I missed out on an interview by a couple of points. This is a strange message for sure. Surely I can’t be rejected again for the same job haha

Does that mean you were just outside the top 10?

Some people in the 100s still got interviews (later down the line) according to others who've applied for positions like these in the past.

It will be interesting to see how everyone's order of merit changes. Hard to know if the message yesterday means that there were applications that were completely missed first time around meaning more people applied than initially thought… or if the order of merit was entirely incorrect and everyone needs to be reassessed.

I got a message to say that they regret to say that I didn’t get to the next stage of the competition.

I asked for feedback, and I had more than doubled the required score in 4/5 areas and in the fifth was just 3 points away. So I didn’t get a place on the order of merit, even in the 100s.

Ah I see. Sorry to hear that. For people who did get through, only the top 10 of the order of merit were invited for an interview so there's 100s who did make it through to the next stage but didn't get an interview (yet).

How did you know the number @keane10, I apologise if you explained earlier in the thread. I got through and I'm listed 31st on the Order of Merit list. I've no idea how the process works exactly. From what I can see, the 30 people ahead of me have the option of taking a position or passing. I know it's for the service in general and these recruitment drives seem to happen on an annual basis, but is there an idea of how quickly the Communications XO positions are filled? Well done to everyone who applied, by the way. It's all new to me, so I'm a bit in the dark as to how long the process takes. My interview process took place with a moderator or a chairperson who oversaw the interview. There were two communications officers or people in more senior comms roles who asked me questions on a variety of areas of expertise, and there was a third person in the background taking notes. I quickly understood that they were scoring me on my areas of expertise. For anybody reading this and preparing for future interviews, approach it knowing that they will ask you particular questions about your skill set and expertise. They will score you actively on that, looking for answers that demonstrate you can perform the specific job or function required.

New messages out today about the revised Order of Merit.

I don't expect huge changes as my place in the Order of Merit went up, but only by 2 places 😂

It seems the first 17 are now called for interview, whereas it was the first 10 originally.

Anyone ever done a presentation exercise before? Do you have to do it in one sitting without logging off? Are you timed?

    Hello everyone,

Anyone hear back on this competition? Wonder how many were called for first batch interview?

  • Registered Users Posts: 730 ✭✭✭durthacht

Yes, I have been called for interview and I was in the mid 20s of the revised Order Of Merit.

  • Registered Users Posts: 730 ✭✭✭durthacht

I think you don't have to do it in a single sitting.

Thanks I actually had an interview and was panelled. But not sure what that means or how many were panelled/ how many positions are available. Have not heard anything since so was just wondering if it takes long to get through the panel. Thanks for your response

You do the presentations in your own time and email it to them before a certain date if I remember correctly

For anyone who was called for interview, was it a competency based interview or based on the new capability framework?

    Thanks in advance!!
