish i got from Ionity

We suggest trying the next few tips before subscribing to the PASSPORT, and hopefully this will allow you to continue.

• Make sure you have the latest version of the app
• Make sure you have the latest version of the mobile operating system
• clear the cache of the IONITY App (Can be done in the settings)
• All the permissions added that the application requested (can be checked in the settings as well)
• No security hardening measurements (like company phones have certain policies etc.)
• access to a strong internet connection.

Tried multiple phones - multiple emails and multiple cards. Took them an age to respond to my ticket as well - was pretty fed up about the whole thing

I've started to use my shortened Eircode address (not the eircode) as when I use the full address, some authentication system, and customer support, can't see to understand an address can be written a number of ways. I assume they are looking at the eircode description, not the one I registered with.

No idea about Ionity I've not used it. Just noticed it on other systems. Especially utilities and services..

True, although since most of the competition have caught up on pricing then you could argue they were keeping the prices artificially low

If 73c/kWh is what it takes to support a higher quality charging network then that's what it takes

I suspect the Ionity Passport is controlled through the app, so if you login on multiple devices it might work. I imagine there's a limit to one active session, and possibly geofencing so you can't start a charger in Belfast from Dublin

Tried ionity athlone today with plug and charge on my ID.4. Worked first time without any issues.

Still only 4 chargers in athlone , surely the +2 are needed there now given how busy it gets?

If you don't plan on using Ionity regularly, would you not even bother with subscription and just go direct? You won't make any savings until after 30kWh anyway.

What’s the deal with options for a Hyundai owner to get a good rate on Ionity?

My sister is picking up a 2nd hand Kona tomorrow, and she might be a very infrequent user of Ionity, so without any subscriptions is there any option to get a reduced rate if ever using Ionity?

Elli is marginally cheaper at 71c/kWh (never used the service myself) vs Ionity Direct 0.73c/kWh. May be others I'm not aware of.

Wasn't one of the ecars units broken for ages, so it would actually triple the number of chargers?

I think the chargers are around the side beside the shed which is possibly the owners house, so might not be visible from the roadside

No. 99% of chargers don't take credit or debit cards directly. I suggest you bring a public charging cable with you everywhere and learn how to use local chargers before you really need to. There are lots of different brands , apps, systems, charger types. It is a learning curve going to EV.

you should have a type 2 cable somewhere in the car… looks like this. This (blue one) is your AC charging cable to use when slow public charging (if you need to use your own cable it’s mostly AC slow charging)

when you are fast (DC) charging, the cable is always attached to the charger.

(Some older ESB DC chargers also have a cable on them with AC (43kW), but they are for older Zoe’s mainly… (they will work, but only at your cars max AC charging speed (7kW, 11kW or 22kW)
