Solar on west facing roof, does the gradient of the roof matter

    We are doing a renovation of our back. We have an option of a flat roof or more of a slanted, lean to.

    Would that have an effect on the amount of solar energy we could capture on a West facing roof?

    I would guess that a flat roof would get less sunlight ?
