    Tyrod Taylor is trash

    So ends another disappointing season

I like beating the Eagles but it was a pointless victory

Picking at 6 in the draft

    6, 39, 47, 70, 107, 139, 184

Schoen better get a hit with that pick and not a bust like Evan Neal

  • Registered Users Posts: 944 ✭✭✭tgdaly

Not sure where we go in the draft. We're not getting one of the top 2 qbs and with Shedeur Sanders going back to Colorado for another year I'm not sure if there's a qb3 we should be targeting.

There was rumours of us targeting a trade for Justin Fields if Chicago take Williams. But with how much better Fields has played the last few weeks it's kind of unclear what Chicago will do and how the draft dominos might fall

'Twas a very strange season. The injury to AT must have had a huge effect as when he was back and with some tweaks, the O-line became serviceable. But to start 2-8 after last season was an abomination and took a lot of good will with it.

The good news is that this could have spiralled and we could have had another 2 year HC cycle. At least that didn't and some of the play towards the end was reaffirming of the coaching staff and a number of key personnel.

Bobby Johnson and McGaughey gone thank f**k. We need a decent OL coach and a serviceable nay consistent ST coach. The topical talk is all about the sacks, but for me, the running game all year was a disgrace. We couldn't open a hole to save our life. Some of the 3dr/4th and short QB sneaks were embarrassing. This needs a completely new approach.

What we do with the #6 pick is anyones guess. Can't get the top 2 QBs or MHJr. The LSU pair of Daniels or Nabirs would be interesting. Not sold on Pennix but all he does is win. A year in the system behind Jones could be interesting. Move on in 2025.

Wink Martindale has resigned as DC

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,991 ✭✭✭wawaman

The new DC could be a make or break decision for Daboll

  • Registered Users Posts: 31 Gilly43

New OL coach Carmen Bricillo recruited from Raiders. Seems to come highly regarded and telling that Raiders fans disappointed in losing him. Hopefully the turnstile is closed. Whether it’s Dimes or please God a drafted QB, neither can prosper while getting the shite kicked out of them!

Wink & his wee buddies were acting like pricks…..Daboll & Schoen handled it perfectly. Will be interesting if he resurfaces in NFC East!

  • Registered Users Posts: 31 Gilly43

No franchise tag for Saquon. Looks like he’s done in NY & headed for Houston

Theres gaps all over this roster which makes me wonder how they approach the draft. Free agent QB & move trade out of 6 for more picks??

  • Registered Users Posts: 944 ✭✭✭tgdaly

Barkley gone to Eagles apparently, 3 years, $37.75 mil

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 207 ✭✭Repo101

Not surprised really. With the state of our roster we can't be committing that kind of money to an injury prone RB.

Brian Burns traded to Giants signing straight off for 5 years/$150m with $87.5m guaranteed, 2nd/5th round picks going to Carolina

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,052 ✭✭✭KrustyUCC

My Barkley jersey is useless now

Hurts that he'll prob turn into a superstar at the Eagles

we gave up a nice amount for Burns. Hope he's worth it

  • Registered Users Posts: 31 Gilly43

What’s the consensus on the draft?

We’re not getting the QB we need at 6. Would we trade up? Mara has said he’d support Dabs & Schoen if they want a QB but I’m not sure if it’s the right thing.

FFS even if we did get a QB we’d have no one to throw it to!! Better build the support cast at this stage??

  • Registered Users Posts: 944 ✭✭✭tgdaly

My only worry is that next years qb class looks to be a bit shallow.

I'd actually like if we traded down and maybe got an extra first round pick and maybe take a flyer on a Bo Nix or Michael Penix in the middle first round. Jones is going to be the starter going into the season anyways so at least they'd have time to sit and learn.

Or maybe just stockpile picks and go after Shedeur Sanders next year 😁

  • Registered Users Posts: 944 ✭✭✭tgdaly

    Malik Nabers it is

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,052 ✭✭✭KrustyUCC

Big call from Schoen and Daboll

    All the QBs gone now

    All in on Jones

    Nabers didn't seem too thrilled

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,071 ✭✭✭boccy23

Glad we didn't take any of the non-Top 3 QBs. Would rather take a proper #1 X WR and take care of the O-line. Take away the excuses and see what DJ can do. We have to pay him in 2024 anyway. This clears the path to see what we have.

Nabers, Jaylon & Wandale plus a better O-line (minus Saquon). I like the direction.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,052 ✭✭✭KrustyUCC

    Time will tell alright

    Lot of faith in Jones

Our O-line def should be better this year and you never know we may still draft some new talent there

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,061 ✭✭✭Ohmeha

I'm happy with the Nabers pick, I think all of top 3 QBs have bust potential that giving up picks to move up for and clearly McCarthy wasn't considered to their guy despite alot talk he was going to picked at 6

Really glad we didn't reach and take McCarthy. He could be good but at #6, we would have DJ situation all over again.

Could see us taking Rattler though. Would like to take OL help in Round 2.

Woukd have loved to have gotten Maye but realistically Pats were never doing business with Giants. They were offered a serious package but what’s out there is effectively if Daboll & OConnell wanted him so bad he must be really good!
We’ve gotten some firepower at least now. More attention on Nabers might free up Hyatt too.
Just need Jones to jump in his time machine and head back to September 2022!

