    Just an update on this. I removed the centre console and took out the parking brake switch assembly which includes the auto hold, drive mode and seat heater buttons. Relatively easy to take out. Doesn't look like it can be repaired.

    Got the part number from it. Rang main dealer and ordered it, €370 including VAT.

    Found a second hand one on eBay for €200 (with more buttons, but think it may have worked), but for that money didn't want to take a punt on it.

    I had contacted some breakers both here and in the north, but no luck. They had Hybrid Ioniq's but no EV's. The Hybrid's have a standard gearstick type selector and a different parking brake switch.

    Do you have a photo of the switch when removed? I'm curious if it could be 3d printed or something cause €370 would leave a lot of wiggle room for someone to print one and make plenty of money for what I assume is a pretty small part!

    Picked up a 191 ioniq 28kw on Friday and enjoying it lots so far. Brought the kids for ice cream today and left the car turned on while we ate in the car. Is this the right approach to avoid draining the 12v?

    Does the car turn off itself after a while when sitting inside like an ICE or does it stay on indefinitely?

    It will just stay "on" but EVs don't have the concept of the car idling like an ice so it's not using any power.

    My ioniq 38 did start sending me messages on bluelink that the car was on and parked every 15 minutes. Not fully sure why it does

    I'm not talking about idling an ICE but the concept of turning off the electronics. Most cars would have a timeout on this in order to not drain the battery. With the Ioniq, I'm just wondering if you can sit in car for prolonged periods without doing anything and as long as the big battery is good you wont kill the small one.

    Yes, I turn off heating cooling system.by pressing off and turn off headlights and radio. Press park rather than leave in drive to prevent accidental movement. I do this when unloading or loading a lot of stuff or hoovering the car etc. to prevent risk of 12 volt drain.

    Yeah as I mentioned bluelink messages you every 15 minutes but the car stays on. At least til over 45 minutes anyways that it didn't shut off

    My auxiliary battery saver is starting to come on more regularly now.

    Is it still 10 times in a row maximum it will activate and will I get a warning when it gets to that point.

    Will need a new 12 volt battery i assume - can it just be taken out and a new one put in without drama.

    I am not sure on the 10 times. The behaviour may have changed between software updates as some of the updates topped up.the battery more often just in case.

    You can just swap out the battery but beware it's an unusual small type held at the bottom rather than the top and bigger sizes may not fit. Ask at any motor factors and they can order you one if not in stock. It's worth it for peace of mind.

    Usual body damage, crash damage. Find out service history and what warranty still applies. Ideally use a phone app and odb dongle to read battery health but it will probably be 100%. If you buy the car you will probably need a new 12 volt battery every few years and keep a small jump pack in glove box. You can update the software on the radio yourself to latest version. The 2 rear wheel speed sensors tend to go at around that mileage and are around 500 euro each including labor to get replaced. Check if they were already replaced in service history. Check tyres for wear, may be good haggling point. If importing into ROI the range to empty cannot be changed to km on main display but can be done on radio display. There were various recalls so if you buy the car send the Vin to Hyundai Ireland and they can check which recalls may have not been done. The real.workd worst case range at high speed in winter may be as low as 120km, (60km from home) so if that works they are great car. Try to not overpay when buying as people are having trouble shifting used EVs so haggle hard.

    Yes, would be fine. But very much overkill, that Noco unit is designed for starting a big diesel engine. I have one for the boat. I would think that a smaller, lighter and cheaper one would do fine for opening and powering up an EV.

    Yes, just be sure to charge it for 12-24 hours before putting it in the car and every 6 months or so. There are cheaper ones. I find it handy for jumping other people's cars mostly!

    I have a 172 - about 90k kms on it.

    Recently I've become very sensitive to a (very light) "flapping" sensation when I put my foot down on the accelerator, I'm hearing a 'throttle' type sound too.
    Is this the reduction gear fluid change thing that I've read about?

    Not changing the gearbox fluid can increase the likelihood of a bearing or multiple parts starting to wear out. Increased noise especially under hard acceleration or regenerative breaking may be an early symptom and it may get worse/louder over time. There is a "back street" garage in Arklow that says they have a cheaper repair kit (for Kona but ioniq 28 may be the same).

    It could be lots of other things but a gearbox oil change can't hurt.

    Just had my NCT for 191 ioniq today. It passed but under OBD faults it showed up POC17 electric drive motor A position sensor. It's also listed as an emissions type fault which is curious..

    Anyone any idea if this is a cause for concern? Only bought the car 1 month ago with 12 month warranty so may bring it back to dealer..

    I would say dealer will fob you off. Unless you get an odb reader yourself and even then they may find nothing wrong. You often need specialised garage level readers for Hyundai cars. I would say there is nothing worth checking if no fault on dash. Maybe mention at next service.

    Thanks, yes from the bit of digging I've being doing on Internet it doesn't seem to be a problem and sometimes these faults can show up. I'll mention it at next service.

    12 volt was changed last week.

    But when I fired up the car to check main battery percentage this morning.

    The battery saver warning popped up.

    What is next port of call in terms of further diagnosing the issue.

    Original issue was the battery saver popping up on the dash all the time.

    Changing the 12 volt solved it for about a week.

    Went straight to a 12 volt replacement as the 12 volt battery that was in it up to last week was in it when i bought the car nearly 3 years ago.

    Edit the car never actually failed to start but I understood that the battery saver warning popping up on dash all the time was a sign of issues.

    It's also been used during the week with 4 or 5 x 43 km journeys and one 75 km round trip.

    My 12v battery is about halfway through its 6th year (191 car still with its original) and I've been getting the battery saver warning for years maybe once or twice a week. I wouldn't worry about it tbh.

    I have the 38 so might not be exactly the same, but I replaced the battery in March and I see the battery saver light come on fairly frequently too, I think it's just part of normal operations I've had no issues with the battery since I replaced it

    Have a 171 Ioniq since new. Still on original 12v battery. Regularly get the battery top up message and often see one of the three blue charging lights on dash flashing (while not plugged in) indicating that it's charging the 12v while parked. Message is just for info and not a warning. It means car is doing what it's supposed to do. I have a small battery jump start pack in glove box as advised here many times. I've helped out about 15 ICE vehicles start at this stage. It'll probably be flat the day I need it myself ☺️

    any change in "how often and how long" your journeys are in recent times?

    Can impact how much charge it's getting through normal use.
    I think seeing it every single day I'd start to get nervous but generally do see it a couple of times every few weeks and wouldn't be worried.
