Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    this is how euro 2020 worked with 3rd placed teams. presume 5 points has to guarantee at least 2nd.

    ETA: just has a look on phone, and its ugly AF.

    Team - GD - points - Qualify?

    Portugal ====== 1 == 4 == Qualify
    Czech Republic == 1 == 4 = Qualify
    Switzerland ==== -1 = 4 = Qualify
    Ukraine =======-1 = 3 = Qualify
    Finland ======= -2 = 3 = DNG
    Slovakia =======-5 = 3 = DNG

    I assume that didn't turn out right? I'm pretty good at math and I can't read that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,867 ✭✭✭✭Loafing Oaf

    Hungary will want that win badly if only to avoid a 0 points exit embarrassment. Havent really done the maths is there a realistic chance to qualify with 3 points?

    If you're Hungary you're looking for other groups where the top two both beat the bottom two, preferably by big margins, and ideally the bottom two draw. Groups B and D look the best bets for that.

    Of course Group A is first to finish so it's highly likely as Hungary-Scotland kicks off it will still be possible at that stage a win would take Hungary through.

    Looks fine on desktop version but not on mobile. Which is really annoying.

    sorry boss. as necro mentioned, its grand on desktop.

    basically 4 points should get you through as a 3rd placed team, with 3 points it'll likely come down to goal difference.

    0-0 at half time here in Munich. Enough happenening in the first half to keep me awake. Just.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,037 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

    Been a long wait, but finally a finish on the end of a decent final ball.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,266 ✭✭✭✭y0ssar1an22

    and very close to an equalizer there

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,851 ✭✭✭✭callaway92

    This makes England’s performance look even worse against Serbia

    Only thing you COULD say about that match is it was both teams’ opening match, so jittery/nervy etc

    I was very surprised they took off Sesko. I was thinking they should deploy him wide. Every time he went out there he caused problems.

    The one thing Slovenia shouldn't do now is sit deep, that suits Serbia.

    1-1 in the 95th minute.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,180 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

    Wow! Serbia equalise right at the end of the 5 minutes added time. Header from a corner.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,037 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

    In the last seconds, dramatic stuff! Keeps the group interesting though.

    If no. 2 wasn't pulling his jersey he might have been able to jump with him. Muppet

    I can never understand why they don't have someone on the posts. So many players inside the box trying to get the ball to where you could someone waiting to clear it.

    Also, the keeper, what was he doing? Literally 2 feet behind the line anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,117 ✭✭✭jacool

    Ref must have had a few quid on the cards index!

    He books a player who has just been fouled and is being prevented from taking a quick free kick!

    Then two more yellows for WWE type stuff!

    Kinda glad Slovenia got done as they were running down the clock so badly for the last 15. Guy gets hit in the head by a football, what's the odds, eh? and goes down like he's been shot.

    And I dislike Serbia!

    Same England team start as the last day.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,037 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

    Interesting… was sure Trent would be dropped for Gallagher, or maybe pulling Bellingham back into CM, putting Foden at 10, and then Eze or Gordon left.

  • That's Southgate for ye. Hope they lose today.

    Bloody Shearer BBC on co-commentary

    Only one team on the pitch with that fella

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,978 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

    Saka is a class act but he's very limited in the system, or non-system, that Southgate plays. He's not allowed do what makes him great. I think Palmer would be a far better option given how they play.

    You have to laugh at the caption under the 3 RTE panelists as they each spoke for the first time in the preview of the Denmark v England match.

    James McClean

    103 caps for Republic of Ireland

    Shay Given

    134 caps for Republic of Ireland

    Richie Sadlier

    Former Republic of Ireland player

    He has 1 cap. He has no business being there, in punditry or being on TV.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,780 ✭✭✭Mr. Guappa

    Sadlier the pundit wipes the floor with the other two.

  • Yeah. Playing the game doesn't mean you're qualified to be a pundit. McClean is useless.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,266 ✭✭✭✭y0ssar1an22

    some dude with the **** uefa sign well visible. i expect the stewards will make their way over to him

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,330 ✭✭✭Did you smash it

    he polarizes opinion. Some find him good. Some find him anodine.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,266 ✭✭✭✭y0ssar1an22

    trents positioning in the middle aint great, few times rice had no pass to him or got in rice's way. who can blame him though given he has played 3 games there his entire career.

    i suppose he can play a good pass.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,876 ✭✭✭Deeper Blue

    First time seeing McClean as a pundit today. He's hopeless.

    walker down. will prob be off. means england will most likely get a proper midfield.

    think he's fine.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,537 ✭✭✭✭retalivity

    Walker is the auxilary lb til shaw gets fit as well, right? They are fecked if hes out

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,030 ✭✭✭pavb2

    I remember the last Euros in England three years ago lots of discussion about 1996 the last time they were held in England. In one piece Shearer and Richard’s were asked to pick their top 10 goals from the tournament … Shearer included two of his own.

    poor effort from foden.

  • Forgot Kane was on the pitch until then. This England setup is odd

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,266 ✭✭✭✭y0ssar1an22

    and it lands perfectly for kane. 1-0.

  • Hah. 4 seconds later. Typical Harry.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,716 ✭✭✭✭McDermotX

    Another fortunate deflected buildup gives England an early lead

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,266 ✭✭✭✭y0ssar1an22

    that number 17 for denmark needs to work on his awareness.

    double deflection from the cross right to kane for an easy tap in. typical 😅

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,180 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

    That's shocking defending from the Danish defender, way too casual, had no idea Walker was near him. More good fortune for England with another deflection on this cross as well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,536 ✭✭✭Dave0301

    Whatever about the deflection, Denmark should be furious with their left back.

    Totally unaware of Walker.

    If you want BBC, use the Red Button, 5 live commentary

  • This pitch is falling apart

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,716 ✭✭✭✭McDermotX

    Of course, and Walker done well to force the issue. Can find fault with any goal, and the defender should be kicking himself.

    Still a rubbish goal. That's worth the same as any of the "goals of the tournaments" that have been flying in of late, admittedly. 🤣

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 33,256 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

    Walker came up on his blind side, defenders eyes were on saka - I cannot see why he didn't get a shout from any of his team mates though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,716 ✭✭✭✭McDermotX

    What the hell was that dive ? 🤣

    Like his legs stopped working

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,266 ✭✭✭✭y0ssar1an22

    poor denmark dont get the same bounce of the ball england did.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,500 ✭✭✭Dick phelan

    That pitch is awful.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,716 ✭✭✭✭McDermotX

    Cracking strike

    1-1

    Shearer might try to blame the pitch

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,500 ✭✭✭Dick phelan

    A belter

  • Boom.
