Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

When do we reckon stage times will be released?

  • Registered Users Posts: 306 ✭✭Peesh89

Looks like they released stage times on the 9th last year, so a week before. Maybe we'll get them tomorrow!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 580 ✭✭✭whelzer

That would be great. Get the planning started. Apart from first set if names I mentioned back in the thread, I'm really looking forward to Orbital(again, was as vicar street recently), Dmitry From Paris, Thievery Corp, Catching flies and loads more!

Is it much of a trek from the car park to the camping area?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,829 ✭✭✭Toast

Assuming the same layout as last year, depends where in the car park and where in the campsite you go to. It's maybe a 10 minute walk through a forest trail from the bottom of the car park to the festival entrance with gear . Was mostly slow due to it being a bit boggy and others so could be worse with worse weather. Fancy camping is immediately at the entrance. Not all that long to the rest of the camping from there.

Cannot wait to see Richie Hawtin upend Glendalough on Saturday night… Unreal recent mix of his if anyone is interested, proper techno. Helena Hauff, Cailin and Sunil all on the same night one after another is gonna be something

Was there a festival merchandise stall there last year, wouldn't mind picking up a t-shirt of this year's edition.

There was indeed - also doubled as a lost and found area if I recall correctly, around main stage area

Anyone making a clashfinder when the times come out? I did it one year. Not sure if there's a point anymore in the era of apps.

Clashfinder print offs on paper have come in very handy later on the festival weekend when phones are dead more than once

  • Registered Users Posts: 128 ✭✭Ruanmcg

I always laminate the timetable in work on the Thursday before a fest. It's nice to not have to use your phone at all- go full analog.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 352 ✭✭TenPicnics

Last year the app was more or less useless from the Friday night, so the clashfinder print off is probably the best option. Apparently signal strength was the problem last year. Personally I can't stand spending much time looking at my phone, reading notifications and all the festival app-related stuff at festivals, so paper works grand for me. You get to hear about changes to the schedule from talking to people, or being with someone who uses the app.

Attn Saturday Day ticket holders - Myself and one other person have booked a Taxi from Bray Train Station to the festival grounds leaving at 1.20pm on Saturday 22nd. If anyone is interested in sharing the journey PM me. We can take up to 3 additional people. We have been quoted €60. Thanks

    Any weather outlook yet 😎

Current forecast is highs of 18° with showers but it seems to be changing every couple of hours. It will probably be mid next week before they have an accurate forecast.

Bummer not to have stage times yet… was definitely out earlier last year.

I'm behind on my listening prep ahead of the festival. Looking at Orbital setlists, they've been doing a tour heavily based on two of their old albums but reverted to the more of a festival set for Bearded Theory. I'm going to go on the assumption that they'll play something similar at BTP.

Are we thinking Orbital will play late night Saturday - say 11.30 to 1 - likely clashing with either Hauff or Hawtin?

Seems likely to me given we have Romy and Jessie Ware on Saturday as well. Both of them + Orbital are all mainstage, right? Romy is hardly in the tent?

The app looks like it's being updated so I'd expect the stage times soon.

Site Map just went up, and quite a few changes from last year

Less walking from stages to Glamping hopefully.

Looks like they lost The Big Romance stage.

Devo as that stage last year was one my favourites I’ve experienced for electronic music… hopefully the cirrus garden is something similar as it’s in the same spot

  • Registered Users Posts: 956 ✭✭✭grudgehugger

Looks largely the same as last year I think?!

Just with a rebrand / redesign of the Big Romance area?

  • Registered Users Posts: 956 ✭✭✭grudgehugger

I was commenting on the festival site only - campsites etc. may have moved

  • Registered Users Posts: 48 Paddez

I'm trying to figure out how the Main Stage is orientated 🫠

I'm assuming it's pointed down/south? As there's not a huge amount of space north.

Last year it was oriented towards Selective Memory - so maybe less sound-bleeding towards the tent.

