Prices are a bit crazy for this!!! 😣

They are trying to shift as many VIP tickets as they can first. There will be plenty of semi-normal priced tickets available closer to the time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,451 ✭✭✭Wrongway1985

Teen Mortgage who supported Off! in The Grand Social recently added as openers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 717 ✭✭✭RolandGoose

Perhaps an indication that it's not selling as well as they hoped / expected.

I am glad people are not falling for this VIP nonsense. There was enough casualties of this tactic at Coldplay.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,454 ✭✭✭Jaffa3000

Teen Mortgage won’t affect sales at all with how big they are. Bit daft why they’re even bothering with a support act as well because it’ll only cause Weezer to have a shorter set

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,965 ✭✭✭✭suvigirl

I was away when this went on sale and ticketmaster were having none of me!!!

What's with all these ridiculous notion tickets? Please tell me they will be turned into normal tickets closer to the day? I don't want any experiences, I want to see smashing pumpkins play a gig 🙄

Very often platinum tickets and the likes are downgraded and sold at "normal" price nearer the gig, I'd imagine it'll happen in this case

No way of knowing when, sadly, just case of checking Ticketmaster periodically. Probably not until a few weeks before, though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,174 ✭✭✭piplip87

Lads the wife bought me a ticket for xmas and let it slip. I already had one. Its up on TM standing ticket for face value

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,488 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Must be in dire straits if there going public

Whoever gets the gig will have some story to tell and wish everyone all the best

I'll chuck in my CV for that. Won't get it obviously but that'd be mental getting to tour with them.

Surely it's more that they just have relatively straight forward parts to play? A band like them could easily hire a touring musician

I'm trying to get two tickets. If anyone is selling please give me a nudge, thanks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,879 ✭✭✭✭Arghus

Seems to be impossible to get a sniff of tickets anywhere.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,931 ✭✭✭✭Electric Nitwit

Have Ticketmaster opened up resales yet?

It's usually closer to the time that they do, and that people's plans get in the way. I'd say there'll be a few pop up a week or two before the day

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,454 ✭✭✭Jaffa3000

    Resale is available, transfer isn’t

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,017 ✭✭✭Zardoz

Ticketmaster used to release extra tickets for gigs in the 3arena regularly in the past but their latest policy is to sell these as platinum.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,931 ✭✭✭✭Electric Nitwit

If/when they realise these aren't selling they do often drop them back down to standard price. No way of knowing when though, annoyingly, you just have to be lucky to be checking at the right time

I held off as I'm still not sure if I can make it, but I'm quietly confident that a ticket will be available if I decide to go

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 314 ✭✭exilec

one standing resale just gone up face value

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,454 ✭✭✭Jaffa3000

Stage times off MCD, bit hard to read but Teen Mortgage on at 6.30, Weezer 7.15 and Pumpkins at 9. Looks like Weezer will only end up doing an hour or so again which is very annoying as they haven’t done a proper headline show in about 20 years here. Don’t really get why the need for a support band

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,931 ✭✭✭✭Electric Nitwit

Suggests Pumpkins will probably only do 90mins too 😕

More excited for Weezer than Pumpkins

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,864 ✭✭✭SuperBowserWorld

Haven't got a ticket, but I'd rather go see Weezer in a separate indoor gig. I'd say both bands could easily sell out separate gigs in 3arena. They are diminishing themselves with the silly double bill.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,454 ✭✭✭Jaffa3000

I think Weezer are one of those bands who can do bigger than the Olympia but not quite 3 Arena. In Britain they’ve usually done academies/concert halls outside of London so they’re getting to play bigger venues than usual

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,765 ✭✭✭Fanirish

nah they couldn’t. Neither would even do trinity on their own. This double bill set up works perfectly for them throughout Europe

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,048 ✭✭✭crl84

    They've sold out 13k 3Arena together.

Smashing Pumpkins would easily sell out Trinity on their own.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,765 ✭✭✭Fanirish

Maybe just about but everyone I know is going for the double bill nature, that they like both a bit wouldn’t pay €70 to see either on their own

Nah. Weezer on the bill is just a bonus. The double bill is making 3Arena viable, but Smashing Pumpkins on their own would easily shift 5000 tickets.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,765 ✭✭✭Fanirish

underestimating appeal of weezer, they are bringing a lot of people to the show

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,048 ✭✭✭crl84

No I'm not. You're underestimating the appeal of Smashing Pumpkins. The idea that they couldn't do Trinity on their own is pretty laughable. Weezer probably wouldn't (or at least wouldn't sell it out), but would easily be able to do two nights at the Olympia if they were touring here on their own.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,765 ✭✭✭Fanirish

I said maybe a trinity on their own. Anecdotally I know but everyone I know going said it was cause of double bill, a few Very wary of smashing pumpkins show as hit and miss nature of billy/sm shows over the years.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,048 ✭✭✭crl84

No, you didn't: "Neither would even do trinity on their own"

My spirits rose when I saw the amount of new posts.... Maybe there's some tickets after being released...

