I know the BMW 5 series from around 2005-2010 had timing chain issues (e60)

Were these sorted with the next model (F10/11)

Issues as I understand it centre around the n47 and less so n57 diesel engines. Various adjustments and tweaks were made notably in 2012 but there are still cases until 2014 when the engine was replaced with I think the B47

    If you are talking Diesel

Yeah, now that I think about it, asking in regard to petrol and diesel

is 2014 onward relatively ok for both?

No, the timing chain issue was around for the entire production life of the N47 engine. This engine was only phased out of production in 2017/2018 and was used across various BMW models and later Toyota models too. In the F10/F11 model 5 Series it would have been present right up until late 2014 or early 2015.

Thank you! Which bmw 5 series would not having timing chain issues, like below?

    Diesel model from 2016 onwards?

    Petrol models for 2018 onwards?

Diesel model from 2016 should have the B47 engine. These don't tend to suffer from timing chain problems.

Petrol model from 2018 would be the newer G30 model and most are the plug in hybrid 530e.
