Ballincollig, Douglas, Nemo Rangers, Carrigaline, Glanmire are the Premier clubs at Minor level football in the county. The entire county squad should be selected from those clubs to have any chance

There are others, Barrs, Eire Og, Mallow etc but 1 of the Rebel Og divisions contain the majority of the above. The need to have 23 different clubs represented is just nuts.

There will always be a star in a smaller club of course but I reckon at least 10 players should be starting from the teams above.

As expected, Cork well in control, playing well in nasty enough conditions.

    ht Cork 3-09 v 1-00 Laois

Feel sorry for Laois ladies as they are totally outclassed today.

Slightly annoyed to see Leo O'Connor say Offaly beaten by a more physical team last year in the U20. Not really giving that Cork team credit. I thought that at the time too.

Cork were criticised for years for not embracing the physical side of the game. I was thrilled to see that team put it up to other teams physically. Even better to hear all the wailing and moaning after the final. Grow up lads.

Those Offaly boys will see what physicality is all about when they come up against some of the teams in Leinster next year.

Well we play them next as well………..!!!!!

True. I was in Dublin yesterday and met a few offaly fans after their win. They're having some time of it the last 7 days or so.

It'd be good to have a strong offaly back... next year!

Some beating to give the Laois ladies 6-13 v 1-05

Some wayward shooting meant it really should have been more one sided- if possible

Cork moved the ball quickly throughout which was great to see.

Subs got a good run out too.

Munster final went as expected today and its incredible what Limerick have achieved. They are a truly great team but the differences between the teams are a lot closer than they used to be. Clare disappointed but Limerick were not blowing them away either.

It felt like Shane O Donnell was isolated all the time when the ball came near him and he had Limerick players all around him. I said it in the main thread that to beat them, you have to get goals or at least be a goal threat throughout. Clare get one goal in the first half and it was a draw at half time. They missed another chance that wasn't hit very well.

The reason I talk about this is obviously from our point of view. It looks like a Clare v Kilkenny semi with Cork v Limerick in the other. Limerick will want another crack at us but it felt like that win against them showed us that we can beat them in a very tight game. I think we will improve now with the games coming up and there is more gears we can get to. We are the top or at least among the top scorers in this Championship so thats a huge plus. Our bench is very strong and that with our fitness levels/pace gives us an advantage as we have continually finished games very well this year. The only negative is that we have a poor keeper who is prone to howlers.

Looking forward now to Offaly next week!

Any idea when tickets for offaly go on sale? Also does anyone know can young kids go into terrace for matches such as cork v offaly?

Try Supervalu. Ticketmaster are just being annoying about it.

I risked the shop because I wanted a physical ticket to give to someone and also to avoid tm fees

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,656 ✭✭✭✭ACitizenErased

Yeah there's plenty on ticketmaster still. Was lucky to get some at 3pm so I'm sorted

“The selections are made at the start of the year, and you’re kind of guessing or estimating what the standings of the round robin will be like when Cork will be playing Limerick — there was a chance that game could have been a dead rubber, people didn’t know how important that game would be,”

How is this possible? Sure Cork lost their first two games and it still wasn't a dead rubber. Even had both won their first two gaems it wouldn't be the case would it?

Yeah that’s such a bullshit claim. You could write off any game after round 2 on that basis.

Edit; let’s take it at face value. Looking at it in January when games are being picked.
At that time you’d have expected a Cork over Waterford win and probably a Clare win over Limerick in round 1.
Round 2 a Limerick win over Tipp and the Cork Clare game would have been tough to call. Round 3 - Waterford Tipp tough to call.

Based on pre season expectations the Cork v Limerick game could reasonably have been expected as a scenario where the winner effectively seals top 3 and the loser must win their final game to go through.

Sorry Jarlath but your hypothesis doesn’t stand up.

Munster match is probably not helping and this game will be over before half time

It's not a great location from a Cork viewpoint. Footbal game will be fairly interesting, hopefully competitive throughout.

Hurlers should hopefully get the job done early and get the subs in.

Offaly crowd aren't exactly snapping tickets up.

    Team named.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,937 ✭✭✭JanuarySnowstor

Match will be a sellout or close to it!! No stand tickets left and terrace selling well. 2 more days to go. Trains also selling out

Full strength hurling team just named, and rightly so! This match should be everyone's focus. Afterall the loser goes out
