I agree and it’s as it should be. In the real world as an employee in a private company I have to declare any gifts received while doing business on behalf of my employer.

I actually thought the crackdown was on outside employment I.e. Lottie being paid to advertise Toyotas.

It just shows though how many of these lot are coasting along on free handouts. It’s easy being glam and the life of every party if your makeup, your clobber and the car that got you there are all given to you.

It makes you really wonder how much these lot are taking in on free stuff when faced with a choice to give up gifts or loose your job and they choose gifts. Hopefully the lifestyle dries up fur Doiresnn now she’s out of the public eye.

Regarding instagram followers, you can bet that a lot of people follow them due to their looks. It's a visual tool, so following Laura Fox on Instagram is completely different to listening to Laura through the radio. Hence the number of followers will never translate to a higher listenership.

What are the tax implications of the freebies. Say I get company X to do up my house inexchange for shout outs on my socials. Or if a bank offer me a lower intrest rate for shout outs on da socials. How do I go about declaring it and paying tax on it?

I completely agree, these policies were in all of the semi-states I have worked for over the years. Why were RTE any different?
