Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Simple ball Trent FFS……..tried the spectacular FFS

As a Mayo man I wouldn't be a fan of that term, but it is absolutely fitting for what has happened over the last couple of weeks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,595 ✭✭✭kingshankly

Trent awful since he came on

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,107 ✭✭✭mada999

We just never pick the easy passes…

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,107 ✭✭✭mada999

Salah jumping out of the way of challenges all game

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,440 ✭✭✭SM01

No composure, no urgency, awful sloppiness and completely indecisive.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,415 ✭✭✭✭LuckyLloyd

It's not unlucky at a certain point. Missing chances repeatedly and failing to take a reasonable percentage saps confidence and cohesion in a side. There is a mental element to elite level sport and looking up the pitch at another sitter missed means strange things begin to happen.

The commentators keep talking about the time left, and I just think it's meaningless. We're not scoring. I've watched enough football.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,107 ✭✭✭mada999

yup especially as there'll only be 3 mins added on… even though the 4 official took up 2

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,049 ✭✭✭Ikozma

City absolutely destroyed this lot last week

City took their chances, that's the difference. Palace caused them problems as well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,415 ✭✭✭✭LuckyLloyd

It's execution, had all the play and chances we would have needed to put up a win by a couple of goals.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,596 ✭✭✭cmac2009

Feel sorry for Klopp, what a disheartening and depressing way to finish here as a manager. All the bs spouted by the players how they were going to give their all for him for the remainder of the season, if anything it looks like the opposite.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,107 ✭✭✭mada999

keep the ball on the deck ffs

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,411 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

Honestly think that going behind in 21 games this season has meant they’ve had to burn so much energy chasing games that it’s all caught up with them at the wrong time. Never sustainable to keep going behind in games like that. Batteries look drained.

Another season ending in disappointment it feels like, I know we were only hoping for Top 4 when the season started but with the way it's gone this drop off has really hurt. Out of 3 competitions in 4 weeks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,415 ✭✭✭✭LuckyLloyd

Well that's the title anyway. In order for the last week to feel so disappointing, you needed to get into the position. But it is what it is now.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,016 ✭✭✭ballyargus

We've been papering over the cracks for long enough. This is the evidence of where the team is at. Nearly. But not enough

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,411 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

Another certain goal that hits a Palace defender.

I don't think effort has been an issue at all. They're clearly trying but the season has caught up with them now and they've hit a barren patch in front of goal which is making everything seem way worse.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,526 ✭✭✭Pepp1989

Season torpedoed in 4 days. Impressive.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,714 ✭✭✭✭machiavellianme

Salah has been woeful. At least Diaz dribbled around the occasional defender. Nothing is working for Mo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,983 ✭✭✭✭Osmosis Jones

All that's missing is a shot hit out of the stadium from 40 yards by one of the centre halfs now

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,049 ✭✭✭Ikozma

We can relax now in the knowledge our season is over

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,983 ✭✭✭✭Osmosis Jones

Watch Arsenal drop points later now just to keep the hurt coming lol

The waffle about Palace playing well is hilarious.

This is all about Liverpool. They should've won by 3 or 4. But the team is incapable of scoring.

This has been annihilation in the second half. The players have simply bottled it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,595 ✭✭✭kingshankly

Elliot has yet to find a red shirt with a pass

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,799 ✭✭✭Ken Tucky

Palace won't do this again till they play us next year

No complaints though. Team is out of ideas

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,596 ✭✭✭cmac2009

Konate tried a few times but he doesn't even have the distance. Just gets it over the byline.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,369 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

They've done little in the 2nd half. One way traffic. If the players had anything about them, we score 3 or 4.

Bottle job of the highest calibre

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,829 ✭✭✭✭McDermotX

    Just. Not. Good. Enough.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,440 ✭✭✭SM01

Sh!tty hopeful crosses to nobody in particular, that favour the defender nearly every time. Why?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,300 ✭✭✭✭ben.schlomo

And that's a wrap. We did well to be in a title race but everything has added up, taken a toll and now it's just see out the season with pressure off.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,829 ✭✭✭✭McDermotX

Thank God for all those senior players coming back though

Just too much. We all saw the cracks. The late goals. The lethargic starts.

Balls deep for the 2nd leg of the Europa to at least show something. City won't be fcuking up, but I'm not 100% Arsenal won't be either.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,526 ✭✭✭Pepp1989

It actually is a total bottle job. Not to be said lightly. They missed a few chances and weren't clinical. Then their heads went collectively.

  • Registered Users Posts: 264 ✭✭505_

it had to be Crystal Palace again. Lots of crystanbul banter on the way I’m sure.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,049 ✭✭✭Ikozma

Drastic changes needed by this new manager,a complete new front 3 for starters.

    Absolutely disgusting performance.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,522 ✭✭✭✭noodler

I dunno why Jones starts, why Elliott and Gakpo don't etc

But anyway, such a sad way for all this to end.

If you'd told me a cup and top 4 at the start of the season I would have taken it but it could be a while before we are ahead of city with 7 games to go.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,411 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

Palace scored twice at City last week. Only difference is City take their chances usually so it didn’t matter.

Every game it feels like we miss more chances than the one before. Nunez, Salah, Jota, and Diaz all had shots from within 6 yards of goal and not one of them scored!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,219 ✭✭✭McFly85

We’ve thrown it all away in the most frustrating fashion. It’s not like we’ve been outplayed, we just have weeks of big chances we left on the pitch.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,168 ✭✭✭Augme

We're back in the CL next season. This season has been progress and it also laid bare where are issues are and what nexts to be done in the summer. It's a huge transfer window ahead, not just because Klopp is leaving.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,983 ✭✭✭✭Osmosis Jones

Yeah it's another year where we've exceeded expectations but still somehow managed to end the season in heartbreak.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 785 ✭✭✭patsy sally

And that's that it was exciting while it lasted but all the missed chances in last few games have really caught us in the end, fair play too them for Been up there for this length but shame it's not going to be, but life goes on regardless disappointed today but won't be for too long.

  • Registered Users Posts: 264 ✭✭505_

if Klopp wansn’t leaving this wouldn’t be as bad. But hard not to be pessimistic now. Hard to see any other manager getting more out of the players here. So imagine how much worse Nunez can be.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,073 ✭✭✭SuperTortoise

We rebuilt the midfield last year, we need to rebuild the forward line this year.

Salah's few goals has masked a very poor year, all good things come to an end but the front 3 that started today should be moved on this summer, Diaz has regressed, Salah is past his prime, and Nunez was not and will never be good enough for a team looking to win the big trophies.

Real shame that Klopp's reign will end like this, he deserved more.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,829 ✭✭✭✭McDermotX

That Jones effort really annoys me……..even though the likes of the Nunez one at the keeper etc are more 'well he should've scored', the Jones one, he actually done the hard bit - took the ball, got in front of the defender etc

Not an easy chance, but we score that and we go on to win. No doubt about it.

  • Moderators, Education Moderators Posts: 5,503 Mod ✭✭✭✭spockety

It's not just the missed chances. It's hard to believe, but Liverpool are now most vulnerable to Klopp's own strategy, the press. Players looked hassled and harried the last few matches. We've been figured out, can't handle our own medicine.
