Minors are down 0-07 v 1-02 at ht

It's so noticable how bad our kickouts are, putting us under big pressure.

Minor football: Kerry 0-7 Cork 1-2 HT. Miskella penalty after 20 min keeping us in touch. struggling to win our kick outs.

Its a brutal game to watch. Not any of the players fault but it feels like the team mirror each other just with Kerry a bit better so far

Kerry 0-12 Cork 1-7 FT. closed the gap to 1 a couple of times but never got level

Poor enough overall but they will surely improve for their next game.

That was a terrible game to watch. Kerry just that bit better.

Football is becoming unwatchable whereas I love any underage hurling game

I'm Cork public and I don't want to see him gone. When he started I felt 3 years might not be enough time to get the minors and U20s going probably, but work towards that and you never know what might occur in the meantime. I mean, who would you appoint to bring them on that knows them more than Pat?

Limerick were planning well in advance of one or two years, look at their schools team (Ard Scoil) and Harty successes a decade ago. Ard Scoil were scouting for players in primary school ffs, that's the kind of planning required, not knee jerk reaction tactics. Leave Pat complete his term, and Ben take it from there and we should be in good shape.

And you are the one then that calls me negative when I say the same thing as you about the footballers. How ironic is that. I rest my case.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,541 ✭✭✭The White Feather

I was talking about the game itself. Not the players. I said it at half time too.

It was interesting see some Cork players clapping each other on back after last night. I hope it was sign that they can move up a gear. Was decent cork crowd at it. Some handy players nothing stood out for either though.

Going tonight again. Hopefully a good performance need keep Dillon quiet.

I reckon there is a lot of room for improvement from the minor team, a lot of fine players but the performance in general was poor.

Regardless of what happens this year, i do think that Pat needs to start blooding more of the all Ireland winning U20's next year.

The issue here i think is that he's been manager for almost two years now, and he still hasn't settled on an established starting fifteen.

We've been way too loose and easy to score against for the last decade and a bit, i don't think there's any knee jerking highlighting that.

We do seem to be behind the curve tactically (it's been that way since that 2006 all Ireland defeat to Kilkenny) in comparison to our competitors. I get the impression that other counties are confident enough that they'll always beat us in a shootout imo.

We could be looking at a record here of one or two championship wins in eight attempts under Pat Ryan at the end of the championship.

That would make Pat Ryan our worst manager since Con Roche in 1989. I do agree with you that Ben O'Connor is the heir apparent for the job though.

    Kerry 0-9 Cork 0-5 HT

    Ht Kerry 0-09 v 0-05

Open enough first half, both defences doing well. We have created a few goal chances and will need to take them in the second half if we are to win. We'll have the wind in the second half.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,541 ✭✭✭The White Feather

We have had a couple of goal chances that would have been great to get one

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,541 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Uphill task now after a Kerry goal

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 32,880 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

6 mins in and we conceed 1-03

As good as game over already.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,541 ✭✭✭The White Feather

We need to start going for goals now. We haven't taken any chance yet

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,541 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Should have tucked that away there. Another goal chance missed

Lads doesn't matter what grade it is against Kerry they always beat us. No fight no guts nothing. You just couldn't watch Cork in any grade playing Kerry. Clean sweep done again by Kerry in all grades.

  • Registered Users Posts: 18,242 ✭✭✭✭namloc1980

Same old story no matter the grade. Very frustrating to see lads getting into great positions and just fluffing it. Not clinical enough at all.

Start of the second half, conceeded 6 points, lost by 6 points.

Created several goal chances during the game - didn't take a single one.

Corkery's young fell looks a nice player.

  • Registered Users Posts: 111 ✭✭BarryNumber1

Good inputs. I do think that there's more light at the end of the tunnel this time around, but I will concede Pat is under pressure to deliver sooner rather than later. Dropping in more U20s is an option but you'd be afraid of the roasting they could get until they are established players. Look at last years U20 final where Offaly's Screeney was playing a blinder, Cork upped the ante physically in the second half and that was that. That could be what awaits some of out U20s when it comes to tackling the physicality of Limerick, Clare, Tipp, Galway, KK, etc at championship time. That could be an even uglier sight.

Tactically? We're not at the races at the moment. I think we can now handle physical teams, but when we dish it out we get someone sent off. We probably need to hunt in packs a bit more like other teams to disrupt, maul, second arm, and so on- but that was never Cork's style. We also cannot handle when other teams get cute… see Clare's last few minutes antics of dragging players down and disrupting the game. All that is up to the sideline to get players prepped, and by the way Cork management need to start reminding the refs to play a manly game etc before the games, or maybe Clare are just a bloody good team and we were always going to be a point or two behind. Anyway, what the hell do I know, I never got as far as playing for Cork. Onwards and upwards.

We were a puck of the ball away from making it out of Munster last year. We didn't have much luck against Clare last Sunday either!

I'd like to there's a big performance in us against Limerick. Obviously they'll be huge favourites, but i'd like to think we'll at least make them work for the win.

We haven't beaten Limerick in the championship since 2019, so it would be nice to get that monkey off our backs!

It would be the best feeling in the world if we got totally written off the weekend nobody gave them a hope and Cork then came out and won comprehensively. Carlsberg don't do dreams but if they did this would be up there with the best.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,025 ✭✭✭Straight Talker

We'll need Limerick to have an off day and for us to play out of our skins to topple them. We did give them a game last year, but it was a case of close but no cigar at the end of the day unfortunately!

Tipp 2-10 Cork 0-7 HT. Cork mistakes punished for both goals. We have hit some poor wides too

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,541 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Very poor first half from Cork. It looks like we are going through the motions. Load of really bad wides killing us and the gap is very large now

O'Regan isn't a centre back, and they are all guilty of taking greedy pot shots from 45+ yards without a thought for the inside line. Leahy having an off day on frees isn't helping either.
