Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Scotland must fancy their chances against this Hungary team. Very poor defence. They haven't a hope against this Swiss team.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,180 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

That was an excellent chance for Hungary to reduce the deficit to 2-1. Varga with a header wide, bad miss. Just get it on target and it was in.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,180 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

Varga has got this one though. Varga couldn't miss, brilliant cross by Szoboszlai.

Varga converts the more difficult chance

    Game on

Shane Lowry coming on for Hungary!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,462 ✭✭✭Acosta

The sooner Hungary and their scummy fans are sent packing, the better.

Lucky enough his strapping didn't trip him up!

Contrary to what he thinks himself, a career in comedy doesn't beckon for Kenny Cunningham.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,851 ✭✭✭✭callaway92

Hungary a poor team. Ireland’s win in the friendly meant absolutely nothing

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,851 ✭✭✭✭callaway92

It’s really annoying. It’s like he’s not taking the colour commentary role seriously at all. WTF is he at?

Kenny Cunningham is a bit of a dose. It's like he's developed this persona for media work, tries way too hard to be funny

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,462 ✭✭✭Acosta

It's ridiculous the way some in the media have been banging on about it. It was a terrible match. We got a lucky last minute goal

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,176 ✭✭✭Xander10

16 year old starting for Spain versus Modric 38 years old.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,916 ✭✭✭✭gormdubhgorm

I always liked the Swiss can beat any team on their day. I remember they beat "peak" Spain in 2010 in the group stage.

Also Tony O"Donoghue is in great form in the studio, plus he won money as he got Switerland 3 - Hungary 1 in the office sweep.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,978 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Not long gone in this one but Spain look really good. The whole team seem in sync with each other and they all work hard and cover positions when the player whose supposed to be there has moved. I think this could be a big win for them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,117 ✭✭✭jacool

Cannot believe Spain haven't a better left back than Cucurella! He's the weak link out there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,176 ✭✭✭Xander10

Spain 2 up. they've been in total control so far

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,978 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Balde has been out since January and he best out Grimaldo for the starting spot with a lot of very good performances for Spain.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,978 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

3-0 Spain at halftime and it could get much worse for Croatia.

Dani Carvajal with the third, a champions league final goal two weeks ago and a goal in the Euros now.

I think he's the most underrated player in football. For me he's far and away the best right back in football. He has it all, great defensive ability, he gets down the wing a lot and almost never loses possession and he's scoring goals now too.

The Croatian player should have blasted that shot into the top of the net, instead of tamely trying to place it. Massive chance missed and they badly needed it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,662 ✭✭✭CalamariFritti

Croatia seems off the boil nothing going for them, a bit better now but overall having a nightmare today.

If that is a pen, how is not a red??

Rodri not complaining, but didn't look like he touched him for that penalty.

    what’s going on here

edit: off side. Justice for dodge peno

Hilarious! Penalty given to Croatia , a foul as a Croatian player was about to tap into an empty card. Yellow card given, surely it should have been a red.

However, in replays, it looked like a dive. Penalty taken, keeper saves and Croatia work it to score on the rebound. VAR check ongoing to see if it's offside, and it's been ruled out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,537 ✭✭✭✭retalivity

    wtf?

    wha

    encroachment, it wasn’t offside

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,117 ✭✭✭jacool

Agreed I'd like to see where goalie was when ball was kicked. Thought he stepped forward.

The larger countries are just crushing the smaller countries this time round. 10 years ago these games would have been competitive, but now the big countries all have their youth academies and talent cultivation sorted, so smaller countries haven't a hope.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,300 ✭✭✭allinthehead

Really, why would you dive when all you have to do is tap it in to the empty net?

VAR working perfectly, insert UK ref, bedlam ensues

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,500 ✭✭✭Dick phelan

They have but for some reason have left Grimaldo one of the in form players in football on the bench.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,716 ✭✭✭✭McDermotX

    Some start

Albania up after 20 odd secs

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 54,641 ✭✭✭✭Headshot

I watched Italy's last friendly against Bosnia and Dimarco came on as a sub and was atrocious, he looked like a player who is far from match fitness and he has made an disastrous start against Albania

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,496 ✭✭✭✭Mushy

    Should be 1 all already

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,117 ✭✭✭jacool

    Goal crazy this tournament.

Only one goalless team and one goalless half so far.

Might half to work from home next week!!!!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,716 ✭✭✭✭McDermotX

Can't argue with the response......2-1 now after 16min

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,330 ✭✭✭Did you smash it

is big Phil scolari the only previous coach from South American to manage in the euros? Sylvinho being the second?

Three things I've noticed from the commentary.

    1. George always gets Italy.
    2. He insists on calling Albania Romania.
    3. The secret love child of Jim Beglin and Kevin Sheedy is playing centre half for Romania, sorry, Albania!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,610 ✭✭✭Damien360

Something missing from this Italian side. For all the possession, they don't do a lot with it. Albania far from out of this.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,330 ✭✭✭Did you smash it

impressed with scamacca, on another day those first time layoffs to midfield runners running beyond him will coz bigger problems

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,117 ✭✭✭jacool

Fair old hold of the jersey there inside the box, but as its Italy, no VAR.

Italy look like they'll be destroyed when they face a decent side. Shades of 2012, my favourite ever Euros final.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 11,443 Mod ✭✭✭✭Hammer Archer

Great save by Donnarumma. Inexplicably, officials give a goal kick. Referee seems to be giving Italy easier decisions in the last 10 minutes.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,855 ✭✭✭irishguitarlad

Italy got every decision their way tonight. Poor game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,117 ✭✭✭jacool

Agreed. He books Hoxha for putting a hand in the back of Chiesa, yet 2 minutes later he allows Bastoni shoulder charge Broja, who has to get substituted. I didn't like him high-fiving Cristante either after he went back to award him a free, correctly, as Italy got no advantage, but just like George Hamilton and his Romania comment, Albania are only here to make up the numbers, and don't really count. Also, he had a few players gather around him, which I thought wasn't allowed, or have Italy some master plan of dispensation as their keeper is their captain?

Albania should have thrown the kitchen sink at them for the last 10, or are they playing the GD game and hoping to be 3rd best team? Spain will annihilate them, but the Croatia game will be an arm wrestle.

I am now wondering why Albania didn't bring on this sub

    No 16. Berisha

The goalscorers were Bajrami, Bastoni and Barella, I see a trend!

Looked like he kicked the ground and fell over on the replay I saw

looks fairly predictable tomorrow. Interesting to see if more games go to the favs. No upsets so far.