Yeah, I have a feeling Cirrus Garden is basically a rebranded Big Romance.

Not sure what Club Cu-Cú is.

Take from the Website, it's a Woov app, but the link here ties it to Beyond the pale:

Club Cu-Cu is the wooded area where they had a few DJ’s on late night last year I think

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,658 ✭✭✭✭bodhrandude

Strange it isn't Beyond the Pale app at all just Google? How do I get stage times or breakdowns from that?

Will just have to rely on a clash finder when it becomes available.

    It worked through Safari browser.

cause it’s financial and resource burden to get your own app approved on apple/android stores so they use an pre existing app that does what you need but for multiple smaller festivals

  • Registered Users Posts: 41 FriendlySpider

Just seen you can't bring drink into the arena this year. When someone asked why they hid the comments.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,267 ✭✭✭Fanirish

cause they have bulmers/absolut running the bars this year and they require such clauses in the contract

There was lots of talk last year that there was no free flow but I was never checked or stopped from carrying any amount of cans.

That said, last year, lots of people took up the offers to buy a slab of cans from white hag and collect on site. I guess they could afford to be lenient on entry then as many people were already consuming their beer.

  • Registered Users Posts: 102 ✭✭Landers11

I hope that they don't enforce it. Could be the end of BTP if they do with the return of B&S next year which allow free flow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,267 ✭✭✭Fanirish

B&s ain’t returning and this is very likely last year of BTP

  • Registered Users Posts: 128 ✭✭Ruanmcg

assuming (maybe wishfully so) that it won’t be enforced, if it is it would totally change the vibe… Hopefully they won’t just think **** it we’ll try and recoup as much cash as we can if this really is the last year. Because I’d certainly never buy a ticket for a small festival that restricts where you can bring cans. And before someone says it’s already been advertised as much, the assumption by most punters is definitely that it’s free flow

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,658 ✭✭✭✭bodhrandude

Oh yes they will, B&S that is, they don't give up that easy.

Fingers Crossed. It is (was?) a lovely festival.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,267 ✭✭✭Fanirish

it won’t be returning in a recognisable form to what people are familiar with and not in that location.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,648 ✭✭✭RINO87

Curious as to why this would be the last year of BTP?? I know you mentioned sales were not up to scratch, but is it not worth pulling out the stops with this one to help improve the reputation yadda yadda, instead of sort of throwing in the towel.....or is there a major sponsor or the site owner or something walking away?

On B&S too... didn't they sign a long term agreement with the Ballinlough estate just before covid? I know that means nothing if the organisers literally cannot put on the event, just wondering if I remembered that right.

Anyone know where abouts is best to collect people who have day tickets? Have drawn the short straw and have to collect my partner and her mate on the Saturday night. Not looking forward to that drive at 1am.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,020 ✭✭✭hold my beer

Is it a 1am finish for day trippers? Read somewhere that music going until 3am Fri & Sat.

  • Registered Users Posts: 41 FriendlySpider

So sent them a message on Instagram asking and they replied that there is no drink allowed into the arena areas and that's its only allowed in the campsites. Such a shame they only mentioned this one week before!

It could well be! I just said 1am is the latest I'm going to collect them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 118 ✭✭jellybeano

Annamoe entrance (Gate 1) seems to be for drop-offs, buses, campervans etc. Would they use this entrance for day-trippers? The Oldbridge entrance (Gate 2) is marked as the main entrance on the new site map.

Either way, I’d imagine you could nearly drive all the way up through whichever carpark and collect them close enough to the whichever entrance. I suppose it depends on how they manage the flow of day trippers and wristband access to campsites and arena etc. on the day.

  • Registered Users Posts: 102 ✭✭Landers11

Looks like they are deleting messages from people asking too. Still thinking it will be barely enforced.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,829 ✭✭✭Toast

Probably should be spending that time moderating the chat on the app. Fair amount of spam messages there.

Going for a day trip on Saturday..is there any timetable out??