For what it's worth, I think both bands could probably sell out the 3Arena on their own - just about. SP a bit more so than Weezer IMO.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 858 ✭✭✭Homesick Alien

I would happily pay 80 quid to see each of them separately

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,325 ✭✭✭Hippodrome Song Owl

Total opposite perspective here. Most people I know going or looking for tickets don't know anything about Weezer other than two songs, one of which is mostly written off as little more than a novelty track. Most are annoyed it's a shared bill. Whereas Smashing Pumpkins are icons.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,454 ✭✭✭Jaffa3000

At Hella Mega it seemed like Weezer were more of a novelty for most, only songs people really knew were Island in the Sun, Say It Ain't So and Buddy Holly.

Looks like Smashing Pumpkins will be doing a full set if they start at 9.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,563 ✭✭✭✭everlast75

Would I have gone to see the pumpkins on their own?

Weezer? Also yes. Blue and Green albums are phenomenal.

I've seen Weezer and Smashing Pumpkins separately before and they were both great. I'm delighted they're on the same bill.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,864 ✭✭✭SuperBowserWorld

Interesting ... Just had a look on Spotify ... Weezer more popular than Smashing Pumpkins. 15m vs 11m

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,659 ✭✭✭Penfailed

As much as I like both bands, being from the north west, I'd travel to Dublin to see SP, but I'd only go as far as Belfast for Weezer. The fact that they are supporting SP is a massive bonus.

Gigs '24 - Ben Ottewell and Ian Ball (Gomez), The Jesus & Mary Chain, The Smashing Pumpkins/Weezer, Pearl Jam, Green Day, Stendhal Festival, Forest Fest, Electric Picnic, Pixies, Ride, Therapy?, Public Service Broadcasting, IDLES, And So I Watch You From Afar

Gigs '25 - Spiritualized, Orbital, Supergrass, Stendhal Festival, Forest Fest, Electric Picnic, Vantastival

'Hash Pipe' is a very underated Weezer song, cant wait to hear it live 'IF' they play it. Would Weezer be 'Nerd Rock' or they just dress like ?

After missing Hella Mega because of that Bastard Covid, im buzzing for the shows this summer including this and Green Day later in June

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,965 ✭✭✭✭suvigirl

Probably an age thing? I presume the majority of Smashing Pumpkins fans are older then Weezer fans.

I'd have thought Weezer and Pumpkins fans would be the same age. Blue album was 94, Siamese Dream 93. I'd regard pumpkins as a much bigger band, so I'm surprised by those spotify views. That said, Weezer were in my top 5 most listened to acts last year, the pumpkins weren't.

My fear with Weezer is that they'll think the crowd is a heavier crowd due to the pumpkins and will play a lot of Van Weezer. That's not a Weezer album I'd pick out as one of their better ones. I do however love their 4 seasons albums. I'm not sure anyone else did though.

Anyway, I still don't have a ticket, so I can play whatever I want in my back garden.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,454 ✭✭✭Jaffa3000

They won't do Van Weezer, Weezer's setlist are for the most part the classics plus a couple songs off the latest project (which is very annoying as it means they end up leaving stuff out off White, EWBAITE etc.). Annoyingly they didn't even play End Of The Game at Hella Mega

New guitar player for Smashing Pumpkins has been announced and (unfortunately) it’s not myself. Someone called Kiki Wong who has apparently done stuff with Taylor Swift.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 689 ✭✭✭cheese sandwich

Following the departure of longtime guitarist Jeff Schroeder last October, frontman Billy Corgan put out an open call for his replacement. The band received more than 10,000 applicants, which Corgan then whittled down to a group of finalists who auditioned in-person in Los Angeles last month. He settled on Wong, a veteran guitarist who has performed with the likes of  Taylor Swift, Usher, and Bret Michaels, as well as with rock bands Nylon Pink, Hellfire Heart, and currently, Vigil of War.

    It’s a bit Spinal Tap, isn’t it?

Anyway, looking forward to hearing her in June!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,451 ✭✭✭Wrongway1985

Played drums on an awards show performance of 'Shake it off'.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 717 ✭✭✭RolandGoose

I was alarmed when the first thing that came up when googling her was "YouTuber" 🤮

She sure can play though and will serve the 3rd guitar parts in the live setting well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,381 ✭✭✭893bet

Just got two standing tickets for 107 each on ticket master. **** stoked!

The were labeled as “promoter presale” tickets.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,866 ✭✭✭flasher0030

Tickets still available on Ticketmaster. Block M. €230 for the 2 including fees. Tickets available in Block E - €443. Bloody hell. You'd want to be getting a BJ from Billy for that price.
