Completely agree. If the OP is shocked by a sweet, doting teacher identifying physical differences between boys and girls, the OP can take their children out of the public system and keep them at home.

Absolutely, you're a good parent, don't assume others are Gym_imposter! Some parent's don't teach their kids body parts, some parents spend more on cigarettes & booze than they do on nutritious food for their kids. Some parents smoke dope on their way to school with the kids!

Back to the topic — you can annoy the creche by complaining about the teacher doing her job. What do you want to achieve? Force the creche staff to engage in meaningless interactions with you on every point of the curriculum at the expense of their main job? Or may be give them time to do their job as they see fit?

That’s fairly old school thinking. Using anatomically correct terms for body parts benefits kids body image, it removes any sense of shame or taboo around these body parts. That’s why teachers are teaching kids the proper words & most modern parenting books & literature also advises parents & caregivers to do so.

It was probably viewed as received wisdom a couple of decades ago when it was first muted. Now it's convectional wisdom and it's accepted by both experts and pubic that it's better to use proper anatomical terms for penises, vaginas, vulvas, strotums, testicles etc… just as it is accepted to call fingers fingers and ears ears. In time they'll be saying "a kick in the balls" and "you're a pain in the gee" and all the other fun stuff!! but as young children, it's best they know the proper names for the parts of their bodies.

Children should be taught this stuff in school, in a standardised and well thought out way. Leaving it to parents is ridiculous, you'd get all sorts of nonsense being taught.

This thread is an example of why sex education should be mandatory in schools and taken out of the hands of inexperienced, prudish and overly protective parents.
