I think after Crooksling and Newtownmountkennedy things will probably be done much more secretly.

They'll probably move people to places in much smaller numbers. It'll be hard to keep a lid on it though.

Fair enough.

I can't tell anyone how to stem the tide emo unfortunately .

But many IPAS could be housed more quickly while getting larger accommodation centres ready.

It's a quick fix, as I said before or quicker than buying land, getting planning and building accom.

It is a large building and numbers of new asylum seekers could go through there and from there to the larger centres as they become available.

(Not to mention the people I was replying to were upset about IPAS being moved to less affluent areas .)

Older buildings that need repurposing are faster and cheaper than new build for temporary accommodation .

In this case it (BSH) is already in public ownership and half done .

And in amongst south city dwellers for a change .

Larger IPAS accom centres need to be built and quick . We should have had them ever since the war in Ukraine and the surge of refugees from there .

Faster processing , more countries on safe lists and more attention to deporting those who don't qualify are what is needed to happen ....eh ...two years ago !

This knee jerk response to every surge and poor planning is pathetic and the reason why we are always running to catch up with this situation.

There are plenty of non nationals who got their papers, got family over and are relaxing on social welfare. Some have set up businesses, taking over areas. Same as everywhere I guess.

Just see that the only public bus, including school buses, YES 1 bus, to Crooksling is even more packed now with school kids having to share a packed bus with a load of male migrants.

I posted that link you quote ..because if you read it past the 17 million , you would see that the architect for the Dept of Housing thought it was a great and cost effective idea, that would fund over 600 hostel beds in the city and less expensive or time consuming than building modular housing from scratch !

It just wasn't quick enough for Ukrainian refugees at the time.

So it probably will be ditched again instead of rowing forward to create a really good economical accommodation in the city centre.

This shows the short sightedness of the DoH and lack of joined up thinking of the government departments as a whole .

This accommodation could have been done in less than 9 months so the present crisis since Christmas could have been averted .

But that would have meant Darragh O'Brien talking to Stephen Donnelly and including Roderick O' Gorman in the discussions .

Which they obviously did not do ..party politics in a coalition ?

We will never have any sense or organisation with this government .

THEY are the problem here .