    Giants are on Hard Knocks.

Just booked flights and hotel for Munich this morning, just have to hope I get a ticket for the game now 😁

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,991 ✭✭✭wawaman

what kind of ball park did that set you back!? Thinking of doing the same

  • Registered Users Posts: 944 ✭✭✭tgdaly

Return flights to Munich with Aer Lingus was €156 (the most basic fare where you have to check in your 10kg bag rather than bringing it on board). Flying out Friday coming back Monday

Hotel was €335 for the 3 nights but you'd probably get somewhere cheaper again (I included breakfast in mine

I assume there will be some form of Fan Experience around where you could watch the game in a worst case scenario. Finger crossed for tickets now. Enjoy! Saw the Gmen twice in London. Haven't really looked into this one yet. Have friends around Munich and with German trains, you don't necessarily need to be direct in Munich.

  • Registered Users Posts: 944 ✭✭✭tgdaly

I was in Munich last year (not for a game, just around when the Christmas markets are on) and had a great time there, said if was a place I'd go back to, so definitely won't be a bad experience if I can't get the ticket

Is Hard Knocks: Offseason with the New York Giants going to be on Game Pass or NFL Network? Haven’t been able to find first episode

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,991 ✭✭✭wawaman

wasn’t much in it really. Main takeaways were Schoen still has faith in Jones and didn’t think Barkley would get paid

Anyone as excited as I am seeing the Nabers training camp footage? If first impressions are anything to go by I can’t wait to see him get some minutes in preseason

Throw it up there and he’ll come back down with it!

Might even make Danny Dimes look respectable 🙏

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,991 ✭✭✭wawaman

I think we need a new QB 😩

    2 INTs for Jones already

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,991 ✭✭✭wawaman

  • Registered Users Posts: 31 Gilly43

Sweet Jeebus, that throwaway pass as he was about to get sacked in the end zone was awful. And then he throws a couple of beauts to Hyatt & Nabers…… his decision making is just so bad. He’s 5 years in now……I don’t see it coming at this stage

The worry is we might just be a bit too strong to get a top 5 pick in ‘25 to get a top prospect at QB

Nabers is a baller. Like the look of the draft picks so far but still v early

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,991 ✭✭✭wawaman

it hasn’t even taken until half time of the first game of the season for all optimism for the season to disappear

  • Registered Users Posts: 944 ✭✭✭tgdaly

Sam Darnold is now a better qb than Daniel Jones 😂. And seeing how well Saquon played for the Eagles the other night also... Sigh

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,991 ✭✭✭wawaman

if the crowd are booing already, drew lock will be the QB in a game or 2

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,052 ✭✭✭KrustyUCC

    Soul crushing first game

    Same do do different year

    Jeez that was awful

Did they even do anything all summer?

Daboll could only come up with 3 pts as a play caller

    Jones is Jones

    Just pure awful

Stealing a living with his second contract

We have a great ability to make uselsss QB look HOF against us

Darnold could have made a cup of tea before throwing it was that easy

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,071 ✭✭✭boccy23

    100% to all of this.

    Nothing worked. As in, nothing.

Best you could say is that Nabers looks as advertised. I don't think the O-line was desperate. I think Jones was desperate and the play calling lead to some awful plays.

A long season is in store. Can Schoen make it through? I think if you look at his now 3 draft classes, you have to have serious questions about him.

A total restart seems to be heading to 1925 Giants Drive again. Does Mara need to step aside?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,052 ✭✭✭KrustyUCC

Don't think that will happen for quite a while re Mara

Daboll and Schoen will def come under pressure unless they can turn something around

Daboll made another rod for his own back with when he took over play calling

Schoen will be judged on his drafts which at the moment are not looking too well

The miss on Neal will be particularly hard to take

    Can't miss on a top 7 pick

Soul crushing stuff. We’re wasting the best years of Andrew Thomas & Sexy Dexy. Early days for Nabers but looks the business and he must be scratching his head at the **** show he’s wandered into.

Right enough, seeing Saquon on Fri really should have given us a foresight into what was to come yesterday

Dunno do we just do a Russell Wilson and cut our losses. Jones continues on the road to nowhere…..

Bill Simmons reckons Bill Belichick by mid season.

Couldn't see him wanting the job

    Nice fantasy selection though

  • Registered Users Posts: 944 ✭✭✭tgdaly

At least Nabers seems to be as good as advertised.

We just couldn't seem to defend on 3rd down on that first half, some shocking plays.

Gano injury could cost us the game if it stays close

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,991 ✭✭✭wawaman

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,052 ✭✭✭KrustyUCC

Going to be a very long year

Daboll getting slated for chancing Gano and not have a back up plan

Didn't learn from the Jets game last year

I think Daboll will be gone mid season

  • Registered Users Posts: 944 ✭✭✭tgdaly

One positive about the Giants being crap (and the Panthers) is that I was finally able to get a Munich ticket. They've been quite frequent on the ticket exchange since last night 😂

The misery started early today 😂

  • Registered Users Posts: 944 ✭✭✭tgdaly

Some turnaround. Nabers is a boss. Hopefully more of the same in the second half!

At least we won't be 0-17

    Great to get a win
