    When I tried to order the 2GB package online, it wouldn't let me. I then called and tried to order it over the phone, but they told me that I could only order the 2GB package in-store, which I did.

    After reading this thread, I then discovered that you need to order the Sercomm SFP Transceiver separately (at a cost of €75) to avail of the full 2GB speed. 😂

    I'm very glad to have super-fast broadband now, but I feel having 2GB is excessive for our needs. I was thinking about downgrading to 1GB. I don't think that's an option until 6 months are up. I also just learned that since I signed the contract in-store, I can't avail of the 14-day cooling-off period, which only applies to purchases made over the phone or online.

    Just to follow up on this. I called Vodafone about downgrading, and they couldn't have been more helpful. All sorted and downgraded to a more sensible 1Gbps including the discount for the first six months. The 2Gbps can wait for a few years!

    I know I’m probably going of track here but can you tell me if you have a 1Gig Vodafone broadband is it wifi6 ? I got rid of the gigabox and swapped it for a Synology WRX 560 but it’s only showing Wifi4.

    Hi folks! Just jumping on board here because I'm a little frustrated at this point.

    Recently upgraded to the 2000mbps plan with Vodafone as Fibre became available in my area. A technician came out, fit everything and provided us with a Gigabox. We were told to order the SFP and did - but discovered that the SFP provided by Vodafone doesn't work, and our speeds appear to be stuck at around 200 - 300 mbps.

    Based on this thread, it looks like we should have been given a Gigabox Plus instead - is that accurate? I'm going to be contacting Vodafone tomorrow for further clarification and to determine if our plan was actually upgraded or not, but would really find that bit of clarity helpful!

    That's correct, the Gigabox is only gigabit.

    You need the correct box for 2Gb but may be other issues with your connection if you only get 200/300mbps, are you testing over Wi-Fi or a laptop/desktop wired by Ethernet to the router?

    With the older box you should still get 500Mb (if accidently provisioned on lowest profile) or 1Gb

    We would like to switch from Virgin 500mb to Vodafone 500mb when our contract ends in August. Currently our connection comes in via the old UPC coaxial cable beside the TV in the living room. We don't have fibre near the house. Does anyone know if Vodafone will re-use this connector and just send us on a new router/modem, or will they do some of their own work and start drilling holes etc?

    We've tested both - the 200 / 300 speeds are what I'm getting via a wired connection, while I'm getting closer to 350 - 400 over the wireless.

    I'm just after calling up Vodafone for them to send me out a gigabox+ and it arrived today. I wanted to put it in between the ONT and my UDMP so that the VF modem can handle all the PPPOE stuff resulting in faster speeds. On the admin panel I don't see an obvious way to turn on bridge mode. Has anyone figured out how to do it yet? I remember when I was with virgin media you had to call them to enable the option on the router. Would this be a similar case?

    Can you actually get FTTH with any of the other providers? Even if its Vodafone over Virgin Media's wholesale network, this will be via VM's new fibre network rather than their old coaxial network (which you currently have). It will involve running a fibre optic cable from the nearest distribution point, drilling a hole in your wall and terminating the fibre into an ONT which your new router will connect to

    If you mean fibre cables to the house? Currently no, all through the VM coaxial as far as I can see (fairly old house). I wonder how vodafone would run a fibre optic cable to the house. But according to Comreg we can get 'Fibre' through anyone using the VM network now, no Eir or Siro.

    Hi all, would like to leave my experience on this as I have the 2gb plan with Vodafone. I ran into issues with getting the Gigabox+ to negotiate at anything higher than 1gb even with the official Vodafone SFP+ adapter. My setup works as follows:

    Fiber line → ONT → (30-40metre run into house) → Gigabox+ → UDM Pro (Double NAT)

    I'm annoyed by the lack of Bridge mode on the Gigabox+ and the issues I need to resolve include:

    1. Removing Double NAT (either through DMZ on Gigabox+ or pluggint ONT line directly into UDMP)
    2. Getting the full 2gb speeds (UDMP refused to negotiate at all when I tried plugging ONT line directly in, maybe I need to investigate the PPPOE with username and password first)
    3. Ensuring that the static IP address works on the UDMP even without the use of the Gigabox.

    Ideally I remove the Gigabox altogether as my entire network is wired and I don't use wifi. This would fix double nat and hopefully 2gb issue if the UDMP would negotiate it.

    Getting onto Vodafone about this has been a nightmare and they always promise a callback which never happens.

    If anyone has any input on the above, it is much appreciated.

    You don't need the gigabox. Remove it and plug directly the into the UDM Pro 10gb sfp+ Port.
    On the UDM, under Internet, edit the WAN port,

    set the VLAN to 10.

    set the IPv4 configuration to PPPoE

    set the username to: [your router mac address]@vfieftth.ie

    Set the password to: broadband

    I actually tried this today. I had success with using the PPPoE sign in. However I could only get negotiating using Port 9 which is only 1gb rj45. Whenever I connected to the 10gb SFP+ using official Unifi SFP+ rj45 adapter it wouldn't negotiate any link. I even tested with another switch which could verify the ONT line was 10gb, however no link on port 10 for some reason.

    Any suggestions on this one?

    did you turn off the ont for at least 5 mins? It caches the previous info so its recommended to completely power it down for 5 mins. Have all your other connections powered on.

    Also for vodafone..you only need vodafone@vodafone.ie

    yes I did try power cycling all devices. But have you got it to work using the SFP+ port and an RJ45 adapter? I can only get it working in port 9 no matter what I try.

    sorry i'm on the 1gb package.. I should have made that clear..just fyi its not just power cycling but leaving it fully powered down for at least 5 mins to clear out the previous connections.

    Funny, yes I have the latest version and automatic updating set. I am using the official Unifi SFP+ adapter to rj45. I can't get any negotiating at all on Port 10 when connected to ONT line from Vodafone. Can you explain your setup more?

    This is my config under Internet. I did clone the Vodafone router mac, but don't think this is needed.

    No, no negotiation lights when plugged into 10gb SFP+ port. However it works in the 1gb rj45 port no issues. If I plug the ONT line into a switch it will negotiate at 10gb no problem. Problem occurs any time I try to route ONT directly into an SFP+ adapter and I have tried multiple different types.

    Sounds like the SFP+ connector or cable might be the issue. Do you have another one (even 1gb SFP+ adapter) that you can try?

    All I can do is confirm that it definitely works for me.
