Pitch looks like an absolute nightmare to bat on to be fair

  • Registered Users Posts: 25,472 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

not even putting away the occasional bad delivery…bowling has been good but jeez.

Jeeeez, this pitch. Pathetic that international sportsmen should have to put up with such nonsense unbelievable , unplayable and inconsistent bounce in the sports World Cup. Fukkk

Pitch is absolutely pathetic,Irish medical team on now giving pain killers and treating hand injuries.

    3 down. Up against it.

ah the inconsistent bounce on this pitch is ridiculous

  • Registered Users Posts: 25,472 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

be nice to think we might post 130-140 and just hope we pick up a couple of early wickets. Not that we’ll win but be nice if the scoreboard had a hint of respectability.

As I type another down. Ffs….. mannn it’s the hope that kills ya, not the hope of victory but of a nice competitive, savvy good performance.

It is and dangerous too. Ireland's batsmen can't be blamed for this against one of the best sides in the world.

Pretty much a nightmare start to the tournament on a dodgy pitch which is almost impossible to face against this Indian bowling.

At least they get this India game out of the way early.

Have we passed the record low score yet?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,222 ✭✭✭VillaMad

In World Cups, Netherlands scored 39 against Sri Lanka in 2014 so just about.

Yes the pitch is poor but this is one of the most stupid performances I've ever seen in 40 years watching cricket. This is a 120 pitch yet the batsmen are going out playing shots as if it's a flat track against medium pacers. It's absolute insanity, what's the strategy? Who's plan is this, who is telling number 6,7,8 to just go a play as you like and don't mind the score. These clowns deserve to be humiliated. They're not trying to win

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 12,782 Mod ✭✭✭✭riffmongous

    That's some relief.

Another one gone now, there's still 10 overs left and we are playing rubbish shots and running like headless chickens

  • Registered Users Posts: 246 ✭✭nice bit of green

    horrendous.

  • Registered Users Posts: 25,472 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

can’t blame the pitch or credit the bowler for that load of rubbish by Barry McCarthy…. 😵

    Catching practice.

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,064 ✭✭✭✭y0ssar1an22

did they even appeal for that stumping that they went to 3rd umpire?

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,473 ✭✭✭MFPM

I thought today would be tough but this is abject by Ireland.

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,064 ✭✭✭✭y0ssar1an22

they should have assessed the pitch better and adjusted accordingly. sterling and balbirnie at the top especially.

Isn't it good to know that we've just extended Malan's contract!

That four from Little at least beats Ireland's lowest ever T20I score of 68 against the West Indies in 2010.

Certainly looks a little easier to score now on the pitch as the ball gets older. If only some of the middle order didn't throw away their wicket.

  • Registered Users Posts: 25,472 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

hopefully we can put up a three figure score……. Something while not quite respectable, not totally pathetic…

Nope, innings ends with a pathetic run out….. no way was there even close to a second run available there….idiocy.

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,064 ✭✭✭✭y0ssar1an22

disappointing to end on a run out. 97 all out

  • Registered Users Posts: 246 ✭✭nice bit of green

    Made a mess of that.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 12,782 Mod ✭✭✭✭riffmongous

Run out off a free hit...

Fair play to White and Little for at least dragging us to a score, 4 overs wasted in the end though

  • Registered Users Posts: 25,472 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

We had no answer to their attack but Bumrah murdered us…. 3 overs…just 6 runs conceded , 2 wickets taken

Bowled out in 16 overs, 2 of those…. Maiden overs, at a T20 World Cup.

  • Registered Users Posts: 729 ✭✭✭wicorthered

If the middle order kept their heads they could've got 120. Criminal being bowled out with 4 overs left. Tbh Dockrell and Adair didn't look like they fancied it and just wanted to get out, no conviction about their knocks. No way in the world Dockrell is a better player than Moor or Pretorius, he's not in the team for cricket reasons........

Big big big issues around Stirling. He's finished and there's no one out there to replace him.

  • Registered Users Posts: 335 ✭✭StormForce13

I've been thinking that about Stirling for the past couple of years. But every time that the writing is on the wall he manages to produce a big innings that keeps him on the team for a while longer. Hopefully he'll do it again in the remaining games - then announce his retirement after we exit the tournament.

  • Registered Users Posts: 25,472 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

    Dockrell’s batting averages

    ODIs… 23.12

    T20i’s….19.72

Which has always left me wondering why on earth so much a ridiculous level of hype has surrounded him.

Now we start dropping catches, Balbernie was it ? Yep 😒
