Seemingly withdrew as wasn't feeling well. Hopefully wasn't related to his mental health issues, but nothing confirmed yet

Very sad, had won this year, top 100 player, engaged to be married. You think some people have it all but I suppose you never really know what's going on in their life.

would be surprised if it wasn’t related. Struggles with alcohol too. Although according to all the fuckwits on Twitter it was the vaccine 🙄

Just reading up on the Scheffler charges. The officer didn't have his body cam on which he's supposed to. He has quite a few disciplinary fines and penalties including one for 'pursuing a vehicle that did not commit a violent felony or wanted on a warrant'.

I think all Scottie's charges will be dismissed.

I don't know the history of the cop, the media will try to dig up anything . But as soon as I heard about the body cam not being switched on, there was the grounds for the case to be dismissed, and sure enough it has been. It's like we can sue you, but you can sue us as well, so let's call the whole thing off. You ignore police orders, think you can do what you like, and drag an officer along the road. Well forgive me, if this decision doesn't prove that money talks, as always .

Yet again, money seems to speak and buy you freedom, if you're loaded, regardless of whether you're guilty or not. Just like Trump openly insulting the judge in his trial. If a regular person did that, they'd be locked up on the spot, not handed inconsequential fines which were openly mocked by Trump as well.

Delighted for Bob and to have his dad on the bag it's what dreams are made of.

Great to see Bob break through over there. He could go on a roll now. He was talking about a change of attitude, being calmer and not getting upset by bad shots as being the key to his improvement.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,428 ✭✭✭AyeGer

I’m glad Bob won in the end, he bogeyed a couple midway through the back 9 and it could have went south for him very fast, settled himself back down then thankfully. He was clearly nervous, looked pale in the face and obvious signs of stress in his expression. He did well to deal with those nerves.

I haven't been on this thread for a couple of days and missed this beauty.

A cop with a brutal disciplinary record turns off his body cam and somehow attached himself to a car. Attaching yourself to a car is not advised by any police authority.

Scottie Scheffler never did anything wrong in his life. This is the guy who insisted that Ted Scott, his caddie, was at home on the Saturday of the PGA Championship for his daughter's graduation. I don't know of any other golfer who would do that.

The first thought that came to my mind when I heard he attached himself to the car was that he was looking for a handy payday.

Maybe all the Sky hype was justified after all, delighted for him, wonder will this give him the confidence to win a lot more, hopefully. Loved the way he dismissed playing the Memorial just after being told he qualified 😂

Was delighted for MacIntyre , followed him for a few holes when the Irish open was in Mount Juliet and he came across as pure sound. Apart from Lowry he's the other golfer who to me comes across as pure ordinary

The videos of the incident with Scotty are at complete odds with the nonsense statement given by the police officer. Yer man tried to run after Scotty who was barely crawling along. It's made out that he drove off from the cop, dragging the cop and ripping his uniform. He barely could hear yer man let alone see clearly what was happening. As soon as he clocked what was happened he stopped, apologised and complied. There was no dragging or refusing to obey orders.

The cop was obviously bullshitting the whole thing. Only for Scotty's profile, some videos and media scrutiny the trumped up (fantasy) charges could well have stuck. The level of delusion and self centred nature of the cop's media statement are telling.

Fair play to Bob. There'll be some seshion for the next week. Hopefully a sign of things to come.

Looks like the pga cards for the dp top players give them a proper shot to establish themselves.

Didnt realise this one had a cut in it. Good to see even if it just cuts 10-15 players.

Seems to be removed from app now

Sky have stopped Red button Golf Choice on Sky+HD boxes.

Spieth has been absolutely awful this year, not even in the top 50 of the FedEx Cup. He looks lost every time I watch him play. Possibly has an injured wrist which might explain it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,932 ✭✭✭Trampas

PGA tour should just add another player to the timesheet tomorrow than have a 1 ball on the course both days.

Doesn’t say much what they thought of Macintyre win as out the second group tomorrow. Expect a recent winner to be later in the draws and a bigger name to be out with

Thats how it's done. With a typical field of 150, 160 players there are always dropouts due to injury, sickness or other reasons and there is a ranked list of alternates and qualifiers for such cases. It's pretty standard and happens all the time.

it will interesting to see how this weeks goes. Allot of lads played poorly at pinehurst. Tony and Xander finished well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,203 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

It rarely carries forward from a major. Scottie might be the man again.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,159 ✭✭✭cosatron

scottie was all over the shop at pinehurst so he will probably win again.

Byeong Hun An withdrew after 7 holes today. The teetimes for tomorrow now has 2 players out on their own.
I wonder if they will join them up or if there is some rule preventing it?

Anyone know if Sky are getting back to the Travelers tonight or staying with the women's PGA?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,982 ✭✭✭Deeper Blue

Cam Young hits 6 of 14 fairways and shoots 59. If that doesn't tell you that something needs to change with the equipment then nothing will.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,203 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

While I do think the equipment needs to be sorted out, hitting fairways is not always the huge bonus a lot of people believe. If the rough is not penalising it can be an advantage where you don't want spin on the ball. This is a course where spin is hard to control.

And going back to the 80's, Seve Ballesteros spent more time in the rough than on the fairway his whole career. The man won five majors and I think 50 times in total on the European tour. And that was back when all the best European players played on the tour.

Tom Kim battled real hard and deserves credit for it. Plugged ball in the bunker was so unfortunate, horrible way to lose. I liked his interview afterwards where he was very positive saying he's not disappointed and he'll take the memory of how well he played and look forward.

Interesting watch on some of the tech that goes into filming PGA tour golf. The scale of these events is crazy.

Scottish open, British Open, practice on links before that. Then back to the US after it and the Fed ex cup playoffs.

59 for Hayden Springer at the John Deere

Valimaki 61 shaving a bunch of holes for birdie and no chip ins for him as far as I'm aware.

Spieth very hot early on,-4 through 6. Iron shots have been excellent, longest birdie putt so far was 20 feet.

DP tour making a good show of themselves this week

Nick Dunlap would have played in the Open if he was still an amateur but turned pro after winning on the PGA tour earlier in the year. It all worked out for him as he won the alternate PGA tour event last night. He even gets to keep the money this time. 😁

He is the first person to win on the PGA tour as an amateur and a professional in the same season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,982 ✭✭✭Deeper Blue

Fair dues to him, he seemed to be towards the bottom of the leaderboard in most of the events he played after the first win so there was obviously an adjustment period. It'll be interesting to see how he gets on next year particularly if he's in the majors.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,203 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

He'd showed a bit of form recently in the Memorial and the Rocket Mortgage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,982 ✭✭✭Deeper Blue

Just watching the Wyndham there, Kuchar playing in the final group runs to the 18th to tee off before darkness. Hits it in the rough and then decides to come back in the morning to finish out, despite being out of contention for the tournament and the playoffs. His two playing partners finished out so he'll be coming back on his own to play a couple of shots. Bizarre stuff.
