    Max is gone, mad times

Whatever the issue was with the car it’s sorted out anyway, he’s in another league to everyone else. Beautiful to see.

    **** disaster for Alonso.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,904 ✭✭✭✭skipper_G

Ah gutted for Alonso, but that was great racing. Nice work from Perez to sneak one in the open goal the Spaniards left him

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,282 ✭✭✭PsychoPete

That was a naughty move from Sainz

Max pulled out nearly 13 seconds in 10 laps on Hamilton , that's ridiculous. Alonso holding everyone up really saved Hamilton

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,698 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

right max wins the sprint. See ye in about four hours time lads.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 10,669 Mod ✭✭✭✭Andrew76

Yep Lewis owes Alonso a big thank you there. Norris’s mistake was costly, not great under pressure he is.

Might have been a case that he’s not used to being in the lead anymore and the pressure got to him, moved too far left and onto the kerbing according to Rosberg. He was never going to keep Max behind him anyway.

Decent race that, wouldn’t have bothered getting up at this hour for a practice session. I’ve no issue with Sainz getting his elbows out against Leclerc, hard racing as mentioned earlier.

Leclerc took it badly though , gloves off at Ferrari now for the rest of the season

Nico Rosberg is slowly but surely turning into Sandi Toksvig.

Sky sabotaging Crofty’s efforts not to provide any spoilers for this morning’s Sprint Race, by displaying the current, post sprint race driver standings, literally moments after he said there would be no spoilers.

    Hamilton P18, yikes

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,477 ✭✭✭✭Ghost Train

Yuki also not doing well in qualifying this race.

I didn't spot why a lot of them didn't have banker laps earlier in the session. Hamilton disaster

Did Tsunoda get caught by the yellow flag for Sargeant?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,282 ✭✭✭PsychoPete

Sainz very lucky to not make bits of the car

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 10,669 Mod ✭✭✭✭Andrew76

Nice one, Sainz managed to get the car going again so presumably he’s not out of qualifying yet. .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,534 ✭✭✭sioda

Wasnt aware they could refire the car with the hybrid system.

    Missed Q3 what happened Sargeant?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,477 ✭✭✭✭Ghost Train

Not sure. Good to see Ricciardo get a bit more from the car for once.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,698 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

    verstappen takes pole.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 10,669 Mod ✭✭✭✭Andrew76

Great end to qualifying there with 2nd place swapping with each driver crossing the line. Alonso with a cracking lap, Perez did well to slot into 2nd but nobody troubling Max.

    Ferrari struggling for some reason.

so max equals Mika Hakkinen in taking pole in the first five races.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,534 ✭✭✭sioda

Ignoring Max fantastic end to qualifying, 6 changes to second place in a row gutted for Piastri as he must thought he was flying

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,529 ✭✭✭recyclebin

Perez has upped his results in qualification so that seat should be safe for next season.

Red Bull in even more control than they were last year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,528 ✭✭✭NinjaTruncs

Hamilton was lucky Alonso held everyone up for so long in the sprint, I'd say 3 more laps and Perez would have caught him.

That was some great racing on lap 15/16 for the fight for 3rd. The Perez move on Sainz and Alonso was great.

Hard to see anything but a RedBull one two. It's seem like Hamilton has no fight in him at all and blaming the car but interesting to hear Russell claiming the cars are the same

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,874 ✭✭✭This is it

Yeah, heard Rosberg calling Hamilton out on that during qualifying

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,203 ✭✭✭shanec1928

the midfield battle will be good here, everyone was fairly tight together, the last podium spot could be anyone’s assuming red bull (checo) makes a mess to ruin a 1,2.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,020 ✭✭✭Hijpo

Talk of AM appealing quali result due to Sainz causing a red flag and continuing?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,849 ✭✭✭✭AMKC
    Ms

That was a great qualifying session. A classic. Loved it. Only way it could have been better is if Piastri had of done a Sainz but done it worse than Sainz just to wreck his car.

Bottas seems to have finally found his mojo again too which is good. Would be happy to see him get a point or two in the race if Sauber do not fu-ck up there pit stops again.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

I thought if you get the car back to pits under its own power you can continue in the session ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,028 ✭✭✭✭klose

The rules state that if a car stops in the qualifying session they aren’t allowed to take any more part, session was red flagged so assume Ferrari will argue he didn’t stop in that case?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,393 ✭✭✭✭dulpit

Just watched quali back now. The end was entertaining. Nico Rosberg is poor though, he brings nothing to the table with his commentary. Crofty doing his best to get him to run us through a lap and we don't get much. When you have Karun Chandok available it makes it worse.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,020 ✭✭✭Hijpo

    Interesting.

So what's the cut off I wonder. Does the car have to be recovered in order for it to to be classed as "stopped"? Didn't they red flag it because he was stopped?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,176 ✭✭✭Longing

Yes Roseberg was woeful today in comms. Really poor showing. He is better asking questions in the pitlane before and after the race. But Sky have pulled the plug on that so far so they had to push him in somewhere.

Hamilton complaining on the radio. Which is not new, but what I found interesting was when he remarked on the car not turning in. He didn't say the car will not turn in at slow speed corners. He said This Thing will not turn in… He is done with Mercedes personally I feel he is not the driver from three or four years ago. Over 1 second of his team mate today and 18th tomorrow were a track he has always done well I think he has won in China six times. I could be wrong. But if I were a Ferrari fan I would be worried. No doubt about it.

Both Alpine drivers making it into Q2 is good. Keep the improvements coming Alpine.

Nico was turning the knife a fair bit. Having said that, he had a point.

Hamilton keeps blaming the car but Russell isn't doing too badly

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,662 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

He actually took the blame there himself for the poor qualification in an interview in front of a grandstand full of fans full of admiration.

It is a bit ironic that they got Hamilton from wish for qualifying.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,282 ✭✭✭PsychoPete

Rosberg loves spilling all the paddock gossip

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,477 ✭✭✭✭Ghost Train

Alonsos car getting a bit of last minute repair, not what you expect on the grid, hopefully will still be within the rules or within spec for bodywork

Hamilton and Russell did go opposite directions with setup, are the Parc ferme rules more relaxed this weekend that Hamilton can change the setup more before the race. Might be fun to see if he make can make progress through the cars at the back.

Edit:looks like parc ferme conditions open again after sprint race but closed from race qualifying.
